Chapter 103 “Mother”
Chen Lu was very efficient. He went home that night to pack his things.
Since the dormitory would no longer be theirs after the end of their junior year, Chen Lu had already taken many of his clothes home in advance.
“Rare guest.”
Wang Xiaoxia, who was sitting on the sofa reading a book, saw her son come back and chuckled sarcastically:
“What are you back for, Master Chen?”
Chen Lu felt a shiver run down his spine. He sat next to Wang Xiaoxia and began massaging her shoulders. “I came back to see you, I miss you so much.”
Wang Xiaoxia didn’t believe his lies at all, but she didn’t rush to expose him. “Really, such a good son is hard to find even with a lantern.”
Chen Lu knew Wang Xiaoxia knew he was putting on an act, and Wang Xiaoxia also knew that Chen Lu knew she knew he was putting on an act.
In short, the two of them chatted happily for a while, presenting a beautiful picture of motherly love and filial piety.
After a while, Wang Xiaoxia felt that the massage was almost done. She took out Chen Guanglin’s Seven Wolves cigarettes and placed them on the coffee table, making a “pop” sound.
“Tell me, what are you back for?”
“Mom, can’t I come back to my own home?” Chen Lu was speechless.
“Except when you have something to come back for, do you ever come home?”
Wang Xiaoxia looked at him with a bad temper. In fact, she also knew that this was related to her own parenting style. She and Chen Guanglin would often run out together for a world of two, and Chen Guanglin didn’t like to restrict Chen Lu and Chen Mo’s development. It was normal for the children to be more independent.
When Chen Lu was in high school, she didn’t feel anything about not seeing him. In the past two years, she had been increasingly looking forward to her children staying at home.
She was getting old after all.
Wang Xiaoxia sighed inwardly.
From passionate love to the mundane daily routine, and now watching the crystallization of her love go wild.
Perhaps this was also part of love.
Not bad.
Chen Lu noticed that his mother seemed a little sad. He didn’t care about getting scolded and immediately leaned closer. “During the summer vacation, my studio will all be online, and I’ll stay home every day to give you a massage.”
Wang Xiaoxia smiled and rolled her eyes at Chen Lu, “Forget it, it’s more relaxing not seeing you. Go do whatever you want.”
Children are independent individuals, and she didn’t want to tie Chen Lu down.
“Speaking of which, what are you back for?”
“To pack my things.” Chen Lu finally told the truth. “Liang Zhirou’s father’s death anniversary, I plan to go back to her hometown with her.”
Wang Xiaoxia nodded slightly, “Is it far from here?”
Chen Lu casually pulled out two sets of clothes from the bedroom and threw them into his bag.
“It’s pretty far, I guess I’ll be back the day after tomorrow or the day after that.”
“Then go with her, I’m not at ease with her running so far alone.”
Chen Lu suddenly felt a little sour, “Why don’t you worry about me being kidnapped?”
“You? You’d be lucky if you didn’t sell the kidnappers.” Wang Xiaoxia said with a smile.
Then, as if she remembered something, she curved her lips and said to Chen Lu, “When your dad first accompanied me back to your grandpa’s grave, he suddenly knelt down and said to your grandpa, ‘I’ll take care of everything from now on.’ I was so moved that I almost cried.”
Chen Lu had never even seen a picture of his grandfather since he could remember. Wang Xiaoxia was so good to Liang Zhirou, and this was partly related to that.
“It’s touching, but it doesn’t match my dad’s persona at all.” Chen Lu smacked his lips. He really couldn’t imagine young Chen Guanglin saying that.
Just thinking about it, he could already dig out a three-bedroom apartment with his toes. He would only think about it in his heart, but he would never say it out loud.
……
The next morning.
Chen Lu arrived at Liang Zhirou’s doorstep and knocked gently.
He had only knocked twice when the door was immediately opened.
Liang Zhirou was wearing the T-shirt Chen Lu bought her, paired with a pair of jeans. She looked like she had already gotten up and washed up.
She obviously didn’t want to waste even a second of Chen Lu’s time waiting for her.
When she saw him, she nervously adjusted her bangs and quickly stepped aside to let Chen Lu in.
“Good morning, good morning.” Liang Zhirou didn’t know what to say, so she blurted out.
“Did you miss me last night?” Chen Lu asked softly.
Liang Zhirou blushed and nodded slightly. In fact, she even dreamt about Chen Lu last night…
It’s just that the dream was a little inappropriate.
Chen Lu smirked shamelessly, then stopped his shameless act of flirting with someone else’s daughter in their own home.
He walked a few steps and saw Xiao Xunfang smiling at him, even the wrinkles on her face seemed so kind.
Chen Lu felt warm inside.
“Xiao Lu, didn’t I tell you not to buy things?” Xiao Xunfang said helplessly.
Chen Lu pretended not to hear and put all the things aside, “Auntie, I didn’t buy these, my mom asked me to bring them to you.”
Xiao Xunfang was stunned, then asked hesitantly, “Did Zhirou cause any trouble when she went to your house for dinner?”
“My mom loves Zhirou,” Chen Lu said proudly, looking very pleased with himself. “I was afraid she would like Zhirou too much and impulsively adopt her as her goddaughter, then I wouldn’t have a girlfriend.”
Chen Lu’s words made Xiao Xunfang laugh, “That’s good, that’s good.”
She was really afraid that Chen Lu’s parents wouldn’t like her overly introverted daughter, or that they would oppose their relationship because of their family background.
It didn’t matter how she lived, anyway, this was all she had in this life. If she really dragged Liang Zhirou down, she might as well die.
No matter what, she hoped Liang Zhirou could live happily.
After Liang Zhirou served Chen Lu a bowl of porridge, she stood beside him, her cheeks flushed, listening to the two of them chat.
At this time, Chen Lu smiled at Liang Zhirou and said, “My mom will definitely agree to us being together, I was afraid you wouldn’t agree before.”
“Auntie will definitely agree, Auntie loves Xiao Lu so much.” Xiao Xunfang deliberately pushed her wheelchair a little, went over and patted Chen Lu’s head.
She really couldn’t believe that Liang Zhirou would be with a boy like this.
Her daughter was beautiful, but her personality and family background really held her back too much.
After a while, while Chen Lu was eating breakfast at the table.
Xiao Xunfang called Liang Zhirou to the bedroom and whispered in her ear, “Why don’t you let Xiao Lu take your mom back on the way, I’ll spend a little money to find a place to live, you don’t need to give your mom money for treatment anymore, you stay here to go to school, and in the future, you and Xiao Lu will live a good life together.”
“Mom will go back to watch over your dad, you don’t have to worry about me anymore.”
She kept stroking her daughter’s head, feeling the smooth, silky strands of hair.
Silly girl, even if other people are kind, they will still consider Mom’s situation.
Mom is so useless, she can’t give you anything, she can only lighten your burden…
Liang Zhirou took a step back immediately after hearing this, her breathing became rapid, she looked at Xiao Xunfang with a gasp, her expression was about to become very fierce.
But she was still a person who didn’t like to make a fuss.
The next second, she choked back tears of grievance.
“No…”
“I don’t want to…”
Xiao Xunfang’s eyes immediately turned red, she hugged Liang Zhirou in her arms, and continued to say the words she had said countless times: “Mom won’t say anything anymore, don’t cry, be good.”
Chen Lu finished his breakfast and didn’t see the silly girl come out for a long time, so he simply lay on the table, wanting to catch up on some sleep.
He felt that he was not suitable for getting up early in his life, otherwise he wouldn’t have skipped class because he couldn’t get up on time.
Just as he was about to close his eyes, he saw Liang Zhirou walking out slowly, her eyes red.
Xiao Xunfang’s situation was similar.
He pretended not to see, and asked softly, “Are you going?”
……
Outside.
Chen Lu glanced at the navigation and frowned.
Not only would it take four or five hours to drive, but Liang Zhirou’s hometown seemed to be in a very remote place.
This was also why he didn’t choose to take the high-speed train.
“How did you go back before?” he asked helplessly.
Liang Zhirou heard the estimated driving time reported by the navigation, and felt even more regretful for letting Chen Lu follow her. She said softly, “By bus.”
“No direct bus?”
“I have to take three buses.”
Chen Lu nodded and finished the Red Bull in his hand.
It was far, but it wouldn’t be boring to do anything with this silly girl.
“Let’s go!!”
