Chapter 46: Tang Hua Returns
“You dare to come find me!” She glared at Lin Qianqian, her teeth gritted.
Lin Qianqian was a little confused, but she just thought she was angry because the previous plan didn’t work out.
She looked around and whispered, “Who told your third brother to be so incompetent and get himself locked up? But I’ve found a new target now, definitely no worse than your third brother.”
Zhao Xiaohui was stunned, then quickly reacted.
She was talking about framing Bai Ruojiao.
She looked at Lin Qianqian’s eyes, which seemed a little too excited, and a dark glint suddenly flashed in her eyes. She asked in a low voice, “Who is it?”
Lin Qianqian looked around, grabbed her arm, and pulled her to the riverbank.
After making sure that no one was around, she whispered, “Zhu Lao Lai from the neighboring production team. Have you heard of him?”
Zhao Xiaohui was surprised, “That old drunkard who beat two of his wives to death?”
She thought to herself, this woman is really vicious. She became even more wary of her.
She could use such methods to harm Bai Ruojiao. She might do the same to her.
This woman must be eliminated.
“How could he agree to you? Isn’t he afraid of my fourth brother’s revenge?”
Lin Qianqian sneered, “There are ways to talk, and money can make the devil grind. Anyway, don’t worry about that. You just need to help bring Bai Ruojiao to the designated place.”
Zhao Xiaohui rolled her eyes and suddenly smiled, “No problem. Tell me the plan in detail.”
Seeing that she was agreeable, Lin Qianqian’s attitude improved slightly, and she began to tell her the plan.
The next day, when Bai Ruojiao woke up, Zhao Sihai had already gone to work.
After washing up, she dug An’an out of bed, who was still sleeping.
“Mom, I’m sleepy.” An’an rubbed his eyes and wanted to sleep, his head lolling.
Bai Ruojiao took his clothes and put them on him, “An’an, Mom needs your help today.”
An’an tried to open his eyes, but it took him a while to ask, “What’s the matter?”
Bai Ruojiao turned around, took a warm towel, and wiped his face, explaining as she did.
“Mom is going to take you to the commune today, but you have to stay at the big villa.”
An’an, who had finished washing his face, was much more awake. He tilted his head in confusion, “Why?”
“Because what Mom has to do isn’t suitable for children to be around.”
“Oh.” An’an understood, then asked, “Then Mom, I’ll go find Jingguo gege.”
“No, your grandpa might come tomorrow. I’m not comfortable leaving you.”
An’an was stunned, seemingly a little confused.
Bai Ruojiao was a little headache. She was thinking about how to explain the situation of “using the emperor to control the princes.”
But An’an suddenly said obediently, “Mom, I understand. An’an will be good.”
Bai Ruojiao was stunned, but seeing his slightly scared expression, she suddenly understood.
The system must have tricked him into something.
But it was good this way. She didn’t have to bother explaining.
“Good boy.” Bai Ruojiao smiled and poked his little nose.
Then, the mother and son had a simple breakfast and went out.
When people asked, she said that Zhao Sihai had forgotten his lunch this morning and she was going to deliver it to him.
Naturally, she received a lot of good-natured teasing from people.
After she left, several people watched the mother and son walk slowly towards the commune and couldn’t help but sigh.
“Bai Zhiqing is truly enjoying the fruits of her labor now. Her husband is capable, her son is obedient, she has a house, and she doesn’t have to suffer from her in-laws anymore. She’ll just enjoy a carefree life from now on.”
“Yeah, at this rate, maybe she’ll be able to move to the city soon.”
“How can it be that fast? It’s not like you can get a house as soon as you start working.”
“You’re silly, you can rent a house first. When the factory assigns you a house, you can just move in.”
“That’s true. Tsk tsk tsk, people without fate have no luck.”
“Pfft, fate? Do you have someone as gentle and kind as Bai Zhiqing? Do you have someone as beautiful and charming?”
“Well, being beautiful doesn’t put food on the table, and being gentle doesn’t help you earn work points.”
“Heh, she doesn’t need you to earn work points. Sihai will earn 80 yuan a month. That’s enough for a family to live comfortably.”
After a round of insults, they all left in a huff.
Bai Ruojiao carried An’an and walked for almost forty minutes before reaching the commune.
Fortunately, the weather was clear and sunny, and the sun wasn’t too hot.
Upon arriving at the commune, she didn’t go to the public toilet to change clothes like last time.
Instead, she went to another residential area.
There were many old, dilapidated bungalows here.
She wore a straw hat and walked through the winding streets until she reached a rather dilapidated small bungalow.
Most people were at work at this time. Occasionally, there were people at home, but they were all inside.
Even if they came out, seeing her dressed in ordinary clothes and carrying a child, they didn’t pay much attention.
Moreover, the house she rented was in a secluded area at the end of the street. By the time she arrived, there was no one around.
She put An’an down and took out her key to unlock the gate of the small courtyard.
This house was rented by her for one yuan a month.
The previous tenant was an elderly couple who wanted to live with their son in the county, so they were eager to rent out the house.
The house wasn’t big. It was about 70 square meters, including the small courtyard, and only had one main room.
The house had been cleaned, but it had been closed up for too long, and the smell was a bit unpleasant.
An’an looked around curiously, “Mom, where are we?”
“This is Mom’s secret base.”
An’an was confused, “What’s a secret base?”
Bai Ruojiao said it casually, forgetting that the little guy was at the age of asking a million questions.
She was racking her brains for an explanation when she saw An’an suddenly widen his eyes, his face full of “Wow, so cool” expression.
Okay, she didn’t need to explain.
After the room was aired out, the mother and son went inside.
They closed the door, and she took An’an into the villa.
On the day she discovered that the system had been bound to An’an, in order to improve the little guy’s tolerance,
She would occasionally take him into the villa to familiarize him with things that were different from this era.
As soon as they entered the villa, An’an was like a wild horse that had broken free from its reins. He immediately jumped onto the soft sofa, rolled around, and shouted, “Xiao An, turn on the TV…”
Before he could finish, he heard his mother’s soft cough.
The intelligent system responded and turned on the TV.
The tall LCD screen immediately showed the cartoon that they had exited and hadn’t finished watching.
An’an froze. He quickly sat up, twisting his little fingers, “Xiao An, turn off…”
Bai Ruojiao looked at him with amusement, “You can watch TV for an hour today. After that, go to the study to read and write. Mom will come and check.”
The little guy’s eyes immediately lit up like light bulbs, “Mom, I understand!”
Bai Ruojiao rubbed his little head, gave him a few more instructions, and told the system to watch him, not to let him play too much, before going upstairs to the bedroom.
A moment later, a dark-skinned female bandit appeared.
She pulled down her hat and turned to leave the space.
After making sure that no one was outside the courtyard, she quickly went out, locked the door, and left.
