What does she like?
Like, what does it mean?
The ancient demon didn’t know, but he wanted to know.
He stood in the wind and snow, listening to the voices coming from her side, but the voices had become familiar.
“Cruel devil.”
“Why is it coming out again?”
“Why can’t it be killed? What exactly is this thing?”
The words flowed into his ears, originating from the rib he had taken from his frozen heart and from her side.
The recent disputes seemed to have ceased around her. The people who had spoken gently to her stopped, and those who had talked about taking her back to Chang Sword Sect and finding a man for her also fell silent.
After the appearance of the ominous cruel devil, all the conflicts among the people became united.
“If that cruel devil breaks free this time, will it burn down the entire Spirit Continent?”
“That inherently evil creature is sure to bring about a calamity that will destroy the world.”
“If we, the righteous path, join forces, launch a massive attack, and unite all the current experts, we should be able to suppress it.”
“Legend has it that if we dig out its other eye and heart, which were removed as punishment, we can kill this deformed cruel devil.”
These voices were more clamorous than anything the ancient demon had heard in the past thirty thousand years.
They were filled with disgust, hatred, annoyance, and ill-will, wishing for his death.
And the girl was among these people. She knew all of them, as if they were a group.
She had said she would come back. Would she still give him roses?
The true form of the ancient demon, towering through the heavens and earth, created gusts of wind and snow. He anxiously struck the ancient blood array with his claws, feeling the pain tearing through him as his body, which had only recovered twenty percent of his soul, once again tore apart. His meridians trembled, nearly rupturing from the forceful impact.
But what he feared even more was hearing her agreement.
Amidst the chaotic voices, the ancient demon finally heard her voice clearly, saying, “It’s so terrifying.”
The consciousness of the ferocious beast was immediately awakened. Then, the ancient demon lowered its massive head, looking at its claws that had been torn apart and were once again a bloody mess.
Ferocious and bloody.
Now, she was afraid of him too.
The ancient demon suddenly felt fear.
It was an unfamiliar fear that the natural-born ferocious beast had never experienced before. Standing amidst the icy spikes and snow, he hurriedly retracted his claws.
The girl was about to say something, but Chong Yan abruptly broke the bone pendant.
He couldn’t bear to listen.
“It’s so terrifying,” Yao Yao angrily said, “Why are so many of them going to fight it? Don’t they have any sense of reason?”
The ancient demon wasn’t bad and hadn’t done anything to them.
“What?” Ji Rong stood beside Yao Yao, pondering the consequences if there’s a sudden appearance of the ancient demon and considering what plans Chang Sword Sect should make. He didn’t hear clearly, “What did you say?”
He turned his head and saw Yao Yao looking worried.
As a little girl, she had never seen such a gigantic ferocious beast before, so it was natural for her to be afraid.
Due to the sudden eruption of the ancient demon, Ji Rong temporarily put away his sword. Even during his seclusion, he felt the sudden tremors of the earth. The terrifying power of the ancient demon was strong enough to cause turmoil throughout Spirit Continent. If it were released, no one could stop it. It would indeed pose a risk of world destruction.
Ji Rong tightened his grip on the Divine Sword. As the family head, he remained calm and comforted his sister, saying, “Don’t be afraid. Even if it truly violates the array and escapes, it won’t be able to harm you.”
But Yao Yao is worried.
The bone pendant she had been holding tightly in her hand lost its warmth in an instant, as if it had fallen into an abyss.
Li Cangyan was worried that the ancient demon will break the array.
The atmosphere within the Wuji Sect became tense and vigilant. The disciples began urgent preparations, reinforcing the barrier, and erecting thousands of toxic arrows aimed towards the Forsaken Abyss. Additional personnel were dispatched to the lookout tower to keep a close watch.
However, the ancient demon remained still.
Having experienced countless ice shards piercing through the Shadow Projection Jade, it dared not fly within a hundred miles of that cruel devil. It could only spy from a great distance.
The distorted and enlarged figure of the ancient cruel devil stopped once again in the void.
That ferocious cruel devil, with its giant head hanging down, appeared to be sorrowful.
How could a cruel devil be sorrowful?
“This ferocious beast has been sealed in the abyss for tens of thousands of years and has never shown interest in the outside world. Now it repeatedly tries to break free, but it is all for that one thing.”
“What thing?” the sect master on the throne pondered for a moment, then let out a long sigh.
“The true divine artifact,” he looked at everyone, “the Divine Meteor Eye. It is said that it will appear in the Naitian Secret Realm this time. And that Divine Meteor Eye, legend has it, is one of the eyes of this ancient ferocious cruel devil.”
“Yao Yao: Ah! So, this is the plot.”
The audience was in an uproar, instantly believing this explanation.
The Sect Leader worried, “If that ancient demon retrieves its eyes, its divine power will be restored to over half. Won’t it violate the array again?”
As easy as flipping one’s hand.
Yes, the power that currently oppresses the entire cultivation world is only a fraction of the ancient demon’s power. Each part of their divine body’s return can infinitely enhance their divine power. How can one not be afraid of that?
To the cultivation world, they are a threat from a higher species. Before the word ‘demon,’ there is the word ‘god.’
Su Yiling had just helped the coughing Li Cangyan sit down when she heard this. She turned her head and looked at Yao Yao with tearful eyes.
“Yao Yao, have you heard? Your Divine Sword is indeed impressive, but you need to know that there are true divine artifacts beyond your reach. Today, you only have the Divine Weapon Dragon Spine Sword, yet you ordered Master Ji to attack Brother Cangyan. Is this what a righteous person should do?”
Her words carried great strength, instantly causing all disciples of the Wuji Sect to accuse and express dissatisfaction.
Ji Rong frowned and was about to lift the sword to strike again, but Yao Yao took it away.
The slender girl held the bronze long sword in her hand and waved it like a glow stick, her face innocent. She uttered five words that rang in everyone’s ears.
“Oh, do you want it?”
Su Yiling’s face immediately turned red.
It was she who had found the map and led Cangyan and the disciples of the Wuji Sect up the mountain. She personally pointed out the location of the Dragon burial mound, but they didn’t find it. However, she never expected that the divine sword would end up in Ji Yao’s hands.
Su Yilin reluctantly raised her chin. “You also heard what the Sect Leader said earlier. I will help Brother Cangyan obtain the Divine Meteor Eyes.”
Yao Yao clapped confidently. “Then you will definitely enter the secret realm.”
Su Yilin replied, “Of course.”
Yao Yao asked, “Do you swear?”
Su Yilin pointed to the sky and said, “I swear, I will accompany Brother Cangyan deep into the secret realm to search for divine artifacts.”
A cultivator’s oath is witnessed by the heavens. Once made, it cannot be retracted, otherwise, it would harm one’s Dao heart.
