Chapter 43 : It seems that there is a ruthless person in the Sun family!

After dinner, Xiao Yuyan prepared to send Ye Suiwan back home.  

She was getting married the day after tomorrow, so Ye Suiwan also needed to tidy up her dormitory and pack up in advance.  

“Have a good rest tomorrow. I’ll visit you in the evening,” Xiao Yuyan advised as they walked side by side.  

“I know, I won’t be running around.”  

“Why? Are you worried that I’ll run away?”  

Ye Suiwan teased him deliberately.  

“We’ve already gotten the certificate.”  

Xiao Yuyan emphasized seriously again.  

However, in rural areas, the awareness of a marriage certificate was still weak. People believed that only after holding a wedding banquet were a couple truly married. That was why Ye Suiwan had not moved into the Xiao family home right after getting the marriage certificate.  

Seeing how serious he was, Ye Suiwan burst into laughter.  

“Xiao Yuyan, you can only belong to me, Ye Suiwan, for the rest of your life, okay?”  

Ye Suiwan suddenly took a quick step forward, standing in front of Xiao Yuyan and staring at him intently.  

Xiao Yuyan’s heart seemed to skip a beat, and he froze in place.  

He really liked Ye Suiwan’s possessiveness toward him.  

“Yes, I am yours, only yours.”  

Xiao Yuyan nearly saluted as he made his promise.  

Satisfied with his answer, Ye Suiwan glanced around. Fortunately, there was no one else on the road.  

Just as they were about to continue walking, someone suddenly rushed out.  

When Ye Suiwan saw Sun Yan charging toward them angrily, only one thought crossed her mind: ‘This woman must be sick.’  

Instead of attacking her directly, he spread his arms wide, blocking the space between her and Xiao Yuyan. What was that supposed to mean?  

His bloodshot eyes were filled with an undisguised, venomous glare, as if he wanted to tear her apart and drink her blood. He looked completely deranged.  

Xiao Yuyan immediately stepped in front of Ye Suiwan, shielding her behind him.  

This action only further provoked the person before them.  

“You vixen! You little bitch! How did you seduce Brother Yuyan? What right do you have to marry him? Go to hell! Get out of the Xiangyang Brigade! Get lost!”  

As she shouted, she lunged forward.  

Ye Suiwan braced herself against Xiao Yuyan and kicked her directly.  

If her arms had been long enough, she would have slapped her several times just for the insults she had thrown at her.  

Right now, she had no tools at hand to hit someone, and slapping would hurt her hands but kicking was much better.  

Even though she held back, Sun Yan still went flying, landing hard on her knees with a mouthful of dirt.  

“You…you dare to kick me?”  

Sun Yan was so furious that she no longer felt the pain.  

“Why should I stand here and let you insult and hit me?”  

Ye Suiwan’s entire demeanor turned ice-cold. Did she look like someone easy to bully?  

Another reason she kicked first was to prevent Xiao Yuyan from taking action. The moment Sun Yan lunged at them, she had seen the man clenching his fists, ready to throw a punch.  

Thankfully, she had acted in time and kicked him away.  

If it had been an ordinary man, it wouldn’t have mattered, but Xiao Yuyan was a soldier, he shouldn’t hit women if he could avoid it.  

It didn’t matter if women fought among themselves. Ye Suiwan was the type who would rather throw punches than waste words, though she had always fought boys in the past.  

“Big Brother! Second Brother! Hurry and beat that little bitch up for me! She…she kicked me!”  

Hearing footsteps approaching, Sun Yan spotted her brothers and immediately turned arrogant.  

When Sun Wen and Sun Wu saw their sister lying on the ground, they ignored everything else and rushed at Ye Suiwan.

Very good, the three siblings were now lying on the ground in a neat row.  

Of course, these two kicks came from Xiao Yuyan. Ye Suiwan had no objections in fact, she thought he had kicked them quite well.

Sun Wu, not known for his brains, blurted out the accusation.  

Hearing this, Ye Suiwan turned to look at Sun Yan.  

There was no need to guess, these two brainless brothers had clearly been deceived by their dear sister.  

But what did that have to do with her? The beating the three of them received today was well deserved.  

“I wonder what you three siblings are thinking. You, the daughter of the Sun family, aren’t even married yet, but you already swear like a fishmonger. Who would dare to marry you?”  

Aunt Hongxia appeared with a group of village women.  

Walking in front were her sister-in-law, Aunt Zaohua, and the woman who had spoken to Ye Suiwan at the village entrance yesterday.  

“I—I didn’t! They were the ones who attacked us! Are you all blind?!”  

Sun Yan blurted out.  

With that single word “blind” she offended everyone present.  

“You little girl, you really are…”  

The women shook their heads, some even wanting to slap her mouth shut, but Aunt Hongxia stopped them.  

Because she had noticed Secretary Sun and Wang Cui approaching, they must have heard Sun Yan’s outburst.  

Sun He was a man who cared deeply about his reputation.  

There was no need for anyone else to act, his daughter would soon face the consequences herself.

Sure enough, Sun He rushed out of the crowd and walked straight toward the three siblings. He kicked Sun Wen and Sun Wu each and then slapped Sun Yan.  

“Is this what your mother taught you? How dare you speak like that about these aunts and sisters? Apologize right now!”  

Sun He was furious, nearly to the point of collapse. He wasn’t even sure if he could continue as the brigade secretary after this.  

“Dad, you hit me! It was obviously that little bitch Ye Suiwan who kicked me!”  

“Mom, you’re here just in time! Come help me beat her up!”  

“Shut up!”  

Wang Cui, who had always considered herself quite clever, couldn’t believe she had given birth to such a foolish daughter.  

Not only had she failed to capture Xiao Yuyan, but she had also dragged her two brothers into this mess. Now, she had been slapped by Sun He in front of everyone, and no matter how she tried to salvage the situation, it was already too late.  

After returning home, she had asked her sister-in-law about the details of Xiao Yuyan’s marriage and later informed Sun He.  

Sun He had long since realized that his daughter had no chance. Not only was Xiao Yuyan already set on marrying Ye Suiwan, but others might not know about Ye Suiwan’s background, he and Jiang Aijun, however, did.  

Still, he hadn’t expected Sun Yan to be so fixated on marrying Xiao Yuyan. She even went so far as to say that if they didn’t let her marry him, she would go to him herself.  

Sun He didn’t care whether she threw herself at him or not. If it worked, great. But it was obviously impossible, and it would only bring trouble upon him.  

So, that afternoon, he had discussed the matter with Li Cui and arranged for Sun Yan to be married off to another brigade in a different commune. The groom was the youngest son of that brigade’s leader, and they had even offered a betrothal gift of 100 yuan! In a rural village like theirs, that was a significant amount.  

Li Cui had still been dreaming of becoming the mother-in-law of an official and naturally opposed the arrangement. But she knew that once Sun He made up his mind, her objections were useless.  

She could only try to persuade her daughter. Who would have thought that after talking for an entire afternoon, the damn girl would finally agree?  

Thinking that everything was settled, they hadn’t locked her up after dinner. But in the blink of an eye, she had run out and caused trouble.  

Now, seeing the fury on her husband’s face, she knew that if they didn’t handle this properly, both she and her daughter would be in serious trouble when they got home.  

She first helped her two sons up, then pulled Sun Yan to her feet.  

Afterward, she forced a smile and spoke apologetically to the onlookers.  

“Yan zi has been running a fever and is confused today. Her father and I have already arranged a marriage for her, and she’ll be leaving tomorrow. Aunts, please don’t hold a grudge against a child.”  

Li Cui nearly gritted her teeth as she spoke.  

As the brigade secretary’s wife, the people of Xiangyang Brigade had always shown her some respect. But now, she had been forced to lower herself and offer apologies to these village women.  

Her words stunned everyone.  

Even Ye Suiwan looked surprised.  

‘It seems there is a ruthless person in the Sun family!’  

And it was obvious who that ruthless person was, Sun He.  

‘I’ll have to be on guard against him in the future.’  

The crowd began whispering amongst themselves.  

Aunt Hongxia was the quickest to react. She smiled and said,  

“Sister Li, congratulations! The groom must be a fine young man.”  

“We’ve watched Yan zi grow up. We know she didn’t mean any real harm. The girl has suffered enough today. You should take her home and put some medicine on her bruises, or it’ll be hard to explain to her in-laws tomorrow.”  

Li Cui understood the hidden message in Aunt Hongxia’s words.  

But one thing was true, the groom was indeed a good match.  

“Yes, my in-laws are the team leaders. They gave us 100 yuan and a bicycle as a betrothal gift.”  

Li Cui finally regained some of her usual haughty demeanor.  

“Yuyan, Yan zi was ignorant and acted impulsively. Don’t hold it against her. I’ll take her home now.”  

Seeing that his wife had smoothed things over, Sun He was eager to leave as well. He turned to Xiao Yuyan and said,  

“Uncle Sun, ask her to apologize to my wife before leaving.”  

Sun He’s face instantly darkened. He turned to look at Xiao Yuyan, nearly coughing up blood from anger.  

It wasn’t that he hadn’t seen his children get beaten up, it was that he had chosen to ignore it to keep the matter from escalating further. But he hadn’t expected Xiao Yuyan to demand an apology from his daughter!  

Ye Suiwan didn’t miss the flash of malice in Sun He’s eyes.  

‘This man is holding a grudge against the Xiao family.’  

‘It seems his days as brigade secretary are numbered.’  

Ye Suiwan made a mental note, she would have to think of a way to deal with him.  

Sun He quickly adjusted his expression and forced a smile.  

“Fine.”  

He turned to Sun Yan and ordered in an unquestionable tone,  

“Apologize to your sister-in-law.”  

“Father!”  

“Apologize!”  

Li Cui quickly pulled at Sun Yan’s sleeve.  

“…Sorry!”  

Sun Yan’s eyes burned with resentment as she gritted her teeth and spat out the words.  

“Well, for the secretary’s sake, I won’t pursue this further. I hope there won’t be a next time,” Ye Suiwan said calmly.  

“What are you still standing around for? Let’s go home!”  

Sun He had never felt so humiliated in his life.  

After saying this, the Sun family finally left.
