“You’re really asking for trouble by going there now,” Gu Xuanhao said while watching the news. By the time he turned around, Gu Xuance had already finished reviewing the documents. He neatly organized the files and placed them aside, his expression still unchanged as he looked at his impulsive and thoughtless younger brother. “The media focus is now on Lu Ye and Lu Youze. I’ve just managed to suppress your trending topic. If you go over now, aren’t you practically sending material to the reporters? They’ll just accuse you and Lu Youze of getting involved, and they’ll add fuel to the fire, saying that Lu Youze was having an affair with you while dating Yu Ye. How are you going to explain that?”
“I don’t care what those damn reporters write.”
Although Gu Xuance’s face didn’t change much, his gaze turned colder, clearly irritated by Gu Xuanhao’s response. This was his younger brother: simple, impulsive, and stupid, always acting without considering the consequences. He was lucky to be born as his brother; if it weren’t for him, he wouldn’t know how many times he’d have fallen.
Gu Xuanhao felt the anger in his older brother’s eyes, and although he didn’t understand why, he instinctively stepped back a few paces. From their childhood experience, whenever his brother was angry, he would always end up in trouble.
“Ahao, you may not care, but have you considered Lu Youze?” Gu Xuance asked calmly, though his tone was a reprimand. His words were so calm it made it hard to tell what he was really feeling. “He’s already in a difficult situation. You, as his so-called friend, are handing material to his enemies. How stupid can you be?”
“I—” Gu Xuanhao tried to defend himself, but under his brother’s cold stare, he didn’t know how to begin.
“If I were you, I wouldn’t have stayed in his hospital room last night,” Gu Xuance said practically. “You know that so many eyes are on him now. He has offended so many people, and there are plenty of people who want him gone. You shouldn’t give them an opportunity.”
Gu Xuanhao had a feeling that when Gu Xuance mentioned him staying in Lu Youze’s room, his brother’s gaze flickered with something. It seemed like he was even more upset.
“Brother, you don’t know what happened,” Gu Xuanhao’s face reddened with anger. “That Yu Ye is a real piece of work. He deliberately released his pheromones, making Lu Youze go into heat early, and now he’s turning everything around and blaming him. It’s driving me crazy.”
Gu Xuance furrowed his brows, and even he didn’t realize that his expression had become more unpleasant than ever.
“Lu Youze isn’t pregnant, is he? Then he should have been marked. Can pheromones from other Alphas cause him to go into heat?”
“Oh, he’s tough on himself, though. He erased his mark,” Gu Xuanhao recalled, still impressed by Lu Youze’s decision. “But he didn’t expect his luck to be this bad. Even after erasing the mark, he still ended up pregnant. That’s just tragic.”
“He erased his mark?” Gu Xuance asked coldly.
“Yeah.”
Gu Xuanhao suddenly felt like the study room was colder. He involuntarily shivered.
“Brother, is the air conditioner too low?” Gu Xuanhao asked, but after thinking, he realized that the more pressing issue was Lu Youze. “Brother, what if something happens to Lu Youze if I don’t go over?”
“Do you really think you’re his savior?” Gu Xuance mocked. “Don’t worry, Lu Youze’s grandpa has already gone to the hospital. With him there, Lu Youze won’t suffer. You don’t need to worry about it. Haven’t you skipped breakfast? Ye Xing must have already prepared something for you. Go eat now.”
“Then I’ll go to his house and see him.” Gu Xuanhao thought for a moment and then added, “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure not to get photographed.”
“Lu Youze isn’t a child.” Gu Xuance furrowed his brows, his voice colder than before. “Do you really think he can’t live without you?”
“Brother, you don’t understand. Lu Youze has lost his memory,” Gu Xuanhao quickly explained. “That’s why I stayed in his room for so long. I was helping him regain his memories.”
At the mention of Lu Youze’s memory loss, Gu Xuance’s expression subtly changed, and his gaze became a little more thoughtful.
“You’d better listen to me,” Gu Xuance said as he walked out of the study, turning back to look at Gu Xuanhao. “You should stop going to see him these next few days. And I’m sure Lu Youze’s grandpa doesn’t want to see you right now.”
After Gu Xuance left, Gu Xuanhao stood in the study for a long time. He wasn’t really stupid, but sometimes, he acted impulsively, and his body moved faster than his brain. He thought what his brother said made sense, but he still didn’t feel comfortable leaving Lu Youze alone. He decided to call later to check on the situation and decide whether to go or not.
Just then, his stomach growled. After all, food was the most important thing, so he decided to eat first and worry about other matters later. Just as he was about to ask the kitchen to prepare something for him, Ye Xing came in.
Ye Xing smiled politely and said, “Young Master, breakfast is ready.”
Gu Xuanhao’s expression immediately soured when he saw Ye Xing.
Ye Xing, who had always been by his brother’s side, used his good relationship with Gu Xuance to constantly oppose Gu Xuanhao.
“Who said I’m eating?” Gu Xuanhao glanced at Ye Xing and decided to eat outside.
“These are all your favorites, Young Master. If you don’t want to eat, I’ll have the servants clear it away,” Ye Xing replied, seemingly unfazed by Gu Xuanhao’s attitude, still smiling.
On the surface, he seemed polite and refined, but in reality, he was a sly fox.
This was how Gu Xuanhao saw the family butler.
But food was in front of him, and he couldn’t be bothered to argue. After all, the chef was highly skilled, but since he often slept in, he usually missed out on breakfast. Outside of meal times, the expensive chef wouldn’t give anyone special treatment.
“I didn’t say I’m not eating.” Gu Xuanhao shot a fierce look at Ye Xing. “Didn’t your teacher teach you not to waste food when you were little?”
“Yes, Young Master, you’re right,” Ye Xing lowered his head in apparent humility, but when Gu Xuanhao wasn’t looking, the corner of his mouth curved up slightly, looking quite pleased.
Their second young master was so cute that people couldn’t help but want to tease him.
