Chapter 5 : No one will be spared.

But what they didn’t expect was that the team leader and his group were actually stopped by Sun Qianqian, who refused to let them go to the educated youth site.  

“Captain, please hurry over there! Ye Suiwan is on that path, I saw it with my own eyes.”  

“There’s no way she’s in the dormitory. I didn’t see her come back.”  

“When it got dark, I saw Ye Suiwan with a few hooligans. I called her, but she ignored me, so I left in anger. Now that I think about it, if I don’t go, she might be in danger!”  

Sun Qianqian pretended to look regretful.  

Jiang Sui ran over and listened to everything Sun Qianqian said. If she weren’t a woman, Jiang Sui would have wanted to punch her twice.  

Standing quietly at the side, Xiao Yuyan looked at Sun Qianqian as if she were already a dead person.  

He was certain that Ye Suiwan’s drugging and those men were all connected to this Sun Qianqian. Once he found out the full truth, he wouldn’t let any of them go.  

“Captain, Comrade Ye is indeed in the dormitory. I’m sorry for causing everyone to worry.”  

Jiang Sui bowed to everyone in the dark.  

“No, no, that’s impossible!”  

“How could she be in the dormitory? I can’t be wrong!”  

Sun Qianqian’s face was filled with horror, she refused to believe it.  

“Comrade, why do you sound so jealous of Comrade Ye? It’s as if you’re hoping she’s not there or that something bad has happened to her.”  

Lin Lan couldn’t stand it anymore. This woman actually dared to slander her future daughter-in-law.   

“Doctor Lin is right. What’s wrong with this girl? Making trouble for us in the middle of the night.”  

“Yeah, you’re all educated youths. If something happened to another educated youth, how would that be good for you? You’re still students, and yet you don’t even have as much sense as us, who just work in the fields.”  

The villagers in the crowd all began complaining.  

Because it was late at night, only the men had come out to search.  

When going out collectively at night, even if they split up, they made sure they could still communicate in time. This way, the reputation of the educated youths wouldn’t be harmed.  

If there had been more women, they would have dragged Sun Qianqian aside long ago. But since the men couldn’t do that, she had managed to stop them.  

“I-I didn’t!”  

Sun Qianqian had no idea what had gone wrong. Why was this happening? She was clearly panicking.  

“Doctor Lin, please go check on Comrade Ye again!”  

Jiang Sui directly turned to Lin Lan and asked respectfully.  

He was really worried about Ye Suiwan.  

Xiao Yuyan, standing nearby, immediately became alert. Who was this man, and why did he care so much about his wife?  

But right now, he also needed to go and take another look. After all, he wanted to see her too.  

“Mom, let’s go check!”  

Xiao Yuyan spoke up.  

Lin Lan naturally understood her son’s thoughts.  

“Alright, I’ll go see if her fever has gone down. If it’s still high, that would be troublesome.”  

Lin Lan played along, hoping that the girl would be smart enough to understand.  

“Captain, let the others go back and rest.”  

Seeing that Lin Lan had agreed, Jiang Sui spoke to Jiang Aijun again.  

He truly felt bad for troubling everyone.  

“Alright!”  

“You all go back to sleep. I’ll go with Doctor Xiao to check on her.”  

Jiang Aijun waved his hand, and the villagers obediently returned to their homes. After all, they had to work early in the morning.  

“Thank you, everyone!”  

Jiang Sui spoke again, already thinking about how to repay their kindness.  

The villagers didn’t think it was a big deal. No matter how much they bickered during the day, when something happened, they always helped each other.  

Although the educated youths weren’t locals, they couldn’t be allowed to get into trouble in their village.  

That’s why everyone had come out to search for someone tonight, even though it was the middle of the night. They had no complaints, they just wanted everyone to be safe.  

By this time, Lin Lan, Xiao Yuyan, and Jiang Aijun were already walking ahead.  

Jiang Sui quickly thanked the educated youths, then followed with big strides. Right now, Ye Suiwan’s health was the most important thing.  

Inside the room.  

“You? Comrade Zhou?”  

Ye Suiwan could no longer pretend to be asleep.  

“Comrade Ye, are you okay? Do you still have a fever?”  

Zhou Jingjing and Ye Suiwan weren’t very familiar with each other. After all, for a long time in the countryside, Ye Suiwan had been monopolized by Sun Qianqian, who rarely allowed her to interact with others.  

“How do you know? What happened? I’m much better now, but I still feel a little dizzy.”  

Ye Suiwan pretended to sit up with difficulty, rubbing her temples with a puzzled expression.  

“Just lie down. It’s good to know you’re okay. We can talk about the rest tomorrow.”  

Zhou Jingjing knew that Ye Suiwan and Sun Qianqian were supposedly close friends, so she didn’t want to say too much. If Ye Suiwan wasn’t thinking clearly, she might assume that Zhou Jingjing was trying to drive a wedge between them.  

Zhou Jingjing wouldn’t bother with such a thankless task. Tonight, she had acted purely to make Sun Qianqian miserable and seeing her humiliated made Zhou Jingjing very happy.  

As for what really happened, it was better to let Jiang Sui, who had a good relationship with Ye Suiwan, explain it to her.  

Ye Suiwan had no idea what Zhou Jingjing was thinking. If she did, she would probably agree.  

In her past life, under Sun Qianqian’s influence, she had become estranged from the other educated youths. She had always been arrogant, looking down on everyone.  

So when she had gotten into trouble, even though people sympathized with her, no one had comforted her. No one wanted to deal with her cold attitude.  

“Thank you. I’m much better now.”  

“Why are there so many people outside?”  

Ye Suiwan heard voices and pretended to be confused.  

“I’ll go out and check.”  

Zhou Jingjing knew that everyone had returned.  

Jiang Sui was just about to knock when Zhou Jingjing opened the door from inside.  

“Comrade Ye has woken up. She must have been really sick, that’s why she didn’t hear the knocking. I just shook her lightly, and she woke up.”  

Zhou Jingjing explained to everyone, even though she hadn’t actually shaken her.  

“Song Kai, you can take everyone back to rest. You’ve all worked hard. I’ll wait for Doctor Lin to check on her, then I’ll leave.”   

“Alright, since Comrade Jiang is here, we’ll go to bed. We can talk tomorrow if needed.”  

His words were clearly aimed at the panicked Sun Qianqian.  

Song Kai wasn’t stupid. Sun Qianqian’s behavior tonight had been very strange. Although he didn’t know exactly what had happened, it wasn’t hard to figure out that she was involved.  

Sure enough, Sun Qianqian still wouldn’t give up and tried to rush inside to check. She didn’t believe that Ye Suiwan was really there.  

But Li Luo, another female educated youth, blocked her.  

“If you’re fine, then leave. I’m so sleepy.”  

They lived next door, and it was already late. Li Luo just wanted to go back and sleep.  

Just then, Ye Suiwan walked to the door, wearing a coat.  

“Thank you all for worrying about me tonight. I’ll treat you all to dinner tomorrow.”
