Watching Wang Jinhe’s skeptical expression, Yuan Lin knew she didn’t believe his words. But thinking about it, it was understandable. After all, someone like Gu Sheng really didn’t deserve to have such a good son.
“Regarding Gu Yanqi’s matter, I will organize the information for Madam to review later. By then, Madam will understand,” Yuan Lin said. He knew that Wang Jinhe wouldn’t believe him now, so it was better to let Madam see for herself later.
Wang Jinhe nodded, indicating her understanding. “Alright, Qing Yuhang, have them investigate the people on Cong Yu’s side. As for the rest, be vigilant on your own.”
“Yes.”
Qi Feng and Chen Jinnian suddenly felt somewhat powerless. When Madam encountered something, they couldn’t help at all. It was a truly frustrating feeling.
“Qi Feng, later, exchange information with Yuan Lin and the others. You’ve just arrived, no need to rush,” Wang Jinhe said, seeing the defeated expressions on the two. She knew what they were thinking and gave them instructions.
“Yes.”
After giving these instructions, Wang Jinhe turned her attention to her cotton breeding.
Surprisingly, when she was engaged in breeding, Qing Yukong also came knocking on her door.
Upon hearing Yuan Lin mention Qing Yukong’s visit, Wang Jinhe’s eyes revealed impatience. This person just wouldn’t give up; he had actually come to her house.
Wang Jinhe, accompanied by the sisters Qiuyi, headed home and encountered Qing Yukong at the doorstep.
“Halt.” As Wang Jinhe was about to enter her home, a voice from the carriage suddenly commanded sternly.
Wang Jinhe’s disdain for Qing Yukong intensified. Who was he to issue orders like this?
Ignoring the person, Wang Jinhe entered the house with the Qiu sisters, only to be blocked when closing the door.
Wang Jinhe looked at the guards pushing the door with a slightly cold gaze. “Who are you people?”
“You are not qualified to know. Now come with me,” Qing Yukong stepped out of the carriage, looking down at Wang Jinhe with a disdainful gaze. Wang Jinhe felt the urge to dig out his eyes.
This guy was really good at putting on airs.
“Young Madam, go inside; I’ll handle this.” Yuan Lin walked out of the house, signaling Wang Jinhe to go back.
Did Qing Yukong really think highly of himself?
“Yuan Lin, dismiss them,” Wang Jinhe let go of Yuan Lin’s hand and ordered.
“As you wish, Madam.”
Qing Yukong, displeased by the sudden appearance of someone blocking his way, looked at Yuan Lin with a cold gaze. “Who are you? How dare you interfere with my business?”
“Qing Yukong, our Young Madam is not someone you can offend.” Yuan Lin didn’t even bother to take Qing Yukong seriously.
Compared to their young master, Qing Yukong was nothing.
“Insolence! How dare you be disrespectful to our Young Master!” Before Qing Yukong could speak, the dog by his side started barking.
Narrowing his eyes, Qing Yukong recognized Yuan Lin but was displeased that his identity wasn’t acknowledged.
This recognition left Qing Yukong extremely dissatisfied.
“Humph! What is your Young Master compared to our young master? Leave immediately, and there will be no consequences,” Yuan Lin stood at the door, coldly staring at Qing Yukong without giving an inch.
Yuan Lin’s unyielding attitude embarrassed Qing Yukong to the extreme; he had never been so humiliated before.
“Who is your young master?”
“Su Yu.”
The name Su Yu made Qing Yukong somewhat wary. If it were the previous Su Yu, he wouldn’t be afraid, but the current Su Yu, with his unpredictable moods and seemingly easygoing nature, could be troublesome if angered.
But when did Su Yu get married? Why was there no news at all?
“Did Gu Xiruo not tell you when he sent you? That your looking for our young master’s wife?” Yuan Lin sneered.
Another fool being manipulated.
“I came to find her just to save my fiancée,” Qing Yukong, wary of Su Yu, dared not use forceful methods and had to resort to a different approach.
Upon hearing this, Yuan Lin laughed, “Your fiancée is not so important that our Madam would risk her own life for her.”
“Risk her life? It’s just a bit of blood,” Qing Yukong thought Yuan Lin was making a big deal out of nothing.
Yuan Lin, amused by Qing Yukong’s indifference, chuckled, “Qing Yukong, even if it’s just a strand of hair, our Madam is more precious than Gu Xiruo. Is she even comparable to our Madam?”
Just a young lady from a noble family, what qualifications did she have to be mentioned in the same breath as Madam?
“You…” Qing Yukong never expected a mere servant to degrade Ruoruo in such a way.
“You should be grateful our young master isn’t at home; otherwise…” Yuan Lin didn’t explicitly state it, but Qing Yukong understood the implication.
Since four years ago, Su Yu seemed like a different person—shrouded in shadow, with a temperament that became unpredictable. He could be chatting with you one moment and attacking you the next. His martial arts skills had significantly improved, making him unmatched among his peers in the capital.
Moreover, his elder brother was a person in the Grand Court of the Dali Temple, which wasn’t a trivial matter. Most importantly, Su Yu was highly trusted by the emperor.
Even if Su Jiu’s parents committed a grave mistake, in the end, Su Jiu emerged unscathed—a privilege that others didn’t have. Not only did he escape any repercussions, but due to the emperor’s punishment, he directly avoided the crisis, leaving those who wanted to bring him down empty-handed.
Everyone knew that the emperor intentionally protected Su Jiu, but no one dared to say much, fearing they might inadvertently provoke the emperor.
Su Jiu favored his younger brother. Not only him but even the head of the Su family and other members of the clan cherished Su Yu. Whatever Su Yu did, they turned a blind eye. If Su Yu did something right, it didn’t need to be mentioned. Even if he made a mistake, the Su family shielded him, making it impossible for anyone to find fault.
“Qing Yukong, leave here; otherwise, if something happens to the Qing family, don’t regret it. After all, there is still a lot of internal strife within the Qing family,” Yuan Lin said with a meaningful look.
Qing Yukong’s gaze turned slightly cold, and he looked at Yuan Lin sharply, “Are you threatening me?”
“You can interpret it that way.” As someone by Su Yu’s side, he directly stated that they didn’t need to bow down to anyone other than the emperor and those close to him.
Not in the past, and certainly not now.
Qing Yukong coldly stared at Yuan Lin, never having seen such an arrogant servant before. Should he commend him for being a person of Su Yu?
Taking a deep breath, Qing Yukong suppressed his anger and said to Yuan Lin, “I only need a bit of Wang Jinhe’s blood.”
Yuan Lin was infuriated by Qing Yukong’s words. He clapped his hands, and all the people who had been hiding in the shadows to protect Wang Jinhe appeared. Before Yuan Lin could say anything, the sound of approaching horse hooves stopped nearby. A hand grabbed Qing Yukong’s collar, pulling him off the carriage and throwing him to the ground.
Yu Jingchuan looked indifferently at the fallen Qing Yukong. “You’re quite resilient.”
Qing Yukong, in disarray, looked up at the man with a hoarse voice. His first sight was Yu Jingchuan
