“Wait.” Su Yu, who had been silent all along, looked at those women.
Everyone looked at Su Yu with confusion, wondering what he was up to. Su Xi, in particular, spoke directly, “Xiao Yu, you can’t do anything that would betray Xiao He. If you dare to do so, I’ll break your legs, you’ll see.”
“Grandpa, what are you thinking?” Su Yu knew from Su Xi’s words that he had misunderstood.
“Then why are you making people wait?” Su Xi asked, not believing at all.
“Do any of you go by the name Shi Xuan?” Su Yu looked at them and asked.
A girl with a cold temperament walked out, “I am Shi Xuan.”
Su Yu looked at Shi Xuan and chuckled softly, just as he expected.
Isn’t she supposed to be crazy? Well, she doesn’t mind if Yang Shanshan goes a little crazier.
“Grandpa, let Shi Xuan become Su Qin’s concubine, a noble one.” Su Yu suddenly spoke amidst everyone’s confusion.
Su Xi looked at Su Yu in astonishment, “Did you just say to let your dad take a concubine, a noble one?”
Does this kid know what he’s thinking? Does he know how Yang Shanshan would react if this really happened?
Su Yu calmly spoke, “I know.”
This is just a matter of time. Even if Su Qin and Shi Xuan miss each other now, they will meet in the not-too-distant future.
A Noble concubine is not someone Yang Shanshan can casually harm. Doesn’t Yang Shanshan want to make things difficult for her? Well, let’s see who makes things difficult for whom.
“You know, and yet you say it like this?” Su Xi wondered if this brat had any idea how good his relationship with Yang Shanshan was. If he really did this, Yang Shanshan would hate him to death.
“Grandpa, this is just a matter of time. You can rest assured and do what you need to do.” Su Yu said seriously. The way he spoke made Su Xi subconsciously feel that everything Su Yu said was genuine.
Shi Xuan furrowed her brows slightly, feeling a bit desolate. She thought that life would be a little better after leaving the brothel, but she didn’t expect to become someone else’s concubine.
Although she would be a Noble concubine, she was unwilling…
Apart from Shi Xuan, the others felt bitterness in their hearts, uncertain about what to do in the days to come.
Wang Jinhe looked at these women, feeling a bit irritated as she grabbed his hair, “What did you all do when you were in the brothel?”
“We were all performers, not selling ourselves.” One of the girls hesitated for a moment before speaking.
They were beautiful and talented, once the darlings of their families. Now, in this situation, what could they do?
Wang Jinhe nodded as she heard their explanations, “Then all of you stay. Qiuyi, take them to the place to stay, and inform them of their daily tasks.”
“Yes, Miss.”
Su Xi disapproved and looked at Wang Jinhe, saying, “Xiao He, you shouldn’t have let them stay. What if someone among them has ulterior motives?”
“Grandpa, I trust Su Yu, and they really seem to just want to find a place to live peacefully.” Wang Jinhe looked at Su Xi earnestly.
These girls might not have had a good upbringing, and they may have stayed in such places, but it wasn’t necessarily their choice.
They worked hard to keep themselves clean in such an environment, a determination that commanded respect.
Although Wang Jinhe didn’t know what kind of place a brothel was, she understood that a demand like performing without selling oneself required a price even from the workers themselves. She wasn’t a saint, just someone who always wanted to help when she could.
Su Xi, knowing Wang Jinhe’s kindness, looked at her with a helpless expression as she spoke.
“If things don’t turn out the way you expect in the future, I think you’ll regret it,” Su Xi said without much patience.
Yang Zhenwei, on the other hand, thought highly of Wang Jinhe’s judgment. These people carried a sense of gratitude and didn’t show any special emotions when looking at Su Yu, perhaps even appearing too indifferent.
Shi Xuan bit her lip and looked at Su Yu, “Why should I become a concubine for your father?”
“Because it’s your destiny, and you can’t escape it,” Su Yu said calmly, looking at Shi Xuan.
Destiny?
Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu, “She…”
Su Yu reached out, ruffled Wang Jinhe’s hair, and pulled her into an embrace, softly saying, “Xiao He, don’t speak up for her. Even if she misses Su Qin now, someday she will meet him and become Su Qin’s concubine.”
Instead of being a lowly concubine who can be mistreated at any time, it’s better to give her the status of a noble concubine now, so she can live better and further upset Yang Shanshan.
Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu in disbelief, sizing him up, “Are you sure you’re not up to something?”
Su Yu smiled but didn’t speak. Of course, he had some schemes. Since Yang Shanshan didn’t want him to marry happily, he wouldn’t let her have it easy either. They would see who could make the other unhappy.
Shi Xuan was the only one who could contend with Yang Shanshan. Once inferior due to her status, now Su Yu would give her a position that would prevent Yang Shanshan from taking action.
“If Shi Xuan wants to survive, she needs to occupy a more important place in Su Qin’s heart. I’ve given you the talisman for protection; what will happen in the future depends on your abilities,” Su Yu said.
Shi Xuan’s hands under her sleeve clenched instinctively. She looked at Su Yu, not understanding why he called it destiny.
“I understand.” Although Shi Xuan didn’t grasp Su Yu’s meaning, she nodded after some consideration.
Su Xi gave Su Yu a glare and said with a hint of annoyance, “You’re quite bold, daring to arrange a concubine for your father.”
Su Yu dodged aside, stood behind Wang Jinhe, raised an eyebrow, and looked at Su Xi, “Grandpa, I’m just using their own methods against them. She doesn’t want me to have a good life, and I won’t let her be comfortable either.”
