Chapter 52 2/2
“You can inquire around. How many security companies across the country only recruit retired military personnel and still offer such high treatment? Bringing in teachers from various industries, providing year-end bonuses, and even retirement benefits.
Does Director Sheng have too much money? She just hopes that you, the men and women who have worked hard to defend the country, can live a good life! You can earn money with your own abilities! And earn a lot of money!”
When they heard this, the emotions of the trainees had already been completely stirred up.
Qin Guo’s powerful voice echoed:
“Tell me, Sheng Dong has been so good to us, thinking for us with all her heart. Can we let her down?”
Healthy and sun-kissed students responded loudly:
“No!!!!”
“Faced with the opportunities Sheng Dong has given us and the green channel she has created for us, we should work even harder! We should prove that her decisions are not wrong! We deserve this channel! What do you say, everyone?”
“Yes!!!!”
“Finally, supporting Sheng Dong, supporting the company, is protecting ourselves. I hope everyone understands this.”
On the second floor, Sheng Quan listened to Qin Guo’s resolute voice and remarked, “No wonder Jiang Ge said we can trust the loyalty of the students.”
The Qin Advisor was really good at stirring emotions. Even Sheng Quan, who had never been in the military, felt a surge of enthusiasm listening to him.
In just a few words, Qin shifted the narrative from “Is it too strict to screen out those who make mistakes?” to “One person’s mistake can affect how others perceive the entire group.”
After this, even if a student violated the rules, others would likely actively prevent it because it would tarnish “everyone’s honor.”
Jiang Lu didn’t look surprised. He smirked, and there was a hint of nostalgia in his eyes.
“He used to train us like this too. Sometimes strict, but I knew he did it for our good. He cared deeply for every soldier he trained.”
Sheng Quan agreed.
“Is his family still not happy with him working in the Magic City?”
Speaking of this, Jiang Lu’s eyes showed a trace of a smile:
“He has mentioned it many times on the phone. Among the three siblings, the two younger sisters are more understanding. After visiting and seeing how well he’s doing, they stopped persuading him. The eldest brother is in a confidential unit, and it’s said that he finally managed to get some time off, probably coming in these days.”
Yes, Qin’s eldest brother was on his way.
When they first learned that Qin Guo was working in the Magic City, the Qin siblings thought their father was being rebellious!
In his sixties, he should be enjoying his retirement. Why insist on working? And in a security consulting job that required physical strain? What if something happened? What if it took a toll on his health?
The death of their mother was a significant blow to the entire Qin family. However, the children knew that their father was the one most affected. They were afraid he might not cope well, so they hurriedly sent a grandchild to keep him company.
However, as soon as their daughter went to college and the elderly father lost his companionship, he decided to re-enter the workforce. Qin’s eldest brother was almost choked when he heard this outrageous news.
Busy with missions and unable to take leave, he was anxious but could only rely on his sisters.
After the two sisters took leave and went to the Magic City, they returned with surprising news for him:
“Brother, Dad is doing well there. The conditions are excellent, and he likes it. Let him stay.”
Qin’s eldest brother almost suspected he was hearing things.
If he weren’t a staunch materialist warrior, he would have asked his two sisters, “Have you both been enchanted?”
For a man in his sixties, even if he could handle himself well, going to work alone in the Magic City, a place without relatives or friends, and actually thinking it’s good?
Knowing that their father was persuasive, Qin’s eldest brother firmly believed that his two sisters had been coaxed by their old father, even though they were approaching forty.
And now he had arrived at the Starlight Security Training Base.
Before entering, Qin’s eldest brother was already startled by the imposing gate.
“This gate… must have cost a lot.”
The young employee guiding him smiled and explained, “Your father personally designed it, with a complete password system. Look up at the cameras; it has an independent security system. Each person entering and exiting has their own unique password and facial recognition.”
Qin’s eldest brother: “…”
This level of confidentiality almost rivaled their unit.
He asked, “Isn’t this a training base? Why is the security so… strict?”
“Because we are a security company, the security of our own company is naturally a top priority.”
After a set process by the young employee, the gate opened. It was entirely different from what Qin’s eldest brother had imagined, with neat floors and beautiful glass buildings.
Some male and female trainees in Starlight Security training suits passed by, chatting:
“What are you eating today?”
“Bulk up. I want to do extra training. I didn’t get selected as Sheng Dong’s bodyguard this time, but maybe there will be a chance next time.”
“I’m just having a healthy meal. The nutritionist said I’m maintaining well in my current state.”
Qin’s eldest brother: “…”
He couldn’t help asking again, “You have nutritionists here too?”
“Yes, for better protecting the employer, the trainees’ physical health is also crucial.”
Seeing Qin’s eldest brother hesitating, the young employee kindly added:
“Please rest assured; the chief advisor is also provided meals by a nutritionist. Our company also has professional health managers, rehabilitation therapists, and psychological counselors. The chief advisor also has two assistants dedicated to him. So, you don’t need to worry about health matters.”
Qin’s eldest brother: “…”
He only had one assistant.
No, wait, perhaps health could be managed normally, but what if there was a sudden illness? This was the suburbs, and if someone fell ill, what if there wasn’t enough time to get to the hospital?
While he was thinking, the two of them arrived in front of a large building. The young employee introduced:
“This is the medical room of our training base. The doctors are all professionals. Inside the big vehicle parked at the entrance, there is equipment used in ambulances. After all, our base is on the outskirts. If a patient appears inside the base, waiting for an ambulance to come and then take the patient away might not be quick enough. So, the boss prepared these.”
Qin’s elder brother looked through the glass at the various professional equipment in the medical room, and then they passed by the library.
Although he didn’t understand why there would be a library in a bodyguard training base, he knew his father loved reading. Qin’s elder brother could tell that his father would definitely love this library.
As they walked through, they passed by a screening room, a small karaoke room, a laundry room, a barber shop, and even in the most remote corner, there was a dog kennel.
Qin’s elder brother: “…”
His father loved dogs the most.
Throughout the journey, his firm resolve wavered until, in the end, after circling around the training base, he saw his father.
His hair had turned black, his clothes were well-groomed, and his hair seemed freshly cut, making him look even more spirited. Since his mother’s passing, he had been melancholic, but now he was smiling and talking with Jiang Lu and a young girl.
He was beaming, and though Qin’s elder brother couldn’t hear what they were saying, the pride and joy on his father’s face were almost overflowing, as if he were… his younger self.
Qin’s elder brother’s nose tingled.
He stared, his mouth opening and closing, and finally, he called out, “Dad.”
The elderly man in front of him turned abruptly, and on that wrinkled face, a surprised smile quickly bloomed.
“Xingbang, you’re here! That’s wonderful!”
The interactions with his father in Qin’s elder brother’s memory have rarely been this intimate since he grew up.
The tone of this pleasantly surprised greeting added a touch of sadness and guilt to his heart. His father was truly getting old, and he must miss him a lot. Otherwise, he could have just taken pictures of the base and sent them to him.
Was this… his way of letting him come and visit?
Watching his father, who was in his sixties, briskly walk towards him, Qin’s elder brother opened his arms, ready to welcome this long-awaited hug.
“Dad, I… Hey? Hey hey hey? Dad, be gentle!”
In a state of confusion, Qin’s elder brother was pulled in front of Sheng Quan by his father.
Looking equally confused, he watched as his father excitedly presented him to Sheng Quan.
“Sheng Dong, this is my son, Qin Xingbang. You mentioned wanting to invest in some domestic special effects company, right? Ask him! He knows! As long as it doesn’t involve classified information, and he has a bunch of classmates who also understand this!”
“It’s them, the classified personnel. Although they can take part-time jobs, getting approval from the unit and going through the process takes time, right, Xingbang? You have this rule, don’t you?”
Qin’s elder brother, still looking bewildered, nodded. “Yes, there is such a rule. Usually, it gets approved, but it takes a lot of time. Dad, are you trying to introduce me to a job?”
“It’s okay; I’ve figured it out.”
Just as he finished answering, he heard his beloved father enthusiastically propose a genius solution:
“Part-time work should be paid.”
“Why don’t you just not take payment?”
