Chapter 6: Shock! The Dog Emperor Stripped in Court!
Inside the hall stood many of the emperor’s trusted ministers. Xiao Huaishuo sat upright in his wheelchair, in the foremost position, closest to the emperor.
The old emperor seemed quite furious. His sparse beard quivered, and the rolls of fat on his body shook along with it. He pointed at Xiao Huaishuo below and shouted:
“Warlord! How could I trust you so much! I never expected… I never expected… you would commit such treasonous acts, colluding with the enemy and betraying the country.”
With a hand as fat as a pig’s hoof, he grabbed a teacup from the table and hurled it at Xiao Huaishuo’s forehead.
“Bang—”
Xiao Huaishuo didn’t make a sound and took the hit squarely. A large red mark bloomed on his smooth forehead, and bright red blood trickled down his beautifully defined jawline.
In that moment, the sense of shattering was so palpable that Su Qingning couldn’t help but feel a pang in her heart.
“Bang—Bang—Bang—”
There were several more sounds of shattering porcelain. The emperor was “so enraged that he was beside himself.”
“Warlord! At this point, with the evidence so conclusive, what else do you have to explain?!”
The old emperor’s acting was truly remarkable. Clearly, he had colluded with a group of trusted ministers to frame the warlord for treason, yet he now played the victim without any shame.
If it weren’t for the fact that there were too many people on the other side, making it inconvenient for Su Qingning to reveal herself, she would have given him an Oscar statuette!
Xiao Huaishuo remained quietly seated. Although he had long received news that the emperor wanted to eliminate the Xiao family, hearing the very emperor his family had loyally protected speak such words was still hard for him to bear.
From a young age, he had been taught by his father and brothers to be loyal to the emperor and love the country. Every day, he practiced martial arts to be able to go to battle and kill the enemy, using his blood to protect the land beneath his feet.
When he was ten years old, he went into battle with his family. Three thousand men were surrounded by thirty thousand from the Southern Qi. In the most difficult times, his father never once considered surrendering to the enemy; instead, he solemnly told them:
“Children, remember this. We eat the emperor’s salary, and we must be loyal to him. Even if we die in battle today, we cannot surrender to the enemy and give them the chance to trample our great Qian’s land.”
At ten years old, he merely nodded in confusion with his brothers, but his father’s words were deeply engraved in his heart from that moment on.
After more than ten years in the military, he had experienced no fewer than a hundred battles, and whenever things got tough, he would remember his father’s words, firmly rejecting any offers of surrender from the enemy.
And now, with his father and brothers’ fates unknown at the border, the dog emperor actually slandered the Xiao family for colluding with the enemy and betraying the country, intending to take action against the entire Xiao family!
Explain? What is there to explain?! It’s just that the Xiao family’s achievements overshadowed the emperor, and he was envious!
Ridiculous! Truly ridiculous! Father, brothers! Look well at what kind of ruler you are loyal to!
Xiao Huaishuo couldn’t help but burst into laughter. His clear voice, like jade striking against jade, echoed throughout the hall, carrying a heavy sense of grievance, unwillingness, and indignation, causing everyone present to shudder.
A stream of clear tears traced down his cheek, washing the blood on his face to a pale red, conveying an indescribable sense of sorrow and beauty.
“Hahaha! What a treasonous act! Does the emperor think that if I find evidence of my innocence, he will let the Xiao family off the hook?!”
“Hahaha! Good, good, good! Who would have thought that I, Xiao Huaishuo, who has never known defeat in my life, as a general of the great Qian, would not die on the battlefield but instead at the hands of the very ruler I loyally protected?!”
Having been raised with the education of loyalty to the emperor and love for the country, Xiao Huaishuo’s worldview shattered in that moment, and he appeared quite agitated, waving his sleeve and pointing at the ministers:
“Hahaha! What is there to explain for the Xiao family?! It’s just that when the cunning rabbit dies, the hunting dog gets cooked! What happens to
When will they also lose their value and end up like the Xiao family?!
The hall fell silent in an instant, with the ministers shrinking back in fright. Several trusted ministers silently calculated in their hearts, ready to return to their homes as soon as possible.
The old emperor felt as if Xiao Huaishuo had suddenly stripped him bare, never expecting that at the brink of his death, he would be outmaneuvered. With one sentence, he had completely alienated himself from the few trusted ministers.
Furious and beside himself, he pointed at Xiao Huaishuo and shouted:
“Good! Good, you Xiao Huaishuo! How dare you insult the emperor in court and still have the audacity to say you are loyal to the country?! The evidence that the Xiao family colluded with the enemy is conclusive; you needn’t explain any further! Guards! Drag Xiao Huaishuo out…”
Before he could finish speaking, the bejeweled dragon chair beneath him vanished into thin air. The old emperor was immediately sent crashing down.
He felt as if his behind had split into several pieces, causing tears to flow and cold air to gasp out of him.
“Ouch—ouch—who dares to trick me?! Feather Guard! Feather Guard! Hurry and capture the assassin!”
Dozens of shadows darted away in response. The emperor was currently sprawled on the golden hall floor, with Xiao Huaishuo being the closest and the first to arrive.
Now that only Xiao Huaishuo was beside the old emperor, it was the perfect time to act. Xiao Huaishuo, trembling slightly as he held the old emperor’s hand, was instantly filled with killing intent.
But then he thought that if he killed the dog emperor now, all the women and children in the Warlord’s Mansion would surely not escape the encirclement of the Forbidden Army, and they would all end up dead.
He had no choice but to suppress the killing intent in his eyes and slowly help the fallen old emperor back up.
Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of Su Qingning’s figure flashing past on the rafters, and a smile curved at the corner of his mouth.
He understood that his all-powerful little princess was taking revenge for him. Gratitude flooded his heart, and the accumulated anger within him dissipated significantly.
He shifted his body to block the old emperor’s line of sight.
After a hard time being helped up, the old emperor took a few deep breaths. Upon raising his head and seeing Xiao Huaishuo, he was so frightened he pushed him away.
Unbeknownst to him, he lost his balance again and fell down once more.
“Ouch—ouch—damn it! Ouch—someone! Drag Xiao Huaishuo out…”
“Crack—”
Suddenly, a pile of white fabric fell from the ceiling, like fairy dusting flowers.
The ministers initially thought it was some new assassination technique, causing them to panic and scream for help, huddling together in the hall.
“Help! Protect the emperor! Quickly, protect the emperor!”
After shouting for so long without any response, they finally opened their eyes wide and looked around.
Once they did, the expressions of the prominent ministers turned beet red.
The solemn and dignified council hall was now littered with lace garments from the West.
There were revealing ones, those with ties, ones with dog leashes, those with bows, and those with bunny tails…
Various styles were spread across the floor.
Even the notoriously lewd crown prince felt his blood rush, quietly noting several unusual designs.
Several venerable old ministers reddened, covering their eyes and exclaiming, “This is disgraceful,” while peeking through their fingers to see outside.
The more they looked, the faster their hearts raced, wishing they could leave work quickly and return home to have a good time with their little concubines.
The old emperor, seeing these familiar garments, was so angry his face turned crimson, and his blood pressure soared to nearly 280.
“Bold! Bold thief! How dare you scatter these filthy things in the council hall! Feather Guard! Go up to the roof and search! Capture this thief, and I promise to tear him to pieces…”
“Splash—”
Before the old emperor could finish speaking, he suddenly felt a chill wash over him, and the dragon robe he was wearing vanished in an instant.
The latest lace underwear he was wearing was instantly exposed!

All the ministers: !!!
Xiao Huaishuo: …
