Chapter 4

After leaving the Chu family, Chu Ning took a taxi to the house she rented.

The day after she arrived in this world, she rented that apartment.

The apartment was located in the lower district. Although the place was remote, the rent was reasonable.

Having come from the lower district herself, she was familiar with the environment there.

Now that she had left the Chu family, it was good to have a place to stay.

Back at her place, Chu Ning felt completely relaxed.

She took a bath first, then had a good sleep.

When she woke up, Chu Ning opened her brain to surf the internet and check the news.

She flipped through several pages but didn’t find the news she was looking for.

“Looks like Chu Xin blocked the news. The mess I caused yesterday didn’t get out,” Chu Ning muttered with a hint of regret.

“It’s clear that Chu Xin has made up her mind to protect Chu Yan. She definitely bought back the videos I sent to the media.”

“Well, it’s fine. Right now, I’m not in a position to deal with the Chu family. At least, I successfully severed ties with them. If they don’t come after me, I’m good. If they do, I’ll deal with them again.”

Thinking this, Chu Ning opened her personal panel.

Seeing the balance in her account, she frowned.

She had less than 3,000 star coins left.

“Making money is urgent…” she muttered.

Chu Ning looked at the Xu Miring on her finger.

Then, with a thought, a bottle of pills appeared in her hand.

“Thankfully, Xu Miring recognizes me as its master and came along when I crossed over.”

“But the body cleansing pill should solve the problem.”

Chu Ning said as she took out a body cleansing pill and swallowed it.

The pill worked quickly. Chu Ning hurried to grab a towel and walked briskly to the bathroom.

Chu Ning rushed into the shower and turned on the faucet.

After washing off, she felt much lighter.

The person in the mirror seemed like a completely different person.

Her originally dark and somewhat malnourished skin became fair and glossy.

Her dry yellow hair, nourished, turned into sleek black strands.

She wasn’t sure if it was an illusion, but her body, which used to be too thin, now seemed to have gained some flesh, giving her a much healthier appearance.

As the pill entered her stomach, Chu Ning’s mind cleared, and she felt refreshed.

After tidying up, Chu Ning left the bathroom and returned to the bedroom.

She changed into her pajamas, grabbed two tubes of nutrient liquid, and drank them.

The nutrient liquid had a bland taste, making Chu Ning grimace in dislike.

But she still finished it.

Natural food was too expensive, and processed synthetic food wasn’t easy to prepare. For her, nutrient liquid was the best value.

After drinking the nutrient liquid, the hunger was gone.

Chu Ning threw her dirty clothes in the washing machine, then returned to her room to research some materials.

The first day after leaving the Chu family passed by just like that.

The next day, Chu Ning was woken up by the notification sound from her brain.

“Dear Miss Chu Ning, according to the master brain’s test, you are now over 20 years old and unmarried. Please visit the Information Collection Center within 24 hours to collect and upload your biological information for the master brain to match a partner. Failure to comply within 24 hours will be considered contempt of federal law, and an arrest warrant will be issued.”

Chu Ning frowned.

The brief sense of luck she felt was dispelled.

But there were exceptions; some people used the system to find satisfactory partners.

“Let the system match me, then. I’ve taken the body cleansing pill and the Spirit Nurturing Pill, so my mental strength should have improved. Maybe I won’t get matched with a terrible partner.”

“Even if the match isn’t perfect, it’s at least better than Zhou Ting and his friends. Those three may look good, but their morals are corrupt.”

Since it couldn’t be changed, she decided to accept it.

With that thought, Chu Ning relaxed.

She got out of bed, fed herself another Spirit Nurturing Pill, and went to wash up.

After all, according to her previous memories, the floating buses in the lower district were quite crowded during the morning rush hour.

After leaving the house, Chu Ning followed the map from her brain to the nearby supermarket.

Seeing the word “free,” Chu Ning felt a little better and went up to the fourth floor.

As soon as she stepped out of the elevator on the fourth floor, she caught the attention of many people.

“Miss, are you here to register for the master brain’s marriage match?” Just as Chu Ning was about to ask someone, a female in a work uniform approached her.

“Yes,” Chu Ning responded.

“There are fewer females, so you don’t have to wait in line. Please follow me.” The female said gently.

Chu Ning nodded and followed her.

The female led Chu Ning into an office.
