“Tell me,” Wang Jingyu sat across from Su Yu, looking up at him earnestly.
He wanted to know more about the Yu family so that he could be prepared when the time came to confront them.
Su Yu didn’t refuse. After all, in the future, Wang Jingyu would be dealing with those people. Giving up now wouldn’t be a good idea.
He shared everything he knew with Wang Jingyu. Wang Jingyu clenched his fists, “They targeted Xiao He just to suppress me? To prevent me from rising?”
Is it because of him that his sister had to endure so much injustice and humiliation?
“Your Grand Tutor is too prominent. They’re afraid of another Yu Qingfeng emerging. It’s normal for them to take such actions,” Su Yu raised an eyebrow and said.
Wang Jingyu didn’t speak. Just because of such a ridiculous reason, they targeted his sister when she was still pregnant?
Covering his eyes with his hand, Wang Jingyu remained silent. After a long time, he spoke, “They seem to be afraid of my father and the others?”
“How can they not be afraid? Someone who crippled the child of the Yu family’s head, wouldn’t they be afraid?” Su Yu raised an eyebrow and asked.
Wang Jingyu fell silent.
Seeing Wang Jingyu’s silence, Su Yu told him about the current situation of the Yu family. When Wang Jingyu learned that the Yu family had been facing constant trouble, he looked surprised.
“Who did this? Are they really that powerful?” Wang Jingyu asked in amazement.
Su Yu didn’t speak, just looked at Wang Jingyu with a gaze that made the latter somewhat puzzled. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Since I learned about the Yu family, I’ve been investigating. When Yu Jingchuan’s family died, there was someone who said at the time that there were no remains.” “No remains” means that no one knows if they really died or if someone rescued them.
While quietly listening on the side, Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu in astonishment. “Are you suggesting that my uncle’s family might still have survivors?”
“Very likely. I investigated those involved in the incidents with the Yu family, starting from twenty years ago. Every year during this period, a few people would die, and it coincided with the anniversary of Yu Jingchuan’s family.” Su Yu looked at the two and explained.
If it’s a coincidence that there are no remains related to the Yu family’s main line and that the deaths occurred on the anniversary of Yu Jingchuan’s family, is it really just a coincidence?
Wang Jinhe’s eyes lit up. She looked at Su Yu and asked eagerly, “Su Yu, are you saying that there must be survivors in my uncle’s family? Who do you think it could be?”
“Yu Jingchuan.”
Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu in shock. “Why do you think it’s my uncle?”
“Because the person who was said to have no remains at the time was him. Moreover, all the other deaths in Yu Jingchuan’s family were confirmed. They did indeed die.” This information came from Duan Chenxuan. That guy wouldn’t lie to him.
“Do we need to tell Grandpa and the others about this?” Wang Jingyu asked Wang Jinhe.
Wang Jinhe was conflicted, unsure whether to speak.
However, Su Yu looked towards the entrance. “Dad, come in.”
Wang Jingyu and Wang Jinhe both turned to look, surprised to see Yu Qingfeng walking in.
“Dad… You heard everything?”
Yu Qingfeng nodded, his gaze on Su Yu. “Xiaoyu, are you sure about my elder brother…”
“Dad, this is just speculation. However, the information comes from Duan Chenxuan. Right now, we’re not certain if your elder brother is still alive. But there’s a way to confirm.” Su Yu considered and then said.
“Are you suggesting doing it on the anniversary?”
“Yes, that’s the only way. If your elder brother wants to make offerings, he will undoubtedly do it at the place where his wife and children died. If I remember correctly, it’s a few days away, less than a month.” Su Yu looked at Yu Qingfeng and explained.
There was a pause in Yu Qingfeng’s hand movement, and he fell into silence for a long time. “Indeed, it’s less than a month.”
In the blink of an eye, it had been twenty-eight years since his sister-in-law and the others passed away.
“Dad, we need to find a way to confirm this matter.”
“Xiao Yu, I’m sorry to trouble you, but my father and I can’t reveal ourselves to the public right now. If it is true, find a way to bring him here,” Yu Qingfeng said with a hoarse voice.
“Okay, Dad, don’t worry. I’ve already informed Wan Gu and the others. If it’s really your elder brother, they have a way to bring him here.”
“Thank you, Xiao Yu.”
“Dad, no need to be so polite to me.” Su Yu shook his head.
They were family, and he wasn’t used to Yu Qingfeng talking to him like this; it made him uncomfortable.
“Alright.”
Because of this matter weighing on his mind, Yu Qingfeng felt somewhat absent-minded in the following days.
Seeing him nearly cutting his hand while doing something, Yu Bailin furrowed his brows. “Qingfeng, what’s wrong with you? Lately, your emotions have been unstable.”
Yu Qingfeng endured for a moment but couldn’t hold back. He told Yu Bailin about the possibility of Yu Jingchuan still being alive.
Yu Bailin and his wife stared at Su Yu, “Is it true, Xiao Yu?”
“Now it’s just speculation. We’ll only know the specific situation when the anniversary arrives,” Su Yu cautiously stated. He couldn’t be certain, as nobody could.
However, it was, at the end of the day, a glimmer of hope.
Yu Bailin chuckled self-deprecatingly, “You’re right. We can’t force this. If…”
Well, it was just another disappointment.
Yang Zhenwei looked at his grandson, disapproving of him sharing these things with Yu Bailin and the others now. If the person is alive, it’s good, but what if the person is dead? Wouldn’t that make them go through such pain again?
Su Yu naturally understood this reasoning. He only mentioned it to Wang Jingyu and his sister, not expecting his Dad to overhear.
“Although the hope is slim, what Xiao Yu said makes sense. It really could be Jingchuan’s doing,” Yu BaiLin quickly adjusted his mood. Regardless, there was still hope.
Wang Jinhe looked at Yu Bailin’s almost smiling face, feeling somewhat uneasy.
She hoped that the person alive was her uncle; otherwise, Grandpa would have to go through such pain again.
For a family, a month was an agonizing period. Previously, they didn’t feel that a month was long, but this time they found it incredibly lengthy.
On the brink of the anniversary, they felt as if each day dragged on.
Wang Jinhe stepped out of the house, breathed a sigh of relief, and rubbed her forehead. The atmosphere at home was gloomy as the anniversary approached, and it felt like the air was solidifying.
But thinking about how the family’s mood would always be low at this time in previous years, she and her elder brother didn’t know why, she went to the nearby liquor store. Seeing the already prepared strong liquor, her melancholy mood finally found some solace.
“Miss, we have quite a lot of this liquor, and there’s plenty stored in the cellar. We could sell some,” the person in charge of the liquor store reported as soon as Wang Jinhe entered.
