Chapter 25.2: Still underestimated the lady’s strength
Both of them, tensed and ready to jump into battle, watched as more than a dozen Black Wind Riders were swiftly dealt with by Su Qingning.
Xiao Huaijin’s mouth was open wide enough to fit an egg.
After a moment of shock, he murmured, “Third… Third Sister-in-law is impressive…”
Liu Qing was also momentarily stunned, but quickly regained his composure and jumped up to check on Su Qingning and Xiao Huaishuo repeatedly.
Only after confirming that they were not harmed did he let out a long sigh of relief.
Su Qingning felt warmth in her heart and reassured them, “Grandmother, don’t worry, I’m fine.”
She then became serious again, saying, “This is just a small squad; the big fish is still outside.”
“Fourth Brother, you protect everyone well. I’ll be back soon.”
After quickly changing into a black outfit behind the screen, she turned and leaped into the darkness outside the window.
“Third Brother, is it dangerous for Sister-in-law to go alone?”
Xiao Huaijin struggled to keep up with Su Qingning’s pace and asked Xiao Huaishuo for his opinion.
Liu Qing also looked worried.
Although she knew Ningning was very capable, in her eyes, she was still a child who needed care and love.
Xiao Huaishuo fixed his gaze on a luxurious carriage parked not far away and said calmly, “The one coming is the deputy leader of the Black Wind Riders, Feng Detian. He is foolish and ignorant, relying on the fact that he is the Third Prince’s cousin to hold his current position. Your sister-in-law should be able to handle him.”
Even he didn’t realize that he was showing signs of nervousness, his eyes glued to the departing Su Qingning.
The other two sighed in relief upon hearing this but remained attentive to any movements from Su Qingning.
At the same time, in another room of the post station, dim light was glowing quietly.
Li Yang, the deputy officer of the exile team, was pacing with a furrowed brow.
“Cousin, are we really just going to sit back and let those people attack the Xiao family?!”
Zhao Jinhai, the team leader, also frowned deeply.
“What else can we do? We are just lowly bodies; how can we interfere in the matters of the nobles?”
Li Yang seemed a bit agitated, looking earnestly at Zhao Jinhai: “Brother! That’s the illustrious Xiao family! Have you forgotten that ten years ago our entire family was captured by the Xirong and it was the battle king, Xiao Boliang, who saved us?”
“Over the years, the young men of the Xiao family have fought countless victories, allowing us common folk to have the peaceful life we enjoy now.”
“Our savior is in front of us, and we’re just going to stand by and do nothing?!”
Zhao Jinhai looked troubled as well.
“What can we do? We are no match for those Black Wind Riders; rushing out won’t help them.”
Li Yang anxiously paced the room a few more times, as if finally making an important decision.
With a determined look, he said to Zhao Jinhai, “How will we know we can’t save them if we don’t at least try?”
“Brother, Grandfather instructed me before he passed away to remember the great kindness of the Xiao family for a lifetime! I’m afraid if I close the door and do nothing now, I won’t be able to find peace of mind every night afterward. When we meet again in a hundred years, I won’t have any explanation for him!”
With that, he rushed out without looking back.
“Hey…”
Zhao Jinhai sighed helplessly, downing the rest of his drink. He followed after him.
On the other side of the post station.
After jumping out of the window, Su Qingning, guided by Xiao Ai, quickly found the luxurious carriage not far from the post station.
Without hesitation, she found a large rock to rest the silenced sniper rifle on, aiming at the Black Wind Riders standing solemnly outside the carriage.
At that moment, a man’s sharp voice suddenly came from the nearby bushes:
“Who?!”
