Chapter 10: Fox Ears Are Great to Rua
The sickly, handsome man on the bed groaned twice, his brow furrowing, but he didn’t open his eyes.
Who wouldn’t feel pity and tenderness upon seeing this delicate, adorably handsome, and pale face?
Especially with those two fluffy ears.
Seeing that he wasn’t awake, I finally couldn’t resist extending my devilish hand, reaching for those two ears I had long wanted to fondle.
They were about the size of my palm, perfect for holding in one hand, hot, soft, and yet a little firm.
I had never raised a pet since I was a child because I was too destructive; even the dogs in the village avoided me.
I didn’t expect pets to be so fun, capable of softening people’s hearts.
Just as I was kneading with gusto, Wen Ye’s eyes suddenly snapped open. A flash of confusion flitted across the depths of his pupils, immediately replaced by a guarded, wary ferocity. I felt like he was about to bare his fangs at any moment.
Startled, I retracted my hand, placing it behind my back, and sat up straight, coughing twice to cover up my previous actions.
An un-tamed fox can’t be touched yet.
“The food is ready. Get up and eat something. You can’t take medicine on an empty stomach.”
I helped him sit up with difficulty. The blanket slipped from his shoulder, revealing a fair, clean, and somewhat toned shoulder.
Jet-black hair slid down, partially obscuring the tantalizing view, yet it was exceptionally alluring.
Realizing that I was once again lusting after this fox spirit, I bit my tongue hard.
Le Xiaomai, have you never touched a man? You can’t control your raging hormones when you see a demon!
No, I haven’t!…But it doesn’t hurt to peek at such a beautiful body.
No matter how beautiful, he’s still a fox! Have you forgotten the pet clothes you saw earlier? That’s his original form!
Yes…but hasn’t he turned back into a fox yet?
Le Xiaomai, you’re hopeless!
It was as if a black and white Le Xiaomai were fighting in my head.
“What are you spacing out about?” Wen Ye’s words interrupted my thoughts. He looked at me with slight disgust.
I composed myself, stood up quickly, wanting to escape, “Oh, oh…nothing, nothing. I’ll go get you some clothes.”
The walk-in closet in the master bedroom only had a few brand-new white short-sleeved shirts and large pajama shorts hanging inside. Judging from the size, they didn’t seem like Wen Ye’s; they were more like that Zhao Yanzu’s.
“Wear whatever.”
He took them casually, planning to lift the blanket and put them on right in front of me.
Do small animals have no sense of shame?!
“Wait! I’ll go out first!” Although I was somewhat greedy for his beauty, I didn’t want to watch an R-rated scene.
I turned my back to leave but was worried about him straining his wound, so I asked with concern, “Can you manage by yourself?”
“Yes.”
That’s right. He kicked me away earlier and slapped me with quite a bit of force, so putting on clothes shouldn’t be a problem.
Right, he slapped me! I touched my face. Besides the pain, it was actually burning hot.
Le Xiaomai, you’re truly blinded by lust. He hit you so hard just now, yet you don’t hold any grudges!
Who told him to be my employer? The monthly salary is so high…Besides, he didn’t do it on purpose. There’s yin qi from the little ghost on me. Maybe he acted out of vigilance.
Also, I accidentally sat on his lower abdomen, causing his wound to reopen. It’s only natural for him to be angry.
Le Xiaomai, are you crazy?! Do you need to see a doctor and have your head examined! When have you ever suffered such a loss? Being tricked and schemed against without getting angry is one thing, but now you’re being beaten by a fox spirit and still finding excuses for him!
The gentle, white-clothed Xiaomai in my mind was about to retort when my shoulder was bumped. When I came back to my senses, Wen Ye was already sitting at the dining table.
Still curled up.
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry: “How can you eat like this? And this will strain your wound. Put your legs down, like this.”
I sat next to him, demonstrating.
He lazily lifted his eyelids and slowly put his legs down, placing his hands on the dining table. He looked like a primary school student being lectured by the teacher on the first day of school, adorable and uneasy.
I ladled a bowl of soup for him and placed it in front of him: “Do you know how to use chopsticks and a spoon?”
“Yes.”
Seeing him holding the chopsticks in his hand, trying several times without getting it right, I finally understood what Zhao Yanzu meant by “teaching him how to be human.”
This was throwing a grown child with no ability to take care of himself to me.
I covered my forehead, suppressing my throbbing veins, and gave up.
I took the chopsticks from his hand, picked up the bowl, sat in front of him, and said helplessly, “Since you’re a patient, I’ll feed you first. You can learn these things when you get better.”
“I know how!” He glared at me stubbornly, trying to snatch the chopsticks from my hand, but I dodged.
“Okay, okay, you know! But the food will get cold. I’ll feed you faster. You still have a fever. You need to take your medicine quickly after eating and get some rest.” I coaxed and tricked him.
I thought to myself, Yeah right, you know!
He turned his head away, looking unwilling to accept my kindness. I resisted the urge to twist his head back, wearing a polite smile: “Just this once. You can eat by yourself when you recover, okay? Don’t make things difficult for your body.”
Holding the bowl, I picked up a piece of broccoli with mushrooms and brought it to his mouth: “I don’t know what you like, so try this first?”
Wen Ye turned his head, lowered his eyes to look at the dish, and frowned even more, turning his head away, pursing his lips: “Take it away. I don’t like this taste!”
I am so done!
Le Xiaomai, don’t argue with a wounded animal! For the sake of your salary, be patient!
I gnashed my teeth secretly and picked up a piece of stuffed tofu. The tofu was stuffed with meat. Foxes should like it, right? But this big brother refused to eat it for the same reason!
Just when he rejected the shrimp and cucumber soup, I couldn’t bear it any longer.
“Why are you so picky! You don’t eat this, you don’t eat that! I’ve been working so hard all day, decocting medicine and cooking, and changing your towel in between! Are you just trampling on my labor?”
“If you’re not going to eat, you might as well eat dog food!” I put the bowl forcefully on the table, turning my head away, feeling aggrieved.
What’s going on? I’ve never served my great-grandmother like this. Facing a small animal, I’m being so humble.
It’s true that money is hard to earn!
Da—the sound of chopsticks falling.
Turning my head, I saw Wen Ye about to bend over. Without thinking, I went to help him pick up the chopsticks.
Once I vented my anger, I didn’t feel so bad. I even felt a little guilty, after all, I was taking his money. I had to endure even when I was angry.
“If you really don’t like it, you don’t have to force yourself.” Seeing him eating with difficulty, I felt a little embarrassed and sorry for him.
Small animals should be very sensitive to certain smells.
Mushrooms, broccoli, soy products, and cucumbers didn’t seem like things he liked. I silently wrote them down in my little notebook.
The meal was very depressing. After feeding him, I only ate a few mouthfuls of rice.
He had to drink the medicine no matter how much he disliked it. In the end, he went back to his room with a grimace.
Wen Ye walked a little strangely, cautiously and staggeringly, very much like a newborn. I wanted to support him, but he refused, so I had to protect him from behind.
Could it be that he just recently transformed into human form?
