Chapter 57 : She will give him some medicine.

Apart from meeting Zhou Hui, nothing else happened on the train. Two young men boarded the same carriage at the provincial capital station. They fell asleep as soon as they got on and remained as unnoticeable as air throughout the entire journey, which made Ye Suiwan very satisfied.  

Finally, on the morning of the third day, the train arrived at Jingshi Station.  

“Wanwan, we’ll be getting off soon. Hold on to your luggage and don’t get lost,” Xiao Yuyan reminded her again.  

“I know. I’m very familiar with this place. I won’t get lost,” Ye Suiwan responded with a smile.  

“Well, I’m afraid of losing you,” Xiao Yuyan leaned in and whispered.  

“Then let me show you the way. Have you been to Jing City before?” Ye Suiwan asked casually.  

“I’ve been here a few times on missions, but I always came and left in a hurry,” Xiao Yuyan replied truthfully.  

“Then let’s take a day or two to go sightseeing,” she suggested.  

“Okay, I’ll listen to you. This is the final stop, so let’s wait for the crowd to clear before getting off,” Xiao Yuyan said as he peeked outside.  

“Alright.”  

“After we get off the train, we’ll put our luggage in the house my mom left for me. It’s close to the station. Then we’ll have breakfast and buy gifts. We’ll also have lunch outside, and then we’ll go home for a nap. We just need to reach the compound before Dad gets off work in the afternoon. Although Dad knows we’re coming, he doesn’t know the exact time. Let’s give him a surprise! I’ve already told Zhou Hui not to reveal anything about me,” Ye Suiwan explained her plan.  

“Alright,” Xiao Yuyan agreed, though he still felt a bit nervous.  

As most of the passengers had already disembarked, Xiao Yuyan picked up the luggage and got off the train with Ye Suiwan.  

The station was crowded with people, and Ye Suiwan took a deep breath.  

After a lifetime, she was once again stepping onto this land, and her heart was filled with indescribable emotions.  

However, the person beside her gave her enough security, making her feel much more at ease.  

“Let’s go!”  

A smile appeared on Ye Suiwan’s face.  

After leaving the station, the two took a bus and quickly arrived at Ye Suiwan’s private residence.  

This place was located in the city center. Although she rarely visited, her mother had arranged for people to maintain and clean it regularly, so it was always ready for someone to move in.  

“We’re here, come in!”  

Ye Suiwan opened a worn-out door and stepped inside, revealing an elegant and peaceful retreat an entirely different world from the outside.  

“This small courtyard my mother left behind is the most inconspicuous,” she explained.  

“It’s perfect,” Xiao Yuyan immediately understood his mother-in-law’s foresight.  

“Come on, put your luggage in the living room, and let’s go eat. There’s a state-owned restaurant nearby,” Ye Suiwan said cheerfully.  

At that moment, all she could think about were steaming buns, freshly fried sugar-coated pancakes, wontons, tofu pudding, or soy milk.  

She suddenly felt incredibly hungry!  

After locking the door, Ye Suiwan took Xiao Yuyan out.  

They walked through an alley until they reached the main road.  

From a distance, a long queue was visible.  

“Look, that’s the place,” Ye Suiwan said, pointing at it.  

Now, the two of them walked side by side but maintained a respectful two-fist distance between them. Even though they were husband and wife, they still had to follow social norms.  

“I’ll get in line, and you go find a seat,” Xiao Yuyan assigned their tasks.  

“Okay. I want some vegetarian buns, sugar-coated pancakes, soy milk, a bowl of wontons, two fried dough sticks, and some fried dough rings,” she listed.  

“Oh, is that too much?” she suddenly realized.  

“It’s not too much, I’ll finish whatever’s left,” Xiao Yuyan reassured her warmly.  

He knew that his wife liked to try different foods but wouldn’t eat too much of any single dish. Of course, he was happy to indulge her.  

“Ayan, you’re the best! I’ll go find a seat, then.”  

“I have all the money and ration tickets. I’ll leave them with you while we’re in Beijing,” she said, stuffing her cloth bag wallet into his hand.  

Xiao Yuyan wanted to refuse, but when he met Ye Suiwan’s gaze, he simply nodded.  

Satisfied, Ye Suiwan entered the restaurant.  

Even though there was a long line outside, there were still a few empty tables inside. Most customers were buying food to take home rather than eating on-site.  

She sat quietly and started planning her next steps.  

When she saw her father, she would confess everything to him. That woman, Liu Suxia, had to be dealt with this time.  

Tomorrow, she would also meet the person introduced to her by Jiang Sui. There should be some updates.  

She had already informed Jiang Sui of her arrival in Beijing, and their meeting was set for the following day.  

She didn’t intend to hide these matters from Xiao Yuyan.  

However, when the time came to take action, she would give him some medicine to make him sleep, and then she would handle everything herself.  

“Let’s eat while it’s hot!”  

Xiao Yuyan’s voice pulled Ye Suiwan back to reality. In front of her was the breakfast she had specifically requested.  

“Wow, it smells amazing!”  

“Ayan, you should eat too. I feel like I haven’t eaten in ages!”  

She first took a bite of the sugar-coated pancake, then sipped a spoonful of soy milk. The rich flavor made her eyes squint in blissful satisfaction.  

“Take whatever you want. I’ll eat whatever’s left,” Xiao Yuyan said affectionately.  

“That’s exactly what I was thinking,” Ye Suiwan replied without hesitation.  

The two of them sat together, eating and chatting, and in the end, they finished everything without leaving a single bite behind.  

“I’m stuffed!”  

Ye Suiwan patted her belly with a smile.  

“Shall we go to the department store?” Xiao Yuyan asked.  

Beijing’s department stores had the widest variety of goods in the country.  

After eating, they took a bus for just one stop to reach their destination.  

In the past, Ye Suiwan had been a frequent shopper here, always returning with bags full of items.  

Back then, she had come with Sun Qianqian. But now, she was here with her husband, and the feeling was completely different.  

“Come on, I’ll show you around!”  

Ye Suiwan waved her hand and walked ahead, with Xiao Yuyan following closely behind.  

She actually wanted to buy a lot of things for Xiao Yuyan, but today’s priority was getting gifts for her father and brothers.  

As for gifts for themselves and the Xiao family, they could wait until the day before they left.  

With Ye Suiwan leading the way, the two of them quickly finished their shopping.  

In addition to the cigarettes, alcohol, and tea she had originally planned to buy, she also picked out clothes and shoes for her family.  

She bought cakes and candies, too some for herself, but also to share with the little followers in the compound.

“Exactly! Alright, let’s head home now!”  

Ye Suiwan was relieved that she hadn’t run into any acquaintances while eating or shopping.
