Interlude: The Knight Commander Is Confused by the Natural Salt Attack Woman
Rewind time to before Lydia started throwing salt at the slime.
In Yuri Wiggins’ office were the stepson of the Earl who rules the territory of Eudrais, and the commander of the Wiggins Knights.
While I, Yuri, was on duty as the commander of the Knights, I received a report that a slime was rampaging through the city.
It was unprecedented for a monster that lived in the forest to appear in the city, so it was easy to imagine that the city was in chaos.
There were very few people in the city who were capable of defeating monsters, and if the Knights did not act quickly, in the worst case scenario, there could be casualties.
It was only a single slime that had appeared in the city, so I thought it would be inappropriate for a large group of people to defeat it, so I hurried off with my vice-commander to go and defeat it.
Or at least that was what I was supposed to do.
I looked at the scene from a distance while on horseback, a girl was already confronting the monster. Her dark blue hair was flowing and she was fighting back with magic.
I immediately rode my horse to help the girl, but her strange behavior afterwards made me stop involuntarily.
When the girl realized that her magic was ineffective, she started throwing something at the slime.
“Natural salt attack!”
She continued to throw things while shouting.
Strangely enough, it seemed to be effective on the slime as it gradually shrank and weakened its attacking power…
I called out to the vice-leader who had stopped his horse next to me.
“What did she just say?”
“If I’m not mistaken… she said natural salt attack.”
“What does that mean…?”
I was confused by the girl’s incomprehensible actions and words.
Moreover, for some reason, she cooperated with the residents who were there and started throwing things at the slime together.
A large group of people were huddled together and throwing things at the slime… was it some kind of mysterious ritual?
After finally succeeding in defeating it, they held hands and shared their joy.
“Is it possible for a slime to be defeated with attacks other than magic and swords?”
“There’s no precedent for that. Let’s check the scene first.”
I rode my horse to the scene, but the girl had already left.
I went to check on the big slime that had been rampaging earlier. The slime had shrunk, but it still had its shape, and was wriggling along the ground.
It seemed that they hadn’t been able to completely defeat it, so I pierced it from above with my sword.
The slime immediately dispersed, and a magic stone appeared.
A magic stone is a stone that can trap magic, and is found inside the body of all monsters. It only appears when a monster is defeated, and is used in magic tools, making it a valuable item.
When we defeated the slime, the residents who saw us came running over.
“Commander of the Knights! You’ve come!”
“Ah, can you tell me what happened?”
From what I heard, a giant slime suddenly appeared in the city. It attacked homes and people with its unique attacks.
It was the first time that a monster had appeared in the city, and those who were there could only run for their lives. But then a girl appeared.
“It was truly amazing! She faced the monster all by herself, used magic, threw something at it to weaken it, and finally joined forces with the people there… With her quick reaction and adaptability, she defeated the slime!”
The man in front of me was overcome with emotion as he explained the girl’s actions.
“And what’s more, the person who defeated the slime was actually the ‘villianess’ from the royal capital. It’s surprising, isn’t it?”
“From the royal capital… Could it be Lydia-sama?”
“That’s it!”
I had heard rumors about Lydia-sama, that she had been broken off from her engagement by the prince and banished to Eudrais territory.
The rumors were all about her running a strange shop, having a bad personality, and so on, but the truth might be different.
Due to circumstances, I had never actually met her, but…
I was a little curious as to what kind of person she was.
