In the car, the two people, who had just officially confirmed their romantic relationship, looked at each other, and then quickly shifted their gaze away as if struck by an electric shock.
One was a powerful CEO in the business world, the other an experienced figure in the entertainment industry, yet their reactions were like that of young teens just discovering love.
“Um…”
“Um…”
They spoke at the same time.
“You go first.”
“You go first.”
Once again, they spoke together.
Lu Youze chuckled.
“Hahaha, do we look like two fools?”
Lu Youze intentionally leaned his head over, but the car suddenly slammed on the brakes, startling both of them.
As expected, although Gu Xuanze’s face showed no emotion, he was actually very nervous.
Lu Youze realized that he really enjoyed teasing him.
“Youze, stop it,” Gu Xuanze’s cold voice was full of indulgence. “Let’s go to my place.”
Lu Youze asked worriedly, “Did the doctor say you could be discharged?”
“I’m fine already! Want me to show you my discharge papers?” Gu Xuanze’s gaze softened again. “I want to make your favorite dish.”
Hearing this, Lu Youze’s expression slightly changed. He thought he had hidden his feelings well, but Gu Xuanze had already noticed.
Gu Xuanze stopped the car on the side of the road and leaned over to kiss Lu Youze on the cheek.
“Your favorite scrambled eggs with tomatoes.”
A plate of scrambled eggs with tomatoes, a few simple, common home dishes. This was probably the simplest dinner on the Gu family’s table. It was so simple that Gu Xuanhao, who had just arrived in time for dinner, couldn’t help but wonder if the Gu family had gone bankrupt.
It seemed that the servants weren’t around either. Could there really be a problem? After all, his older brother was used to shouldering everything on his own.
“Big brother,” Gu Xuanhao asked politely, “Is something going wrong at home?”
Gu Xuanze, of course, knew what Gu Xuanhao was thinking. Just as he was about to explain, the persistent and thick-skinned Ye Xing interrupted.
“Don’t worry, I won’t let the second young master end up on the streets.”
Gu Xuanze frowned slightly, displeased. Lu Youze naturally noticed the change in his mood. He was good at reading people’s expressions, and now that he was emotionally invested in Gu Xuanze, he was even more attentive.
Without a word, he grasped Gu Xuanze’s hand, his fingers gently tracing the back of his hand, silently comforting his new lover.
“Gu Xuanhao,” Lu Youze pretended to be angry, looking at Gu Xuanhao. Perhaps this was what it meant to be pampered—he had become more and more unreserved in front of the Gu brothers. “Can’t you tell you’re glowing?”
Gu Xuanhao looked at Lu Youze, confused. “Lu Youze, what do you mean?”
Lu Youze squeezed Gu Xuanze’s hand and whispered, “Idiot.” He was satisfied with his current life—having a lover whose gaze never left him, a best friend he could joke around with, and a family that cared for him. This was the ideal life he had always dreamed of.
And he was thoroughly enjoying it.
It was the original person who had voluntarily given all of this up. Everything Lu Youze now had, he had regained through his efforts.
“Lu Youze, don’t think I didn’t hear you,” Gu Xuanhao angrily approached. “You just called me an idiot, didn’t you?”
“Isn’t that true?” Lu Youze raised an eyebrow and playfully asked, as if teasing a child.
Gu Xuanhao found that he liked this post-amnesia Lu Youze more and more. He liked the way they were interacting now. A long time ago, when Lu Youze didn’t know Yu Li, they used to get along this way. But ever since Yu Li appeared, Lu Youze had only had eyes for Yu Li, and he didn’t care about anyone else.
“You’re the idiot,” Gu Xuanhao said with a smile. He raised his hand and ruffled Lu Youze’s hair. “You’re a big fool.”
Gu Xuanze and Ye Xing silently watched the two, their eyes filled with affection.
Gu Xuanhao had intended to tease them more, but then he “accidentally” noticed the hand Lu Youze and his brother were holding. A mischievous and knowing smile appeared on his face. Ever since the last time he left Lu Youze’s house, he had sensed that Lu Youze’s attitude toward his brother seemed to have changed. Especially in the hospital, the two of them were always subtly showing affection. At that time, he had a feeling that these two would eventually end up together.
Gu Xuanhao looked back and forth at the two of them, and he was now completely sure that they were already together.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk,” Gu Xuanhao leaned in toward Lu Youze with a teasing smile. “Lu Youze, when did I call you ‘sister-in-law’?”
Even though he was slowly getting used to his Omega identity, he still wasn’t used to being called female titles like “sister-in-law” or “wife,” even though he was carrying a child. After all, he was still a real man.
“Sister-in-law, you big-head ghost,” Lu Youze grabbed his chopsticks and lightly tapped Gu Xuanhao on the head. “From now on, you call me ‘bro-husband,’ got it?”
“Hey, Lu Youze, are you serious? That really hurt!” Gu Xuanhao complained, rubbing his head, not really paying attention to what Lu Youze said about the title.
But Gu Xuanze heard it. A hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, and his lips seemed to curl up into a slight smile.
He didn’t care about the title, but Lu Youze had just said “from now on,” which meant they would always be together. Suddenly, a warm sense of contentment filled his heart. Gu Xuanze looked at his lover and brother, who were still bickering, and thought that this was probably the ultimate form of happiness he had always wanted.
“Second young master, where does it hurt? I’ll blow on it and it won’t hurt anymore,” Ye Xing said from behind, using a childlike tone.
This tone really irritated him.
“Ye Xing, stop grossing me out,” Gu Xuanhao pushed him away. “I’m not a kid.”
“Ah Hao,” Gu Xuanze saw how naturally the two were interacting, and a warning bell went off in his mind. “Do you want to sit down and eat with us?”
Ye Xing glanced at Gu Xuanze and said with a fake smile, “Big brother, is this really okay? Mr. Lu was just complaining about second young master being a third wheel.”
“Ah?”
Gu Xuanhao only realized the meaning behind Lu Youze’s words just now.
“You, Lu Youze,” Gu Xuanhao gritted his teeth. “A perfect example of valuing romance over friendship.”
“So what if I value romance over friendship?” Lu Youze replied confidently, his fingers still caressing the back of Gu Xuanze’s hand, teasing him. “Your brother is worth it. If you’re not happy, go find your brother and tell him to stop looking so good.”
Gu Xuanhao was stunned. “Lu Youze, I’ve known you for so many years, and I didn’t know you were this shameless.”
“That’s because you’re dumb.”
“Big brother.” Gu Xuanhao quickly turned to complain to his older brother. “Lu Youze is bullying me.”
Then he noticed something different about his older brother. If he wasn’t mistaken, his older brother… the man with the unchanging icy expression, the one who could stay calm and have security throw someone out without batting an eyelash, had just blushed.
“Big brother, you…”
Gu Xuanhao was too shocked to speak. Can falling in love really change a person? Gu Xuanhao, who had never truly liked anyone, suddenly felt a tinge of envy. Watching the two of them smile at each other and seeing his brother’s expression softer than usual, he felt an urge to seriously like someone for the first time.
“Second young master.” Ye Xing took the opportunity to grab Gu Xuanhao’s hand gently. “Let’s not take this insult. Come on, I recently found a private kitchen that makes better food than the renowned chefs. I’ll take you there.”
“Really?” Gu Xuanhao’s eyes lit up like a foodie.
“Of course, I’ve tried it. It’s truly a taste of heaven.” Seeing the excitement in Gu Xuanhao’s face, Ye Xing felt that all the effort and resources he had spent were worth it. “How could I dare recommend something bad to you, second young master? I know very well how skilled Chef Fang is.”
“Then let’s go, hurry up.” Gu Xuanhao pushed Ye Xing towards the door while calling to his older brother, “Big brother, I won’t be your third wheel.”
Gu Xuanze wanted to say something but after thinking for a moment, he chose to stay silent.
Once Gu Xuanhao left, the restaurant became quiet again.
The two of them looked at each other, then quickly averted their gaze, the atmosphere becoming tense once more. Even though they had spoken so boldly and openly in front of a third person, when alone, they acted like innocent teens.
His lover is so cute, Gu Xuanze thought.
He repeated “his” in his heart.
The current Youze was completely different from before. He used to be like an aloof queen, but now he was a gentleman in front of others, while more lively and straightforward with him. He had fallen in love with the present Youze, this unique treasure that belonged only to him.
Gu Xuanze walked over to Lu Youze’s chair. When the other raised his head, he kissed his lips, his hand holding the back of his neck as he deepened the kiss.
“I love you.” After ending the tender kiss, Gu Xuanze said to the breathless Lu Youze, who was leaning on his chest. He realized he had never formally said those three words before. He wasn’t really good at expressing himself, but when he looked at him, the words came from the heart.
Lu Youze was still lost in the kiss. According to Gu Xuanhao, Gu Xuanze had never shown interest in women and didn’t have any other Omegas around him. For over twenty years, he had lived a monk-like life, probably solving his physical needs alone. But why was his kissing skill so good? He had acted in countless kissing scenes, though many were just staged or brief touches, but none of them should have been better than Gu Xuanze, who had zero experience.
Lu Youze was a bit dazed when he heard Gu Xuanze’s passionate confession. Before he met the “acting emperor,” countless people had said those three words to him. But when it was his lover saying them, it felt completely different. He could even hear his heart beating loudly, thump-thump-thump like a drum. It was so embarrassing, and his face flushed uncontrollably.
“Youze, you’re so cute.” Gu Xuanze couldn’t resist kissing his face again. He hugged him tighter, realizing how insecure Lu Youze had become after his memory loss. Gu Xuanze was trying to eliminate his insecurity bit by bit. “The old Youze would never show such a cute expression.”
Lu Youze’s eyes flickered. Was this gentle, caring man emphasizing that he liked the current version of him more?
“Men don’t like being called cute.” Lu Youze responded by hugging Gu Xuanze back, burying his head in Gu Xuanze’s abs and laughing.
Gu Xuanze kissed his hair. His voice, though calm and steady, carried a warmth that felt gentle.
“But I’m just speaking the truth.”
The two stayed in the embrace for a while. To them, just holding each other seemed like happiness, especially for Gu Xuanze.
The sound of Lu Youze’s stomach growling interrupted the tender moment. He looked up and smiled sheepishly.
“I didn’t dare eat during the shoot.”
Gu Xuanze frowned, seemingly displeased by how little Lu Youze took care of himself, then glanced at the cold dishes on the table.
“The food is cold.” Gu Xuanze said. “I’ll go make you a new portion.”
That’s the difference when you’re wealthy. Even if it’s cold, it’s easily fixed.
Though Lu Youze had never lacked money, he knew the feeling of hunger and never wasted food.
“Ah Ze.” Lu Youze called out to Gu Xuanze, who was heading towards the kitchen. “I’ll just reheat it. Don’t waste the meal you made with your own hands. Also… I want to show off a bit. I saw some pork in the kitchen, so I’ll stir-fry some green peppers with pork for you, let you try my cooking.”
“You can cook?” As far as Gu Xuanze knew, Lu Youze, even if spoiled by Yi Li, had always spent money to have a chef cook what Yi Li wanted, never cooking himself.
“I learned it out of boredom a while ago.” Lu Youze gave a vague excuse. “My cooking is definitely not as good as yours, so don’t be disappointed.”
There’s no way I would be disappointed, Gu Xuanze thought. In fact, he might just die of happiness.
Ten minutes later, there was a plate of stir-fried green peppers with pork on the table. It didn’t look as good as Gu Xuanze’s dish, but it was still nice.
“Hahaha.” Lu Youze put some into Gu Xuanze’s bowl, then eagerly urged him, “Try it, see if it’s good.”
“How is it?” As soon as Gu Xuanze took a bite, he asked nervously.
“It’s delicious.” Gu Xuanze said. “It’s the best I’ve ever had.”
Gu Xuanze’s expression and voice were so sincere that it was hard to doubt his words. Despite having tasted all sorts of delicacies, how could such a simple dish be the best?
“If you like it, I’ll cook for you whenever I have time.” Seeing Gu Xuanze’s expression, Lu Youze couldn’t help but say it.
Gu Xuanze’s eyes lit up, and like a child, he extended his pinky. “Youze, let’s make a pinky promise. No breaking it.”
“Are you a child? If Ah Hao sees you like this, he’s going to cry.” Even though he said that, Lu Youze obediently extended his pinky.
Their pinkies locked, a gesture like some kind of solemn ritual.
Pinky swear, a hundred years without changing.
