Reborn Back To The Time When I First Got A Job
Reborn Back To The Time When I First Got A Job | Chapter 52

Chen Xiao’s request to borrow two people from the Harmony Liquor Group Purchasing Department went smoothly.

At present, the Harmony Liquor line was in a nearly lifeless state, and Lin Yan and Hong Danni had fewer resources compared to Chen Lu and Wang Xiaoxue—they even struggled to compile daily work reports.

Brother Xiao’s temporary transfer came as a blessing for them, making their August work reports seem a bit more genuine.

Compared to Lin Yan and Hong Danni, who went straight to Lu Nan to “pay their respects” (or rather, to seek advice), Dong Hui’s attitude was more subtle. She wanted to understand Feixiang, but she didn’t want to “suck up” to Lu Nan—after all, Lu Nan’s actions at the end of last month, where she ignored her attempts to be friendly, had left her feeling embarrassed.

So, she sought help from outside.

The more experienced Zhou Lei saw the situation clearly. He told Dong Hui, “There’s actually no difficulty in setting up the products in the VIP rooms. The company has custom wine cabinets and bottles, and everything has to be arranged according to company rules. When the time comes, you’ll mainly be supervising and coordinating with the hotel.”

“As for Feixiang, given Lu Nan’s strong personal interests, she might not give you the contact details of their company’s liaison. But you can team up with Lin Yan and Hong Danni and say that for more efficient communication, Lu Nan should create a group chat or something…” This way, she can get the contact information of Feixiang’s liaison.

Dong Hui suddenly understood: “Zhou Lei, you’re so smart!”

Being praised so directly by the opposite sex, Zhou Lei seemed a bit embarrassed. He looked down and smiled, then glanced at Dong Hui with a slightly indulgent look and said, “Actually, I also have the contact info of Brother Pei from Feixiang, but it’s not convenient for me to give it to you.” After all, Feixiang distributes through all channels, including the supermarket line, and as the supervisor of the supermarket channel, it’s normal for Zhou Lei to have Pei Xuedong’s contact info.

“I understand, I understand.” Dong Hui patted Zhou Lei’s shoulder firmly. “Just the fact that you’re willing to tell me this is already very thoughtful. To show my gratitude, I’ll treat you to bubble tea!”

Zhou Lei shook his head: “No need for bubble tea, it’s too sweet. Only girls like those things. If you really want to thank me… how about, are you free this afternoon? We could go watch a movie together?”

Even though Dong Hui denied having a romantic relationship with Zhou Lei in front of Hong Danni, young men and women of a similar age are constantly chatting and seeing each other every day. A simple exchange of glances during the morning meeting can be quite interesting. Dong Hui had to admit that her impression of Zhou Lei was getting better and better.

“Ah? This…” Would going to a movie together be too ambiguous?

Zhou Lei hesitated, then said, “Is my request too much?” By the end, his voice was quite soft, and despite being a big man, he looked a bit vulnerable, almost pitiful.

Dong Hui thought it over. She felt that she could handle her relationship with Zhou Lei, so she said: “Alright, what movie are we watching?”

…

Dong Hui thought getting Lu Nan to create a group would be a difficult task.

She felt she had found the perfect moment and brought it up after the morning meeting, when Manager Wang and Chen Xiao hadn’t left yet.

Lu Nan looked surprised: “I already created the group and invited you before the morning meeting… I guess you didn’t have time to check your phone?”

Dong Hui quickly checked her phone, and sure enough, she saw the invitation from Lu Nan just a few minutes earlier—right as the morning meeting was starting. It was hard to believe it wasn’t intentional.

But the fact remains that Lu Nan had already created the group before she brought this up.

Dong Hui tried to dig a hole but ended up filling it herself.

Chen Xiao was the first to be added to the group. He glanced at the order in which members had been invited, with one person joining every few minutes. The last one to join was Dong Hui, and the timing was just a few seconds before the morning meeting started. Coincidence? Of course not!

Chen Xiao gave Lu Nan a subtle glance.

The young woman with shoulder-length hair and slightly curled ends stayed calm, wearing a gentle smile as she spoke softly to explain.

Dong Hui’s impulsiveness and impatience were a sharp contrast to that.

Correction.

Lu Nan, as always, knows how to keep boundaries and avoids trouble. But when trouble comes knocking, she’s not hesitant to fight back.

Chen Xiao suddenly felt that Lu Nan’s willingness to settle things smoothly and cleanly was, in some way, her “going easy” on him. No matter her reasoning, she had ultimately let this matter go—Chen Xiao had no doubt that if she had not wanted to let it slide, she could have made a huge scene.

…

After the meeting, Chen Xiao called the four women to his office and once again gave Dong Hui, Lin Yan, and Hong Danni a detailed explanation of the division of labor. He then glanced at Lu Nan: “From now on, you three should send your work progress to the group every day before you leave work, both to me and Lu Nan.”

The three women nodded in agreement.

Lu Nan glanced at Chen Xiao.

She knew that Chen Xiao had noticed her small action when she created the group.

However, she was also confident that such a harmless little gesture—Chen Xiao would tolerate it.

See, I guessed it right again.

Before leaving, she smiled at him.

Chen Xiao helplessly shook his head.

…

Lu Nan felt that August should be her lucky month.

She focused on the big things and let go of the small ones, with her main work still on the Feixiang group purchases. Mr. Yuan also gave her contact information for several other potential clients (all of them were Lu Nan’s potential customers).

With that in mind, Lu Nan discussed with Mr. Yang in advance whether they could specifically hold an event for Mr. Yuan and his friends during the six small performances in August.

Mr. Yang was naturally very willing, and after a delightful banquet, in August, seven or eight thousand bottles of Yuan Chuan Classic Wine were gradually delivered to him.

As for the catering channel, although Lu Nan didn’t participate directly, she made sure to regularly check the progress with Pei Xuedong—not because she didn’t trust her roommates, but because Dong Hui’s intentions were all too obvious.

What Lu Nan needed to do was use her, make the most of her, and make sure she would happily take on tasks like supervising the wine delivery and arranging the displays in the VIP rooms. Even though she knew Dong Hui had secretly added Pei Xuedong’s contact info, Lu Nan didn’t care. In Feixiang, the final decisions were made by Mr. Yang.

As long as Lu Nan could explain the progress clearly when Mr. Yang inquired about the work, Feixiang would have no complaints about her—since their collaboration was smooth and efficient, why would Feixiang want to replace her with someone else?

…

For Lin Yan and Hong Danni, after being temporarily reassigned by Brother Xiao, they were able to work productively for three to four hours each day. Additionally, communicating with the hotel side helped improve their communication skills. Over time, both girls visibly grew. Due to this reassignment, their work-related interactions with Lu Nan became more frequent, and during their private conversations, they would occasionally mention Lu Nan.

Hong Danni said, “I used to think Lu Nan was the type of girl who seemed a bit proud and hard to approach, but I didn’t expect her to be so capable.”

Lin Yan replied with a simple, “Hmm?”

“That day, I was in Feixiang’s warehouse setting up the wine cabinets, and she brought the big client manager from Feixiang to pick up the wine. The workers unloading the goods were a bit careless. She came over and directly told them how to tie the shockproof film and how to arrange the items in the truck to avoid damage. At first, the middle-aged workers weren’t too happy, but I saw that Lu Nan didn’t raise her voice or change her expression; she just smiled, but very persistently stood there and said that if the truck wasn’t loaded according to her instructions, she would hold them responsible if any damage occurred when the hotel received it. The faces of those workers were really unpleasant. I bet they were cursing inside. But once the unloading was done, Lu Nan came over with a box of iced tea she must have bought and chatted with the workers for a bit, and then they had no objections at all. Not long after, when Dong Hui’s wine cabinets were being loaded, those workers didn’t need Lu Nan’s reminder and just followed her previous instructions.” Hong Danni said admiringly.

Lin Yan glanced at Hong Danni. “I told you, you can’t judge people like that. You really should respect Feifei for this. What did she say when we first moved into the dorm? You can’t judge people by their appearance. Some people seem friendly on the surface, but their superiority shows in their eyes and tone.”

Hong Danni still wasn’t used to talking behind people’s backs and mumbled, “…Actually, Dong Hui is okay, right?” Although Lin Yan didn’t name anyone, Hong Danni knew who she was referring to.

“You’re too soft-hearted,” Lin Yan replied bluntly. “Let me tell you, Dong Hui has tried a few times to form groups in the dorm. Don’t be foolish and believe everything she says.”

Hong Danni, though soft-hearted, wasn’t foolish. She hesitated before saying, “I won’t get involved. But it seems like Dong Hui really likes to hang out with Xiao Yun lately…”

“Don’t even mention it,” Lin Yan waved her hand. “I already talked to Xiao Yun. Don’t worry, although Xiao Yun doesn’t talk much, she knows what’s going on. She’s in charge of internal affairs, and her work is already complicated. She doesn’t want to deal with these things.”

“One box of iced tea!” Before the topic ended, Hong Danni was still amazed. “24 bottles, over 20 pounds including the box. She carried it over with one hand. So impressive! Do you think it’s because Lu Nan has been working out? I’ve noticed Feifei seems to have lost some weight lately. Maybe when we get paid, I should get a gym membership? But Dong Hui will definitely ask why I don’t go to the gym she recommended. After all, we’re in the same room…”

“You should just say that the gym Feifei and Lu Nan go to is not only closer but also three hundred yuan cheaper for the annual membership.”

“Oh, that makes sense.”

…

On August 10th, Lu Nan received a text message notification.

July salary was credited.

There were three text messages.

The first was for the basic salary, the second was for expenses, and the third was… 1,000 yuan?!

Thanks to Sasha’s kind words, she had indeed received the Outstanding Employee reward from the city office for July.

When the three amounts were added up, it exceeded 7k.

In addition, this month’s payment for the ongoing novel was over 3,000 (half of the earnings for serialized content were held back). This month, she definitely surpassed a monthly income of ten thousand.

She hadn’t spent all the cash on hand yet, so Lu Nan quickly checked. She paid off the credit card bill from buying clothes, left 2,000 yuan for daily expenses, and invested the remaining 8,000 yuan in a media stock that had climbed to halfway up a mountain.

Is it doable? Only leaving two thousand for a whole month.

In ten years, due to consumption upgrades and inflation, 2,000 yuan wouldn’t even cover a week’s worth of expenses for Lu Nan, but right now, she didn’t have that many things to spend on.

Lu Nan thought to herself: If I miss out on this opportunity to make money, it’ll be years before I find another one. What’s wrong with controlling my spending desires?
