Chapter 10: It’s Daytime Now
“Repay me?”
A deep voice, tinged with a soft chuckle, resonated like gold and jade, sending a shiver through her ears.
“Yaoyao, how do you plan to repay me?”
The words themselves were proper and serious, but somehow, coming from the villainous tycoon, they carried a subtle, ambiguous undertone.
The little beauty, dressed in a white shirt, stood frozen in place, a faint blush rising on her cheeks, making her look as delicate as a freshly bloomed rose.
Her eyes were dewy, filled with uncertainty—vulnerable and irresistibly sweet.
Her voice was soft and still laced with the drowsy laziness of just waking up as she murmured,
“Mr. Pei… what do you need me to do?”
A certain thought, buried deep in the man’s heart, stirred at her words. His pitch-black phoenix eyes seemed like a bottomless abyss, and his deliberately lowered voice carried a coaxing allure.
“No matter what I ask Yaoyao to do… will you agree?”
The little beauty’s long lashes trembled as she mumbled weakly,
“If it’s illegal… definitely not…”
The man raised an eyebrow as he looked at her conflicted expression, a hint of helplessness in his gaze.
So in Yaoyao’s heart, he was nothing more than a lawless villain who did all kinds of evil?
A wicked man who not only had a bad reputation but also liked to trick innocent girls into doing questionable things?
“I won’t break the law.”
Pei Heng’s voice was slow and smooth, pleasant to the ear.
“You know, Yaoyao, I’ve been alone all these years… It’s inevitable that I sometimes feel lonely…”
He paused for a moment, a faint trace of amusement flashing in his eyes as he deliberately teased her.
“Especially at night, when I find it hard to sleep alone—”
Before he could finish, the little beauty’s eyes widened in horror, staring at him in shock.
What did Pei Heng mean by this?
Lonely?
Can’t sleep alone?
Was he seriously implying… that he wanted her to sleep with him?!
No way!
Had he completely shattered his usual persona? Or was he planning to dispose of her the same way he did his fiancée—testing his methods on her first?!
Based on what she knew about him, the latter seemed much more likely!
Terrified, the little beauty’s face turned pale. She waved her slender fingers in the air in protest.
“No, no, no! Absolutely not!”
The man gave her a puzzled look, his handsome features showing a trace of confusion.
Jiang Yaoyao stammered, struggling to piece her words together.
“I… I’m not that kind of person…”
The man chuckled softly, his narrow eyes curving into a teasing arc.
“What kind of person?”
Jiang Yaoyao braced herself.
“I don’t do… sleep arrangements!”
The next moment, she saw a flicker of surprise cross the villain’s face.
His lips curled slightly, and his lowered voice carried an almost imperceptible sigh.
“Little one, is that really how you see me?”
His long fingers, carrying a faint scent of cool wood, reached toward her and gently tapped her forehead. The fleeting touch left a slightly cool sensation on her skin, making her instinctively want to nuzzle against it.
But before she could react, the feeling was gone. Pei Heng withdrew his hand, his gaze lowered, his expression unreadable as he spoke with a faint smile.
“Yaoyao, you misunderstood me.”
“I was simply saying that I’ve been struggling with insomnia lately.”
“Miss Jiang, you have a very soothing voice, so I’d like to hire you as my personal sleep aid.”
His tone was perfectly composed, his expression upright and proper.
Which made Jiang Yaoyao, who had just blurted out such an embarrassing statement, want to bury herself in a hole.
No wonder he saved her.
So this was the real reason.
Her face burned with shame, as if she were being roasted over an open flame.
She turned beet red, so flustered that even her voice lost its strength.
“But… I don’t know anything about sleep therapy…”
Afraid he wouldn’t believe her, she weakly added,
“Not even a little bit…”
“It’s fine,” Pei Heng said calmly. “Miss Jiang doesn’t need any special skills. You just need to read to me or talk to me at night when it’s convenient.”
The villainous tycoon was not only extremely polite but also very respectful. And considering he had just saved her, refusing him now felt like an act of ungratefulness.
He stood with the light behind him, the morning sun casting a golden glow on his sharply defined features, making his noble aura all the more striking.
And the words he spoke next carried an undeniable allure:
“Of course, as for payment, please rest assured. We’ll go by the highest industry standards—ten thousand per hour. Does that sound acceptable to you?”
The little beauty blinked, utterly stunned by the overwhelming offer. Stars practically shone in her eyes as she exclaimed,
“Yes, yes!”
Ten thousand per hour, ten thousand per hour—so for just a few hours, that’s tens of thousands!
The little beauty’s heart raced with excitement. In a daze, she imagined her bank balance suddenly swelling with all those zeroes flooding in.
In that instant, all thoughts of keeping her distance from Pei Heng were thrown completely out the window. Her eyes sparkled, reflecting a galaxy of stars, dazzling and bright.
“When do we start, Mr. Pei?!”
She was eager, practically staring at him with puppy-dog eyes.
The tall man curved his eyes slightly in amusement and leaned in, closing the distance between them.
A cool, crisp scent enveloped her as his deep voice, rich and lingering, teased her ears.
“It’s still daytime, after all.”
“Yaoyao, don’t be so impatient.”
The little beauty’s flushed cheeks turned an even deeper shade of pink.
The villain was way too close. At this distance, she could hear his breathing clearly.
Like this, if Pei Heng lowered his head just a little, or if she stood on tiptoe just slightly…
They would kiss.
The thought flashed through her mind like a spark of electricity, sending a jolt through her body.
She instantly straightened up, stepping back two paces in a panic.
She was only wearing a men’s dress shirt that barely covered her thighs, the collar slightly open with two buttons undone, revealing the elegant curves of her collarbones.
As she moved back, her fair and slender legs came fully into view, right in the man’s direct line of sight.
Her skin was porcelain-white, her figure delicate yet perfectly proportioned.
The places that should have curves—certainly did.
He still remembered carrying her last night—how effortlessly his large hands had sunk into the soft flesh of her thighs with just the slightest pressure.
Pei Heng’s gaze skimmed over her, then—very restrainedly—he pulled it away.
But she was simply too dazzling.
She didn’t have to do anything.
Just standing there was enough to capture all of his attention.
Being alone with Jiang Yaoyao required an immense amount of self-control.
As Pei Heng finally averted his gaze, Jiang Yaoyao belatedly realized something was off.
She was only wearing a man’s dress shirt, standing there baring her legs while talking to Pei Heng.
Not exactly appropriate.
The little beauty, with her fair, rosy cheeks, bit her lip instinctively, thinking of sending him away—but at the last second, her words took a different turn.
“Mr. Pei, last night… I wasn’t wearing these clothes.”
The man gave a low, pleasant hum.
“I know.”
Jiang Yaoyao pressed her lips together, her fingertips brushing against the fabric of the men’s dress shirt she was wearing.
“Then… is this shirt yours?”
