Chapter 48: Proportional to the Body

“Are they splitting up?” Han Shiguo asked.

Jiang Qian scoffed, “If they split, so be it. He’s the type who wants the horse to run but refuses to feed it hay!”

She knew this kind of man—stingy, selfish, and wanting to benefit without giving anything in return. He deserved to stay single for the rest of his life and should stay away from ruining other girls’ lives!

Han Shiguo agreed, “He’s really inconsiderate.”

It was just one bowl of noodles, yet he thought the girl was taking advantage of him. As soon as he saw his wife share some of her noodles with him, he started lecturing the girl at the next table.

From the small details, it was clear that he wasn’t the right kind of person for a serious relationship.

Jiang Qian thought that if they broke up, it would be a good thing—almost like a merit on her part.

The girl seemed like an open and bright person, and that man definitely didn’t deserve her.

Although there was a little incident, the two simple bowls of egg noodles were actually delicious, and both of them were satisfied.

Afterward, they went to the movie theater.

After all, opportunities for such relaxed moments were rare. While they had the chance, they decided to fully enjoy the rare time together as a couple.

Last night, they had taken their relationship a step further.

The rough and hungry man was quite greedy, almost to the point of being irresistible.

Because of the intimate contact they had the night before, today, when they went to the movie, holding hands behind people’s backs didn’t make their hearts race so fast as if they were doing something wrong.

But that didn’t affect the good mood of their date.

By the time they came out of the movie, it was only three o’clock.

“Let’s go to the mall to find Lili. We’ll invite her, Qin Fu, and my fourth brother to come out for a meal,” Jiang Qian suggested to Han Shiguo.

“Sure.” Han Shiguo had no objections.

The two of them headed to the mall to find Su Lili. Su Lili was chatting with a colleague about gossip. She must have heard something interesting, as she widened her eyes, covered her mouth, and whispered something to her coworker.

“Lili!” Jiang Qian called out to her with a smile.

Hearing her name, Su Lili’s eyes lit up. “Qianqian!”

When she saw her friend, Su Lili’s colleague quickly returned to her post.

“You chat with Comrade Su, I’ll go see if there’s anything to buy,” Han Shiguo said.

“Okay,” Jiang Qian responded.

Han Shiguo then wandered off on his own.

Jiang Qian approached Su Lili and asked, “What were you talking about with your coworker? You looked like you heard a big scoop.”

“You have no idea,” Su Lili replied in a low voice. “Her neighbor’s husband is a tian yan (a man born with a physical condition where he is unable to perform sexually). They just got married, and now they’re causing a scene. I just learned what tian yan means, and it shocked me!”

Jiang Qian, well-read and knowledgeable, didn’t need Su Lili to explain what tian yan meant, but she still feigned surprise as she listened to her quietly explain.

Su Lili laughed softly, “But your husband definitely doesn’t fall into that category. You can tell right away, he’s a strong one. Little Qianqian, you must’ve suffered last night, right?”

“Go away.” Jiang Qian’s face turned red, and she lightly scolded her.

But truth be told, she was a little nervous because his physique truly matched the rumors—he was no small fry!

“When I find a house, I’m going to get married too!” Su Lili looked at her best friend, who was clearly glowing, and couldn’t help but feel a little envious.

“You’re in such a rush?” Jiang Qian teased her.

“You don’t know the hunger of a starving person when you’ve had your fill!” These married folks don’t understand the loneliness and emptiness of being single. It’s really tough!

The two friends quietly laughed for a while, and then Jiang Qian finally suggested, “Let’s have a meal today. We’ll treat, invite Qin Fu, and my fourth brother. Let’s all go to the restaurant together. Order whatever you want.”

“Well, we won’t be polite then,” Su Lili replied happily. She was genuinely glad that her good friend had found such a great match.

It wasn’t long before Han Shiguo returned, holding a can of Snowflower cream.

“Why did you go buy this?” Jiang Qian said with a teasing smile.

“I noticed your can was almost used up,” Han Shiguo replied with a smile.

“Ah, Shiguo, you’re too thoughtful! Qin Fu never notices these things. I should have him learn from you,” Su Lili teased.

Jiang Qian laughed and scolded her, “Qin Fu has it hard, trying to deal with you little devil!”

Su Lili laughed uncontrollably.

“We’ll go find my Fourth Brother. You can go meet Qin Fu after work, he’s on Nan Third Road, the restaurant we went to together before,” Jiang Qian told her.

“Alright,” Su Lili responded.

After parting ways with Su Lili, Jiang Qian followed Han Shiguo to Jiang Shouchuan’s workplace to see if he was there.

This time, Jiang Shouchuan was indeed at work.

When he saw his sister and brother-in-law, Jiang Shouchuan was very happy.

He carefully examined his sister’s expression. Her face, now married, showed no signs of worry, and it was clear that she was living a good life. This reassured him.

“Fourth Brother, I’ve made plans to have dinner with Lili and Qin Fu. After you finish work, come join us, we can all get together,” Jiang Qian said with a smile.

“Alright, but I still have about an hour until I finish work!” Jiang Shouchuan replied.

He and Su Lili, along with Qin Fu, had similar work hours.

“We’ll head to the park and take a walk first,” Han Shiguo said.

“Alright.”

Han Shiguo took Jiang Qian to the nearby small park. Though it was called a small park, there wasn’t much to it. Still, it didn’t stop Han Shiguo from enjoying his time with Jiang Qian.

In fact, it was precisely because the park was empty that Han Shiguo had the chance to steal a kiss from his little wife.

Jiang Qian’s face turned red, and she quickly refused, “What are you doing? What if someone sees us and starts gossiping about our relationship?”

At this time, even married couples couldn’t be too close in public. Holding hands was already frowned upon, and if someone saw them kissing, it would definitely raise eyebrows.

Han Shiguo looked at his wife’s fair and charming face, “It’s fine. Whether there’s anyone around or not, I can always tell.”

“Better safe than sorry. And when you kiss me, do you even care if anyone’s watching?” Jiang Qian pouted.

Han Shiguo looked around; still no one in sight. He was tempted to kiss her again—his wife was just too sweet.

But Jiang Qian wasn’t having it. “We’ll talk when we get home.” At home, he could kiss her as much as he wanted, but not in public. She couldn’t just let him do whatever he wanted in front of others.

“Alright.” Han Shiguo nodded, smiling, and they continued their walk, finding a spot to sit and relax.

Jiang Qian was only willing to be close to him once he behaved. As for holding hands, she was willing to let him have that.

Even if they didn’t do anything, just being together made both of them feel happy. It didn’t feel like much time had passed, and before they knew it, it was nearly time to meet the others.

They arrived early and waited outside the state-run restaurant.

At the designated time, Su Lili arrived on Qin Fu’s bicycle. Jiang Shouchuan was a little late, but no more than ten minutes.

The group then entered together to have dinner.

They ordered braised pig’s feet, braised lamb chops, scrambled eggs, stir-fried cabbage with pork cracklings, stewed eggplant with minced meat, stir-fried shredded potatoes, and a soup.

Su Lili quickly said, “This is too much. Let’s cancel the lamb chops.”

“No need to cancel anything. Just leave it as it is,” Jiang Qian smiled and glanced at her. “Besides, weren’t you already planning to have a meal from me once I got married? Today’s the day for you to enjoy it.”

Su Lili laughed, “Alright, since the bride has spoken, we’ll eat!”
