“Ran Fei, those words are only appropriate if I say them to you. Have I treated you poorly? If you slander me like this, I regret being friends with you.” Gu Xiruo is still trying to shift blame.
Gu Xiruo’s shameless appearance amused Ran Fei.
“Do you think, Gu Xiruo, that you can distort the truth just because Zhen Niang isn’t here today?” How could Ran Fei not understand Gu Xiruo’s mindset? She just believed that without Zhen Niang, she could manipulate the situation.
Ran Fei turned her head towards the corner, wearing a faint smile. “Thank you, Zhen Niang.”
When Gu Xiruo saw Zhen Niang coming back from the corner, her expression changed drastically. The softness on her face disappeared, replaced by disbelief. “I…”
Zhen Niang walked out, looking at Gu Xiruo. “Miss Gu, at this point, you’re still saying such things. It’s truly disappointing.”
Even in court, Gu Xiruo is still trying to argue. This outcome was something they hadn’t anticipated.
Gu Xiruo never expected Zhen Niang to actually appear. “Why do you always have to cause trouble for me? Zhen Niang, where did I offend you?”
“Gu Xiruo, it’s not about offending me; it’s about your actions. Even when you make a mistake in front of an authority, you show no remorse. Can you justify yourself to the people who believe in you?” Zhen Niang wanted to help Wang Jinhe, but she truly despised Gu Xiruo’s behavior.
Gu Xiruo looked at Zhen Niang with a dark expression. “My affairs are none of your business.”
Ran Fei, hearing Gu Xiruo’s arrogant words, had an unpleasant expression. “Gu Xiruo, I never expected you to be this kind of person.”
Gu Xiruo snorted coldly and sarcastically said, “We’re all the same. I also never expected you to be this kind of person, talking as if we were friends.”
When things happened, wasn’t it Ran Fei who directly put her in this situation?
Ran Fei was completely disappointed in Gu Xiruo. After giving her a deep look, she turned her head and ignored Gu Xiruo.
The magistrate listened for a while and finally understood. After sternly warning Gu Xiruo, he ordered her to compensate for everyone’s losses, and he warned that there would be no leniency if there was a next time.
Although she received compensation, Ran Fei was not happy.
Due to this incident, Gu Xiruo’s reputation was somewhat tarnished. The look in her eyes as she was assisted by her maid made Ran Fei feel uneasy.
Zhen Niang gently patted Ran Fei’s shoulder. “It better that you recognize what kind of person she is sooner. It will only benefit all of you.”
“Thank you,” Ran Fei expressed gratitude and left with the others.
Zhen Niang silently smiled and went back to inform Wan Feng of the situation.
“Wan Feng, you can tell the young masters about this matter. It’s just the beginning; we’ll see the results in time,” Zhen Niang said with narrowed eyes.
If Gu Xiruo thought this matter was over, she was sorely mistaken. This was just the beginning.
“Alright, I know how to handle these things.” When it came to the instructions from the young madam, they would handle everything perfectly. Zhen Niang had done her part, and the rest should be left to him.
After sending a letter to Su Yu, Wan Feng proceeded to arrange the follow-up matters.
Wan Feng informed Su Yu of every detail that happened in the capital. Su Yu, upon learning the outcome, couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction.
Holding the letter, Su Yu went to find Wang Jinhe, seeing her busy with something alongside Xiao Bao: “What are you doing, my wife?”
“Making a toy for Xiao Bao.” Wang Jinhe said without lifting her head.
Su Yu looked at the toy in Wang Jinhe’s hand with some astonishment: “What is this?”
It looked like just a piece of wood. How could children play with this?
After Wang Jinhe assembled it, she tried it herself. Though not as sturdy as modern ones, it was suitable for the two kids to play with.
Su Yu watched as Wang Jinhe effortlessly started playing with it, eyes filled with surprise. “This thing can move?”
“Yes, it’s a skateboard. I had Dad and Grandpa make it. The two kids get bored after school, so I thought of giving them some fun.”
Su Yu was the best teacher for the two of them. With Su Yu teaching them, occasionally joined by Yu Qingfeng and Wang Jingyu, there was no need to send them to the academy.
“Mommy, I want to play, I want to play!” Xiao Bao immediately took a liking to it when he saw Wang Jinhe playing.
Both children had well-developed motor skills, and they started playing with the skateboard in no time.
Letting the two kids entertain themselves, Wang Jinhe stood up and looked at Su Yu, asking, “Did you come to me for something?”
Su Yu responded with an “Hmm”: “It’s a letter from Wan Feng.”
Wang Jinhe, anticipating, looked at Su Yu: “So, was it successful?”
Su Yu nodded with a smile: “Yes, Gu Xiruo’s reputation is completely ruined. Not only did she compensate for the losses, but the matter also reached the magistrate’s office. It’s become a significant issue.”
Wang Jinhe widened her eyes in amazement, “Is that so? These clients are impressive, sending the matter directly to the authorities.”
“Well, at first, they didn’t intend to involve the authorities. It was her own doing.” They gave her three days, but she didn’t take it seriously. Who could be blamed for that?
Wang Jinhe shook her head in disappointment, saying, “What is Gu Xiruo thinking? Wouldn’t it be better if fewer people knew about such matters? She made it widely known, and it’s not only affecting her but probably the entire Gu family as well.”
This outcome was an unexpected delight for Wang Jinhe.
She didn’t expect Gu Xiruo to gift her with such a surprising present.
“Won’t Wan Feng and the others take further action?” Wang Jinhe stared directly at Su Yu and asked.
“Of course, they won’t just let it go. They probably plan to scheme against Gu Xiruo, making the Gu family face consequences before they stop.” Su Yu knew Wan Feng and the others well. They were protective, and if Wang Jinhe was wronged, they would help her regain her dignity.
As long as Wang Jinhe thought about Gu Xiruo and the troubles facing the Gu family, she felt in a very good mood.
“Why aren’t we in the capital? If we were, we could enjoy the show,” Wang Jinhe said disappointedly.
“Do you want to go to the capital with me?” Su Yu looked at Wang Jinhe teasingly.
Wang Jinhe gave Su Yu a disdainful look and said, “I have a lot on my plate right now. I don’t have time for such things. Don’t tempt me here.”
With plenty on her plate already, Wang Jinhe couldn’t believe Su Yu was trying to tempt her. What kind of heart was that?
“We can only inquire about these things from Wan Feng.” Su Yu said disappointedly.
“Just knowing Gu Xiruo’s outcome is enough. As for the rest, I haven’t really considered it.” Su Yu squinted.
The real confrontation between the two would only unfold after they returned to the capital.
Recently, Wang Jinhe had reflected on herself. She couldn’t think as simplistically as she did in her previous life.
