“Xiao Yu, what’s going on with you? If there’s something, you can tell us directly; there’s no need to hide it.” Yang Zhenwei frowned, looking at Su Yu.
When everyone thought Su Yu wouldn’t speak, he raised his head. “Grandfather, you’ll know soon. Yang Shanshan… is no longer the Shanshan she used to be.”
After saying this, he didn’t care about the expressions of the others and directly turned and left.
Seeing Su Yu like this, Su Xi and Yang Zhenwei exchanged glances, both filled with puzzlement. “Su old man, it seems like Xiao Yu is not the same as he used to be?”
Su Xi nodded. He had also sensed the changes in Su Yu over the past few years. Initially, he thought it was because of Yang Shanshan and others, but now it seemed that was not the case.
However, Su Yu didn’t want to talk about things he didn’t want to say.
“This child, Xiao Yu, won’t speak about things he doesn’t want to talk about, no matter how we ask,” Su Xi said, understanding his grandson to some extent.
Since three years ago, it had become impossible to extract any information from Su Yu unless he willingly shared it.
“Old Yang, I think what Xiao Yu said may not be false. Be careful on your side to prevent Yang Shanshan from really doing something.” Su Xi expressed his concern.
The current Yang Shanshan was indeed problematic, especially considering what Su Yu had said, which left Su Xi feeling uneasy.
Yang Zhenwei looked at Su Xi with a slightly furrowed brow and a somewhat unpleasant expression. “I know.”
After Su Yu returned, he didn’t go to find Wang Jinhe. Instead, he wandered in the vegetable field outside, lost in thought.
Su Xuan Xuan walked up to Su Yu, her brow slightly furrowed. “Xiao Yu, what are you thinking?”
She continued. “Xiao Yu, are you hiding something from us?”
Su Yu chuckled softly. “No, don’t overthink it. Just live your own life well. As for other things, I will handle them.”
Su Xuan Xuan’s brow tightened, and she looked at Su Yu with a very angry expression. “Xiao Yu, do you really know what you’re talking about?”
“Even if I tell you, what can you do? You can’t do anything.” He knew that even though Su Xuan Xuan and the others might hate Yang Shanshan, deep down, they still held some hope.
Such thoughts were dangerous when facing Yang Shanshan.
“Xiao Yu, I’m your sister. You can tell me anything, and I can help you accomplish it. How can you be sure we can’t do anything if you don’t tell us? If so many of us can’t do anything, tell me, what can you do alone?” Su Xuan xuan was very dissatisfied with Su Yu putting everything on himself.
Su Yu didn’t say anything, but Su Xuan xuan was correct in one aspect – this matter indeed could only be handled by him alone, and others wouldn’t be able to accomplish it.
“Don’t ask about this matter anymore. Even if you ask a hundred times, I won’t tell you. Why bother? Am I right?” Su Yu said and turned away, not giving Su Xuan xuan a chance to speak.
Watching Su Yu leave, Su Xuan xuan felt that he was hiding a lot in his heart.
Unable to learn what he was hiding from Su Yu, later, Su Xuan xuan went to find Wang Jinhe. When she arrived, she saw Su Yu holding Wang Jinhe, looking somewhat low-spirited.
Sighing softly, Su Xuan Xuan turned and left. Wang Jinhe glanced in the direction Su Xuan had departed, furrowing her brow. “She’s already gone.”
Su Yu held Wang Jinhe without saying anything, but Wang Jinhe could sense his restlessness.
“What’s wrong with you?”
Su Yu remained silent, and seeing him like this, Wang Jinhe felt a bit helpless, allowing Su Yu to hold her.
When Su Yu let go, Wang Jinhe looked at him. “What happened to you today?”
Su Yu’s mood today didn’t seem to be very good. Was it because of Yang Shanshan?
“Be careful in your actions from now on, Xiao He. That woman, Yang Shanshan…” Su Yu didn’t know how to describe that woman with words. Some things he couldn’t say at the moment.
It was indeed because of Yang Shanshan.
Reaching out, Wang Jinhe patted Su Yu’s shoulder and said earnestly, “Don’t worry about me. Just focus on your own matters. Because of our engagement, she will be a bit cautious. She won’t dare to do anything drastic.”
Su Yu helplessly looked at Wang Jinhe. He still didn’t know how ruthless Yang Shanshan could be.
“Yang Shanshan is very stubborn. She used to be good to us, but ever since my brother and sister grew up, she changed,” Su Yu’s gaze became distant, then he smiled bitterly, shaking his head. He no longer had much concern for Yang Shanshan.
Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu in surprise. “Your brother and sister didn’t listen to her?”
“Why do you ask that?”
“You mentioned that when you were young, she was especially good to you, but she changed as you all grew up, right?” Wang Jinhe might have an idea of why Yang Shanshan had turned into what she was.
“Yes, my brother became a military officer and fell in love with a girl from an ordinary family. My sister went to the battlefield and practiced martial arts with Grandfather. She vehemently opposed all of these,” Su Yu explained. From Su Yu’s perspective, these things weren’t bad at all, but Yang Shanshan seemed to be completely unable to understand.
Wang Jinhe nodded understandingly. “Now I understand what you’re saying.”
“Understand what?” Did he say something? Wang Jinhe seemed to have understood something.
“Your mother treats you all as her possessions. Once you escape her control, once you have your own ideas, she will take action against you. Her desire for control over you is too strong.”
Yang Shanshan essentially treated them, the three siblings, as puppets, leaving them with no room for resistance. However, when she didn’t know, all three resisted her existence.
They even broke free from the strings Yang Shanshan held, and it was precisely because they broke free that Yang Shanshan was angered, leading her to do unforgivable things to them.
Whether it was Rou Rou, the unborn child of Su Xuan, or Su Yu’s own life, they were all warnings from Yang Shanshan to the three siblings.
Unfortunately, none of them had figured out the true purpose behind Yang Shanshan’s actions.
“Tendencies for control?”
“Yes, she treats you all as puppets in her hands. Once you break free from her control, she will take action against you. As for the harm she inflicts on you, it’s just a warning to you all,” Wang Jinhe explained to Su Yu.
Listening to Wang Jinhe’s words, Su Yu thought about what Yang Shanshan said when she attacked them.
She said not to do things that shouldn’t be done.
She also said not to attempt to do things that would displease her.
…
Yang Shanshan had said a lot at that time, and he remembered all of it, but he hadn’t thought about it in this direction.
“Perhaps what you’re saying is right. She isn’t our mother; she just treats us as tools in her hands.” If that’s the case, then Su Yu seemed to understand Yang Shanshan’s motives for what she did afterward.
