Chapter 3
Unsurprisingly,
Zhu Suisui followed her heart’s desire.
In the crowd, filled with youthful yearning, she pointed to Lu Lanxu.
When Zhu Suisui reached the legal age to marry, Lu Lanxu took a leave of absence and came back. They went to get their marriage certificate and held a wedding ceremony.
Just like that, she became Mrs. Lu.
1979 was the busiest time for the army. Lu Lanxu stayed at home for three days before leaving, without taking her with him.
Zhu Suisui was very happy with Lu Lanxu. She actually wanted to follow him to the army, but Lu Lanxu didn’t mention it, so she didn’t dare to speak up, afraid of upsetting her husband.
She was alone in the unfamiliar capital city, and her heart ached.
This place was very different from the countryside. To be honest, Zhu Suisui was not used to the people or the things here. Moreover, the Lu family was a big family with many rules. She lived with her in-laws, and her small-town background often led to embarrassing situations.
Zhu Suisui could only tell herself to learn more, work harder, not embarrass the Lu family, and most importantly, not embarrass Lu Lanxu.
She knew, her husband was very outstanding. At a young age, he had already taken on an important position in the army, with a promising future.
If it weren’t for the favor her grandfather had done, with her background and status, she would never have been worthy of someone as brilliant as Lu Lanxu in this lifetime.
The huge difference in their status, coupled with her husband’s constant absence, the malicious treatment from those around her, and even the Lu family’s dislike of her, made Zhu Suisui start to become anxious and insecure.
She desperately wanted to live up to the position of Mrs. Lu, wanting to take care of Lu Lanxu’s family, never bringing shame to the Lu family in the capital city. Even when people laughed at her and mocked her, she would only grit her teeth and swallow her grievances.
This went on for twenty years.
Lu Lanxu rose through the ranks, becoming the youngest head of the army, and soon took over the Lu family, becoming the head of the family.
Even in the capital city, it was hard to find another person as brilliant as him.
It was just a pity, as his wife, she had not given Lu Lanxu a son or a daughter.
Zhu Suisui tried everything. At first, she discussed it with Lu Lanxu, but her husband always brushed her off, saying that now wasn’t the best time. Later, she secretly punctured the condom, but she still didn’t get pregnant.
After that, she started looking for all sorts of so-called miracle doctors, hoping to get pregnant through medication.
But Lu Lanxu found out.
One day, Lu Lanxu handed her a document.
It was his medical report stating that he was infertile.
The handsome man stood in front of her, his voice low.
“Sui Sui, stop taking those pills. Let’s just live like this, okay?”
At the time, Zhu Suisui believed it and was heartbroken that she couldn’t have a child with the man she loved.
But she was afraid that Lu Lanxu would be sad, so she never mentioned having children again.
Lu Lanxu quickly spread the news.
It stopped the Lu family from pressuring her to have children, and they became friendlier towards Zhu Suisui.
But many years later, while packing her things, Zhu Suisui accidentally discovered a yellowed vasectomy report.
Only then did Zhu Suisui realize that it wasn’t Lu Lanxu who couldn’t have children, but that he didn’t want to have children with her.
He actually disliked her so much that he didn’t even want to have a child with her.
Perhaps back then, she had really been forcing things.
Over the years, living with Lu Lanxu, Zhu Suisui had come to know him somewhat.
Although Lu Lanxu was cold, he was a man of excellent character.
Because of his excellence, the Lu family would eventually be handed over to him. Gradually, Lu Lanxu began to represent the Lu family, and whenever the Lu family had any problems, he would step forward to handle them.
In the military district,
whether it was comrades, colleagues, or even people from other units, anyone who had interacted with Lu Lanxu praised him.
Such a person, even if he didn’t love her, he still agreed to marry her out of a sense of responsibility.
He just didn’t want to have a child with her.
But Zhu Suisui loved him.
From the moment she saw Lu Lanxu at the age of seventeen, she knew she was completely smitten.
All these years, what had sustained her through this life was her love for Lu Lanxu.
The man who had captivated her in her youth, her love for him had not diminished with time, but had grown stronger.
But now this dream was shattered. Was she supposed to hold onto the broken pieces and deceive herself into continuing this failed marriage?
She couldn’t.
The attempt to warm his heart over the years had become a delusion at this moment.
This time, the dream really had to wake up.
So, she had the idea of getting a divorce.
But then…
Thinking about it,
Zhu Suisui realized that her head was throbbing in pain. She couldn’t quite remember what happened next.
She only vaguely remembered that she had called Lu Lanxu that night and planned to tell him about the divorce when he came back the next day.
But she didn’t expect, that when she opened her eyes again, she was reborn.
At this moment, a knock on the door suddenly sounded.
Zhu Suisui was startled. She thought to herself: Is it Lu Lanxu?
Thinking of this man, her emotions involuntarily fluctuated.
Zhu Suisui let out a long sigh, mockingly curving her lips.
After a while, she calmed down, “Coming.”
At this moment, she had already calmed down and accepted the fact of her rebirth.
Perhaps even heaven pitied her, giving her a second chance.
This lifetime, she decided to live differently, no longer putting her whole heart into Lu Lanxu.
What kind of bullshit love.
Go to hell.
I don’t need it!
Zhu Suisui wanted a divorce, she wanted a divorce now, she would immediately tell Lu Lanxu about the divorce!
She was only nineteen years old, she had a lot of beautiful time ahead of her. What couldn’t she do? Why hang herself on one man?
After the divorce, Zhu Suisui would go find seventeen or eighteen young and handsome men, so she could enjoy her beautiful life to the fullest.
Since she had decided to get a divorce, she didn’t want to drag things out.
Perhaps this would be a relief for Lu Lanxu, allowing him to pursue his own happiness.
He was at home now.
After all, she had to talk to Lu Lanxu about the divorce first. Once they both agreed, the paperwork would be quick.
Thinking about this, she got up and prepared to open the door.
But as soon as she moved, she realized that her legs were aching like they were filled with lead.
The memory of last night’s passionate encounter suddenly flooded back.
She immediately lowered her head and looked at her body.
There were intimate marks all over.
Enough to prove the intensity of last night.
Zhu Suisui: “…”
So, she had been reborn last night, and everything wasn’t a dream?!
Thinking about this,
Zhu Suisui took a deep breath and remained expressionless.
“It doesn’t matter. As long as I don’t admit it, it’s like it never happened.”
She could just pretend to be oblivious.
If anyone asked, she would say she didn’t remember anything!
At this moment, Zhu Suisui had the potential to become a ruthless scumbag.
Zhu Suisui prepared herself mentally before walking to the door, pulling the handle and opening it –
