Chapter 18
Turning around, Chu Ning shot a “stay calm” glance at Qin Zheng.
She stepped forward, her gaze sweeping over Chu Yan and Zhou Ting.
“Hmph.” A disdainful chuckle.
“Mr. Zhou is as usual, always throwing dirt at people, huh?”
“Last time, Mr. Zhou tried to make me break off the engagement. He clearly had an affair with my former foster sister, yet he falsely accused me of having only E-level spiritual power and being unworthy of you.”
“And this time, it’s even more amusing. It’s your lover, my former foster sister, who caused trouble in the exam room, affecting my answers, and got punished by the pharmacist association, yet now you’re accusing me of slandering her.”
Chu Ning’s words immediately attracted attention from those around them.
Soon, some people recognized Chu Yan and Zhou Ting.
“Is this the adopted daughter of the Chu family? And that guy next to her is the Zhou family’s young master?”
“I can’t believe I’m seeing the real-life homewrecker! Zhou Ting is really a scoundrel—he’s hooking up with his future sister-in-law even before the wedding, and now he’s having the gall to trouble his ex-fiancée. Are beastmen this arrogant nowadays?”
“Man, how shameless can these trashy characters get? The hot search is still full of them, and they still dare to make trouble for the rightful partner!”
“Quick, quick, record this on your brain!”
In an instant, several people pulled out their light brains to record the scene.
While filming, they couldn’t help but criticize Chu Yan and Zhou Ting aloud.
With all the attention, Zhou Ting’s face turned red with anger.
“Shut up! Chu Ning, you’re framing me and Miss Chu Yan!” Zhou Ting shouted at Chu Ning while raising his hand to shield her and block the cameras.
“Framing?” Chu Ning laughed out loud.
She pulled out her light brain and projected a video into the air.
The video showed two bodies, blurred out but clearly entangled in a passionate embrace, with raspy voices and full effort.
The scene was eerily familiar—it was the same as the one she played at the birthday banquet, showing the two in the act of their affair.
“Shut it off! Chu Ning!” Zhou Ting’s eyes widened in rage as he charged toward her.
But before he could get close, Qin Zheng kicked him away with a single blow.
Then, a pressure filled the room, and Zhou Ting couldn’t even get back up under the force.
Zhou Ting, struggling to move, looked at Qin Zheng with fear in his eyes.
The man’s aura was overwhelming—Zhou Ting, a peak B-level beastman, was completely immobilized. What kind of strength did this person have?
Chu Yan, too, was stunned.
This handsome beastman, was he stronger than Zhou Ting?
How did this useless girl, Chu Ning, manage to attract such a high-quality beastman?
Seeing Qin Zheng act, Chu Ning quickly stepped forward and grabbed his wrist.
“Release the pressure.” She said in a deep voice.
She had just warned him not to get physical for the time being, and this guy still acted like he could control his body.
Qin Zheng’s cruel expression softened for a moment, then he released the pressure.
Chu Ning let out a quiet sigh of relief.
With a regretful glance from the onlookers, Chu Ning turned off the video.
Zhou Ting, who was gasping for air on the floor, took a couple of heavy breaths.
Chu Yan was the first to snap back to reality.
“This time you’ve won, Chu Ning, but we’ll see who gets the last laugh!” she sneered.
She immediately pulled Zhou Ting up and fled, embarrassed and angry.
Before leaving, she gave Qin Zheng a glance.
Chu Ning, however, stood in front of Qin Zheng, blocking Chu Yan’s view.
“Game on!” she shouted after Chu Yan.
It seemed she was addicted to fighting over her partner. But too bad, she had no interest in those three unsightly men earlier, but this one… well, he was fine.
Qin Zheng looked down at Chu Ning, a smile curling up at the corner of his lips.
At this moment, the crowd began to disperse.
Chu Ning sighed and turned around.
She took a bottle of tranquilizer pills from her storage ring and handed it to Qin Zheng.
“Try not to get physical again. If you have to, remember to take one of these pills when you feel like you can’t control yourself.”
She couldn’t blame him for acting out against Zhou Ting, as it was partly because of her.
“Thank you, wife.” Qin Zheng smiled brightly, his voice sweet like honey.
Chu Ning almost lost her focus.
“I’m going to schedule the practical exam now.” She quickly said and turned to leave.
Was this guy a tiger beastman or a fox beastman?
Qin Zheng’s smile grew wider as he followed her.
Chu Ning arrived at the self-service registration machine where she had signed up earlier. After completing a few steps, she booked the next available practical exam.
The exam was set to start in 20 minutes, so she didn’t delay and immediately headed toward the exam room.
When they arrived outside the exam room, Qin Zheng gave Chu Ning some encouragement, then, like before, waited outside.
Chu Ning entered the exam room and found a pill refining station, entering her details before waiting for the exam to begin.
The exam room was vast, but only a few people had signed up for the practical exam. Compared to the written exam, the number of participants was much smaller.
It was no surprise, since written exams mostly involved memorization and review, and passing them wasn’t that hard. But practical exams were much more challenging.
Also, the exam fee for the written exam was far less than the practical one.
Chu Ning waited for a short while before the system in the room chimed, signaling the start of the exam.
The first question appeared on the equipment in front of her.
“Question 1: Please use the materials on the operation table to refine pain relief pills. The required quantity is at least 20 pills. The exam time is 30 minutes. The qualified candidate will move to the next question. Unqualified candidates must leave immediately.”
Chu Ning immediately started processing the materials, preparing the herbs.
She then took the pill furnace from the operation table and began refining.
Including the time spent handling the materials, it took less than 20 minutes for Chu Ning to finish the pills.
The quantity of pills was just as she had expected—24 in total.
She placed them in a bottle, and the system immediately moved to the next question.
The second question was nearly identical to the first, but this time, she was to refine blood clotting pills.
Chu Ning breezed through it again.
The third question was the more difficult one: to refine strength pills. Because of the higher difficulty, the passing quantity was only 18 pills.
Chu Ning still made 24 high-quality pills and passed smoothly.
“Congratulations! You have successfully passed the pharmacist exam. You may now go to the service hall to receive your pharmacist badge.”
Chu Ning smiled with satisfaction and tidied up her workstation before walking out with light steps.
Outside the exam room, Qin Zheng immediately approached her when he saw her.
“Wife, how did it go?”
“I passed. Now I’m going to get my badge,” Chu Ning replied with a smile, continuing toward the service hall.
“Congratulations, wife!” Qin Zheng followed, his eyes filled with joy for her.
At the service hall, Chu Ning queued for a number.
Once her number was called, she went to the window. The staff checked her details and handed her a form.
“Do you have a cooperation agreement with a pharmacy?” the staff asked while Chu Ning was filling out the form.
“No,” Chu Ning answered.
