Secretly Like You for Many Years Chapter 4

Chapter 4: Yoyo is All Grown Up

Jiang You, afraid of being devoured like a wolf attacking its prey, hurriedly urged, “You should go back now, it’s almost 11 o’clock.”

Fu Jin looked at her, “Are you sure you want to stay home alone?”

“Yeah, it’s fine.”

“How long will your mom be away on her business trip?”

“About ten days or so.”

Half an hour later, Jiang You was once again in the black private car, carrying a huge pink backpack with her change of clothes inside.

The car headed toward the Fu family’s old mansion.

Before she left, Jiang You had asked her mother. Although her mother felt it was not quite appropriate, she was still worried about Jiang You being home alone and repeatedly thanked Fu Jin, saying it was a hassle.

Jiang You sat in the passenger seat, feeling uneasy, both happy and worried.

The happiness came from being able to spend more than ten days with Fu Jin, but the worry was about…

“Uncle Fu, will it be rude if I suddenly show up at your house?”

Fu Jin replied, “You’ve been there before.”

“But that was when I was little!” Jiang You said.

Fu Jin raised an eyebrow, “What? Now that you’re grown up, you’re starting to care about your image?”

“Of course!” Jiang You pouted, looking like a cute little goldfish.

Perhaps… those could be her future in-laws. Though it was a thought far ahead, it still made sense to care about her image!

Men just don’t understand the delicate thoughts of girls!

Jiang You leaned back in the seat, troubled. Maybe it was fatigue, or maybe it was just irritation, but as she looked out the window at the passing night scenery, she gradually fell asleep.

Fu Jin could hear the steady breathing from beside him. Occasionally, he caught a faint trace of the girl’s fragrance. His heart felt calm and satisfied.

He wished he could just keep driving like this forever.

The Fu family’s old mansion was located in the suburbs, in Qixia Villa, one of the top ten luxury estates in the country.

Qixia Villa was somewhat far from the city, and by the time they arrived, it was almost midnight.

The car entered the main gate, drove for a few minutes, and stopped at the entrance of Guihai Garden.

Guihai Garden was the largest courtyard in the villa. In addition to the Guihai Building, where Fu Jin’s family lived, there were smaller courtyards for guests.

Jiang You was woken up by Fu Jin. The sleepy girl stumbled out of the car, following the tall man behind him.

“This is Miss Jiang, right?” A gentle female voice reached Jiang You’s ears. She opened her eyes with difficulty and saw a familiar face she hadn’t seen in a long time — Aunt Zhang, the housekeeper.

Jiang You bowed with a sweet smile, “Hello, Aunt Zhang! I’m sorry to trouble you these few days!”

Before Fu Jin went abroad, Jiang You often came to play with Wen Nian. After Fu Jin left, Wen Nian went to a boarding school, so Jiang You hadn’t visited for a while. She never expected that after four years, Aunt Zhang still remembered her.

Aunt Zhang smiled, “It’s no trouble at all. If the master and mistress knew you were here, they would be so happy.”

With that, Aunt Zhang reached for the backpack in Fu Jin’s hands, but he gestured for her not to. Instead, he asked, “Are the master and mistress asleep?”

“They went to bed at 10.”

“Is the room ready?”

As they entered Guihai Garden, the first sight was a traditional Chinese courtyard.

“I prepared the room as soon as I got your message. It’s ready. It’s Yunju Pavilion,” Aunt Zhang said.

Fu Jin nodded, “You can go rest now. Get some sleep.”

“Alright. Let me know if you need anything.”

With that, Aunt Zhang disappeared behind the winding corridor.

Jiang You followed Fu Jin’s steps closely, not daring to hesitate. Qixia Villa was just too large, and she was worried she might get lost.

The moon hung low over the willow trees, and the soft light sparkled on the water, the surroundings decorated with jade and sculpted beams.

They ascended more steps, passed through a gate, and walked left into an archway, then onto a covered corridor.

The corridor had cloudstone chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, and the light filtered through the begonia-patterned windows, casting diamond-shaped shadows that moved in rhythm with their footsteps.

Fu Jin stopped in front of the Yunju Pavilion’s door. Jiang You was too tired to keep her eyes open and didn’t expect the man in front to suddenly stop, causing her to bump into his broad back.

“Ouch—” Jiang You let out a soft cry, her body falling back, and Fu Jin quickly turned around, catching her just in time. She fell into his warm embrace.

“Uncle Fu, why are you so stiff?” Jiang You rubbed her chin, wincing in pain, tears starting to well up in her eyes.

Fu Jin’s gaze darkened as he hid in the night shadows. He reached out to check her chin, which was slightly red.

He let out a barely audible sigh, bent down, wrapped his left arm around her shoulder, and with his right arm under her knees, he lifted her horizontally.

Jiang You instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.

Fu Jin walked into the courtyard, entered the room, and pressed a code on the lock before stepping into the bedroom.

He placed Jiang You on the bed, but she seemed to have developed a habit of holding on, unwilling to let go.

“Jiang You, let go,” Fu Jin said, his tone carrying a trace of command.

Jiang You shrank her shoulders as if startled, whining softly.

“Why is Uncle Fu so strict?” she said, her delicate face scrunched up as if deeply wronged.

Fu Jin’s voice softened, and he gently coaxed, “Yoyo, let go. If others see you holding onto Uncle Fu like this, what will they think?”

His deep, husky voice echoed in her ears. For some reason, Jiang You felt his body above hers stiffen, his breath hot against her skin, burning through her, and straight to her heart.

She softly murmured, “Uncle Fu, I’m scared alone. Can I sleep with you tonight?”

“No!” Fu Jin immediately refused.

“Why?” She looked like she was about to cry. “We used to sleep together when I was little!”

Fu Jin’s face darkened.

At that time, Jiang You was only three years old. She and Wen Nian had come to the old house to play, and when a heavy rain started in the middle of the night, the two girls were terrified and cried non-stop. Fu Jin had carried them both to sleep through the night.

“Yoyo is all grown up now.” His voice softened even more.

The strong, masculine scent of his breath brushed against her ear, sending a tingling sensation down her spine. Her skin prickled with goosebumps, and waves of warmth spread from her heels.

Gradually, Fu Jin’s body became even more rigid, like a mountain, an immovable mountain.

When she opened her eyes, she didn’t know when, but Fu Jin’s eyes had darkened, with two fiery sparks hidden in the depths.

Her scalp tingled.

Strange, dangerous, scary.

She had never seen this side of Fu Jin before.

“Uncle Fu is really tired today and wants to rest early,” Fu Jin’s voice sounded tired, his words grainy from exhaustion.

Jiang You immediately released him, her face filled with guilt and nervousness.

She had known that Fu Jin was busy and had little sleep, often working through the night. Yet, she had clung to him and almost made him regret it.

She felt so sorry for Fu Jin.

“I’m sorry, it’s my fault. Uncle Fu, go rest now, have a good sleep.”

Fu Jin quickly got up as if pardoned, hurriedly covering her with the blanket and escaping in haste.

Jiang You felt a pang of disappointment. He left so quickly…

Hmph! How rude!

Yunju Pavilion was a separate courtyard with a two-bedroom house. The house had all the usual amenities, along with a delicate little garden.

The decor was warm and cozy, with wooden furniture and light-colored curtains, much like her own home.

Jiang You once thought Qixia Villa was a modern version of the Grand View Garden.

She had always come here for meals and fun, but staying for more than ten days was a first.

Now, she felt like Lin Daiyu, and maybe tomorrow, she’d pick up a hoe and bury some flowers. Who knows, Fu Jin might even secretly fall for her without realizing it.

Luckily, there were no Qingwen or Xiren around Fu Jin.

Jiang You set an alarm for the second half of the morning and then set one for every following hour.

The reason was simple: she wanted to make breakfast for Fu Jin’s parents.

First, it was a matter of courtesy since it was her first time staying in someone else’s home.

Secondly, Fu Jin’s parents were in their sixties, and people of that age often went to bed early and woke up early, placing great importance on breakfast.

Winning over Fu Jin was one thing; winning over his family was another.

She couldn’t afford to leave out either!

With that thought, Jiang You smiled with satisfaction and fell asleep.
