Chapter 24 : A life worse than death is the best punishment.
Wang Erniu pushed a cart, and Sun Qianqian followed beside him in a daze.
“I’m here to help Qianqian move her things. She won’t be living in the educated youth camp anymore.”
As Wang Erniu spoke, he glanced at Ye Suiwan but quickly averted his gaze.
After saying that, he pulled Sun Qianqian along.
“Which dormitory is yours? Let’s hurry up so we don’t hold everyone up.”
At that moment, Sun Qianqian shot a vicious glare at Ye Suiwan.
Ye Suiwan raised her eyes to look at her.
What Sun Qianqian saw in her gaze was a cold indifference she had never experienced before. In that instant, she realized that she and Ye Suiwan would never have anything to do with each other again.
If she had listened to her mother, could they have remained good sisters for life?
She immediately dismissed the thought.
She had no way out now. She had to come up with another plan so long as she was still alive, there would always be a chance.
If Ye Suiwan could hear her thoughts, she would undoubtedly call her a lunatic without hesitation.
“I’ll take you there!”
Song Kai, the person in charge of the educated youth camp, stepped forward and led the way.
The others exchanged glances but said nothing.
Once everyone had left, Zhou Jingjing immediately stood up.
“Hurry up and wash the dishes, then go back to rest!”
After giving the order, she hurried to the well, and the others quickly got to work.
Zhou Jingjing wanted to hear more gossip!
She had to see what was happening!
Although she didn’t know the full story, she was sure that Sun Qianqian had lost more than she had gained. Wang Erniu must have had some leverage over her otherwise, how could he have gotten her to marry him?
Tsk tsk!
She had seen foolish people before, but never someone stupid enough to sell themselves out.
Ye Suiwan didn’t concern herself with these matters. This was merely the first step in Sun Qianqian’s downfall.
“Suiwan, don’t you want to go take a look?”
Zhou Jingjing approached Ye Suiwan, who was heading back to the dormitory.
“No… I hope you bring me good news. I’m going to rest.”
Ye Suiwan knew that Zhou Jingjing wouldn’t miss the chance to watch Sun Qianqian leave, so she simply responded.
“Alright, you’ve been busy cooking, go rest!”
With that, she left.
As soon as Sun Qianqian arrived at the dormitory and opened the door, Wang Erniu eagerly rushed in to see what was inside.
Everything in here belonged to him now!
The wardrobe, the table and chairs, the canned food, malted milk, cakes, and the pink quilt on the bed, even though they were second-hand, they showed how well-off she was!
He was in an excellent mood. Those men who had slept with her didn’t get a single thing from her, but he did.
He had to coax every last bit of money out of this wretched girl. And her mother, wasn’t she in Jing City?
She must be rich.
“Qianqian, sit down and rest. I can pack up by myself. Don’t tire yourself out.”
“I promise I won’t mess up your things.”
After saying that, Wang Erniu got to work.
Of course, he wouldn’t make a mess because everything now belonged to him.
Although Sun Qianqian had a lot of belongings, they were neatly arranged. Wang Erniu carefully loaded them onto the cart, feeling happier with each item he took. If Song Kai weren’t standing nearby, he might have burst out laughing.
“Thank you, Comrade Educated Youth. I can handle this myself. You should go get some rest.”
Wang Erniu took the opportunity to dismiss him.
“Okay!”
Song Kai had been waiting for those words, he had no intention of staying any longer.
Zhou Jingjing leaned against the corner of a nearby house, watching the scene unfold.
She and Ye Suiwan lived in the last row of dormitories.
Seeing the cart piled high with Sun Qianqian’s belongings and the greedy expression on Wang Erniu’s face, she knew that Sun Qianqian’s hardships were only just beginning.
But she didn’t feel sympathy, nor was she particularly happy. She just observed.
Now that she had seen enough and understood the situation, she turned to leave.
Ye Suiwan’s door was closed she must have already gone to sleep. Zhou Jingjing decided she’d tell her about it in the afternoon.
Sun Qianqian followed Wang Erniu back to his home.
The moment she stepped into the yard, a foul stench filled her nose.
Looking at the three dilapidated thatched huts ahead, she instinctively tried to back away.
“You … why are you running away?”
“If you run again, I’ll tie you up!”
The moment Wang Erniu stepped inside, his expression turned vicious and aggressive.
Sun Qianqian’s eyes widened in shock. She never expected him to turn on her so quickly.
“I need to call my mom!”
“I want to make a phone call!”
Sun Qianqian shouted after a brief moment.
“Shut up and save your energy. No one can hear you out here.”
“You do need to call your mom, but making a call costs money. Do you understand?”
Wang Erniu said sinisterly.
“Mom, your daughter-in-law is here! From now on, all the housework will be her responsibility.”
“You can order her around however you like.”
He then called toward the house.
After a while, an old woman hobbled out with a cane.
Widow Wang had struggled to raise Wang Erniu. She never imagined that her good-for-nothing son would actually manage to get married.
Now, seeing Sun Qianqian was like a wolf spotting fresh meat.
“Hahaha! Good, good! Erniu, you’ve really stepped up! Make sure she gives birth to a child soon. Then I, your mother, will have no regrets when I die.”
The way Widow Wang looked at Sun Qianqian sent chills down her spine.
“Alright, Mother. These things are for you, put them in your room!”
Wang Erniu said as he began moving the belongings.
“This is mine!”
Sun Qianqian stepped forward to stop him.
“Get lost!”
Without hesitation, Wang Erniu grabbed Sun Qianqian and tossed her aside.
“Mom, I’m going to lock her up first.”
“Okay, okay, go ahead. Mom will help you move the things.”
Widow Wang immediately threw aside her crutches and walked over energetically.
Sun Qianqian was dumbfounded. Was she faking her frailty all along?
Feeling Sun Qianqian’s resentful gaze, Widow Wang stopped in front of her.
“Be obedient from now on, and I’ll be a good mother-in-law to you. But if you dare defy me, don’t blame me for making your life miserable!”
There was no way she would let this girl escape and seduce her son.
“You… you people… I’m calling the police!”
Sun Qianqian was on the verge of a breakdown. Why? Why had things turned out like this?
Where did she go wrong?
Even in her foolishness, she now understood what kind of fate awaited her.
“Call the police? You’re my legally wedded wife. This is a family matter, the police won’t interfere.”
With that, he dragged her inside.
“Since you refuse to listen, I’ll teach you a lesson first. Don’t think I don’t know how wild you were when those other men had their way with you.”
“You… You! Get away from me! Go away!”
Sun Qianqian completely broke down.
But what awaited her was even worse, cruel and relentless abuse.
“Useless woman! But I have to say, city girls really are something else!”
Wang Erniu sneered at Sun Qianqian, who had already fainted.
He pulled up his pants and continued moving her belongings outside.
Meanwhile, Ye Suiwan remained unaware of everything that had happened.
From the moment Sun Qianqian had schemed to harm someone, she should have realized that karma would come back to bite her.
In his past life, when he followed Xiao Yuyan’s investigation, he had learned one thing:
In order to steal her older sister’s fiancé, who later became Sun Qianqian’s father in the army, Sun Qianqian’s mother had orchestrated a plan. She tricked her own sister into marrying a sleazy lowlife from the village.
At first, things seemed fine, but later, that scumbag forced her into prostitution in exchange for food and money. Eventually, unable to bear the suffering, she drowned herself in the river.
If Ye Suiwan knew what had become of Sun Qianqian, she would only hope she lived a long life.
A scourge like her should endure endless suffering because a fate worse than death is the best punishment.
