Chapter 10: Have Fun

Yu Family Manor.

After returning from the garden, Tang Liyue went back to her small room.

Sitting at the little desk by the window, she opened the second-hand laptop she had bought with her scholarship money in her first year of university.

Because the laptop was so old, it took several minutes to load the job portal’s backend.

She glanced at the resumes she had submitted, but they had all sunk like stones into the sea, with no response.

Tang Liyue had studied at A University, majoring in Foreign Languages.

A month ago, she successfully graduated. As a top student in the department, the school had originally arranged for her to work as a translator at a foreign embassy.

But when Aunt Qiu was diagnosed with cancer, Tang Liyue didn’t dare to leave home, so she turned down the school’s offer and decided to find a job on her own.

However, after sending out her resumes a month ago, there was still no news.

Tang Liyue laid her head down on the desk, biting her lower lip in frustration, and let out a sigh of disappointment.

Just then, her phone rang again.

The caller ID displayed: “Princess Jiao Jiao.”

The caller was Qin Jiao Jiao, the daughter of the Director of the A City Bureau of Industry and Commerce, Tang Liyue’s roommate for three years in high school and four years in university, as well as her good friend.

Tang Liyue frowned deeply, not knowing how to explain things to Qin Jiao Jiao.

If Qin Jiao Jiao found out she had entered the Yu family through a proxy marriage and married someone with a disability, given Qin Jiao Jiao’s short temper, she would likely cause a huge uproar between the Tang and Yu families.

After struggling for a while, Tang Liyue decided to lie. “I… I’m out looking for… looking for a job.”

Listening to the long string of kisses from Qin Jiao Jiao, Tang Liyue couldn’t help but smile.

At this moment, it was the most relaxed she’d felt since stepping into the Yu family.

After tidying up a bit, Tang Liyue grabbed her phone and got ready to leave.

As she was heading downstairs, she saw Yu Minchuan coming out of the kitchen, controlling his wheelchair, holding a cup of warm water.

Yu Minchuan glanced at the backpack on Tang Liyue and then smiled, asking, “Are you going out?”

“Mhm, I’m meeting my best friend for milk tea,” Tang Liyue said, then hesitated and asked, “Can I go out?”

Yu Minchuan looked momentarily stunned, then chuckled. “Liyue, you’re really cute.”

“Huh?” Tang Liyue didn’t understand.

Yu Minchuan explained, “Of course, you can go out. You’re free.”

Hearing that her personal freedom wouldn’t be restricted, Tang Liyue visibly relaxed. “Then I’ll head out now.”

Yu Minchuan gave a light smile and nodded.

Just as Tang Liyue was about to leave, she heard Yu Minchuan call her name again.

“Liyue.”

“Huh?” Tang Liyue turned back.

Yu Minchuan wheeled his chair closer to Tang Liyue and smiled. “When you come back, could you bring me a pancake? I haven’t had outside food in so long.”

“Sure!” Buying a pancake was no trouble at all, so Tang Liyue of course agreed.

“Then let’s add each other on WeChat? I’ll send you the address later, but I’m not sure if the shop has moved,” Yu Minchuan said, then lowered his head with a wry smile. “After all, I haven’t been out in three years…”

Tang Liyue froze.

Three years without leaving the house? Spending every day in this empty villa?

Tang Liyue’s heart clenched, unsure whether to feel sorry for Yu Minchuan or pity him.

After thinking for a moment, Tang Liyue spoke up. “Minchuan, we’re really friends, right?”

Yu Minchuan nodded firmly. “Of course.”

Tang Liyue showed a bright smile. “Then today I won’t bring you a pancake, but tomorrow I’ll take you out to buy one!”

Go out?

Yu Minchuan’s eyelashes fluttered, and his fingers subconsciously rubbed against his thigh.

Tang Liyue noticed his movement and directly reached out to pull his hand away from his leg, then looked into his eyes and said with determination, “I will safely take you out, and safely bring you back home.”

She was sincere, kind, gentle, and approachable.

Tang Liyue smiled and jogged out.

Watching Tang Liyue’s cheerful figure, watching her hair sway as she ran, and the fleeting light from the door as it opened and closed, Yu Minchuan felt his heart become unsettled.

Yu Minchuan didn’t understand.

He didn’t understand why Tang Liyue was born into a biased family yet remained untainted by bitterness.

He didn’t understand why she was forced to marry into a den of wolves and tigers but didn’t complain or resent it.

He didn’t understand why, even though she was still suffering, she still had the kind heart to try and help him?

Did he need it?

He didn’t need it.

He didn’t need pity, and he didn’t need to be healed.

He just wanted everyone to pay the price for ignoring him all these years!

As Yu Minchuan sank into darkness, the phone on the side of his wheelchair vibrated.

Yu Minchuan glanced at it out of the corner of his eye, it was a WeChat message from Tang Liyue.

It was a picture.

In the picture, bright sunlight streamed through the dense leaves, casting dappled light on the green lawn.

Yu Minchuan lowered his gaze, uncontrollably opening his phone to view Tang Liyue’s Moments.

The background of her Moments was a sunflower.

Her signature line read: “Without experiencing the storms, how can one see the rainbow?”

To outsiders, Tang Liyue’s Moments might seem old-fashioned and boring.

But Yu Minchuan could see her strong and resilient spirit from it, and he understood why she had such strong self-healing abilities.

Yu Minchuan remained silent for a long time, then finally replied to Tang Liyue’s message.
