Chapter 14: Congee with Century Egg and Pork Isn’t So Bad After All
Chen Lu felt like he had been bitten by a clumsy little white rabbit, and for a moment he couldn’t recover.
After all, he was high attack, low defense.
After all, he had spent the past few years chasing Mo Yuqing, and he hadn’t even dated, let alone received positive feedback from Mo Yuqing. How could he withstand this stimulation?
What did that “hmm” mean?
Was she joking?
She didn’t seem like the type to joke.
Did someone else send it?
That didn’t seem right either. Liang Zhirou should be living with her mother.
Her account being hacked was even more impossible. As the saying goes, no scammer would ever try to scam someone like him with a two-dimensional anime avatar.
Thinking about this, Chen Lu suddenly became curious about Liang Zhirou’s mother. Although he couldn’t rule out the possibility that Liang Zhirou didn’t want to talk about it, he had indeed been afraid of making her sad and hadn’t asked about it.
He should try to find out more about Liang Zhirou…
She was a strange girl.
……
The next day.
Chen Lu got up early, with dark circles under his eyes, brushed his teeth and washed his face, grabbed a steamed bun from Jiang Chao and was about to leave.
“You damn…” Jiang Chao saw his breakfast stolen and was about to scold him, but when he saw Chen Lu, who was already dressed, he was stunned.
Although Chen Lu didn’t usually walk around in just his underwear like them, it was rare to see him dressed so early in the morning.
“Give me two more buns, I’m hungry.” Chen Lu mumbled.
“Get lost, these are from my girlfriend, if you want some, go find yourself a girlfriend.”
Jiang Chao looked like he had seen a ghost, and asked in confusion, “Where are you going?”
“To be a slave for the drama club. I owed the vice president a favor when I helped Li Siannian yesterday.” Chen Lu told the truth.
Although he didn’t tell the whole truth.
“Do you really have feelings for that girl you met at the school gate?” Jiang Chao continued the topic they hadn’t finished last night.
In this regard, he was indeed like an old mother hen.
He wasn’t like this before, but since he got together with Liu Yan, he seemed to have been assimilated.
Chen Lu swallowed what was in his mouth and said, “Do I look like that kind of frivolous person? But she is really nice, at least…”
He didn’t finish the sentence, “at least being with her is more fun than before.”
“Just consider yourself to have been tricked by her with a piece of candy.”
After saying that, he opened the door and went out.
The weather was good today, at least it wasn’t too cold or too hot at this time of day. The clouds were flying high, and the air was fresh.
I actually got up at seven o’clock for two days in a row. As a college student, I’m really decadent.
Chen Lu thought to himself, and soon he arrived at the drama club’s training location.
Finding that he had arrived earlier than Liang Zhirou, Chen Lu felt relieved.
After all, if she wanted to see me earlier, she shouldn’t be waiting for me.
“Senior, your panda eyes are too obvious.” Lin Miaomiao was wearing proper clothes today, and still looked like a high school student.
Of course, this also had to do with her being a “flat chested” girl.
Chen Lu glanced at her, sitting leisurely on the chair, and felt uncomfortable.
“Vice President, there’s a cockroach on your chair.”
“Ah!” Lin Miaomiao was so scared that she jumped up, almost performing a lightning five-strike whip.
Chen Lu gently pulled the chair over and sat down comfortably.
“You…” Lin Miaomiao was about to scold him, but when she heard someone calling her, she suppressed her anger.
No, if I kill him, Liang Zhirou will be sad.
Looking at the girl’s back, Chen Lu felt even more comfortable sitting down.
It’s still more comfortable to sit on a stolen chair. My own chair is not as fragrant as hers.
He did come here with the mindset of being a slave, but that didn’t mean he wanted to stand and wait for Liang Zhirou.
Another fifteen minutes passed, and Liang Zhirou still hadn’t arrived.
This made Chen Lu a little curious. Although she didn’t live on campus, she did say that she would come early.
Just as he was suspecting that he had been tricked into having feelings for her, he saw a thin girl walking slowly from a distance, carrying a lunch box.
She swayed and wobbled like a powerless penguin.
When she saw Chen Lu, Liang Zhirou quickly walked a little faster.
Finally, she came to him and handed him the lunch box.
She lowered her head and said, “I made you some porridge, do you want to try it?”
The girl’s voice was almost drowned out by the dust, her two hands were restless, twisting and turning against each other.
Like a primary school student who had just finished their homework, worried about making mistakes, and worried about being criticized.
Liang Zhirou’s long hair was loose, and even though he couldn’t see her eyes, he could tell from a closer look that her face was delicate and fair, her expression was gentle, and she had a kind of charm of Jiangnan women, looking a bit classical, different from her usual style of wearing a low ponytail that was suitable for work.
She would probably look great in ancient costumes.
Chen Lu was stunned for a moment, but still subconsciously took it, his eyes blinking, and he asked softly, “Why did you make porridge for me?”
When he saw the girl’s dark circles, Chen Lu’s pupils also shrank sharply.
Seeing that Chen Lu didn’t reject her as she expected, Liang Zhirou breathed a sigh of relief.
After a while, she slowly said, “You have a bad stomach, you probably don’t like to eat breakfast… so I made you some porridge.”
Then she lowered her head even further, “You, if you don’t like it, then forget it. If you like it, I’ll bring it to you when I have time, it’s not much trouble.”
This was of course a lie.
Her dark circles were because she had stayed up late helping her mother massage and got up early to make porridge for Chen Lu.
To make it taste better, she had been using a low fire, and she thought plain porridge was too simple, so she went out to find a supermarket that opened early in the morning and bought the necessary ingredients and pork, making it into congee with century egg and pork.
Chen Lu looked at Liang Zhirou’s dark circles, the same as his, and thought, I don’t believe you for a second.
But he, a big man, was almost about to break down.
He had lived for twenty-one years, and the only people who had gotten up early to make porridge for him, besides his mother, was Liang Zhirou.
This silly girl even took his jokes seriously…
And then she probably got up very early.
As for whether she really wanted to see him, Chen Lu didn’t have the energy to think about it anymore.
In front of her dark circles and this porridge, the answer to that question didn’t matter anymore.
Chen Lu actually couldn’t accept the taste of century egg, he even threw up when he was a kid, but this time he still ate it with his life.
He deliberately ate large mouthfuls, looking like he was enjoying it.
He was actually a little hungry.
Jiang Chao, see that? Can your girlfriend do that?!
Suddenly, Chen Lu felt a little confused.
What’s going on… the century egg doesn’t taste so bad anymore?
Seeing Chen Lu gobble it down, Liang Zhirou finally felt the last stone in her heart settle. She brushed a strand of hair from her ear, thinking that since Chen Lu liked it, she would continue to make it for him when she had time.
Because of her father, she hated stomach problems, so she didn’t want anything to happen to Chen Lu’s stomach.
If Chen Lu was lazy and didn’t like to eat breakfast, she would just have to work harder.
After all, they were good friends…
“Didn’t you sleep well?” Liang Zhirou asked tentatively.
“Guess who it’s because of?” Chen Lu put the lid back on the lunch box, yawned lazily.
The girl didn’t say anything, she felt like Chen Lu was hinting at her. To be honest, after she sent that “嗯” last night, she really wanted to die.
She hesitated for a long time whether to retract it, but she was afraid that Chen Lu had already seen it and that retracting it would make things even more awkward.
She hesitated for a while longer and felt even more like Chen Lu might have already seen it, so she was even more afraid to retract it.
How did she accidentally send it?
Ultimately, it was because Chen Lu kept asking about it, like he was so eager to see him?
Liang Zhirou’s eyelids fluttered, and the scene in front of her became blurry.
Can I go live on Mars…
Why does today’s Liang Zhirou have to be responsible for what yesterday’s Liang Zhirou did!!
