Chapter 305: Evading Pursuit

Wang Jinhe reached out and poked the turtle’s back. “You really know how to pick a place; you ended up at my home.”

The big turtle completely ignored Wang Jinhe and remained lying there, basking in the sun as if in a trance.

Xiao Bao frowned as he looked at the lazy turtle. “Mommy, this big turtle is so lazy.”

“It is quite lazy. Ignore it. Have both of you finished your homework for today?” Wang Jinhe asked, looking at the two children.

“We’ve finished,” they both nodded obediently.

“Then, Mom will make you something delicious to reward you.” Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but think of the french fries and potato chips she had eaten in her past life.

There was no oven or stove in this place, making it impossible to cook anything fancy.

Rubbing her chin, Wang Jinhe remembered the makeshift ovens and simple stoves she had seen before.

Thinking about it made her decide. After preparing the necessary ingredients, Wang Jinhe began to build a makeshift bread oven.

Xiao Bao and Zhang Zhilin saw Wang Jinhe busy and curiously ran over. “Mommy, what are you doing?”

“I’m making something. Once it’s done, I’ll be able to cook something delicious for you.” Wang Jinhe said as she worked.

After constructing the makeshift bread oven, she also crafted a makeshift stove by smashing the bottom of a water tank.

Xiao Bao looked left and right but still didn’t understand what it was.

Wang Jinhe didn’t explain to Xiao Bao; instead, she went to catch two ducks from their home.

After marinating them with seasonings, Wang Jinhe brushed the prepared sauce on them.

Only after everything was ready did she start a fire and put the ducks inside to roast.

Qiuyi and the others were also curious, watching what Wang Jinhe had created. Could this thing really roast ducks?

With curiosity, everyone waited, and after about a cup of tea’s time, a fragrant aroma wafted through the air.

Xiao Bao spun around Wang Jinhe, “Mommy, can we eat now? It smells so good.”

“Not yet.” It’s not well-cooked yet; it’s not the right time.

Xiao Bao asked every once in a while, making Wang Jinhe somewhat amused and helpless. “It will be ready soon; don’t be impatient.”

“Godmother, this duck smells so good.” Zhang Zhilin stared fixedly at the place where the duck was being roasted.

Wang Jinhe looked somewhat surprised at Zhang Zhilin. She never expected him to be interested in the roasted duck.

After roasting for almost half an hour, Wang Jinhe stood on a stool beside and checked. Feeling that it was ready, she took it out and chopped a duck leg for each of the two children. “Try it.”

Xiao Bao eagerly took a bite of the duck leg, even though it was hot, he was reluctant to let it go.

“Mommy, it’s so delicious, even better than roasted chicken.”

“It’s delicious.” Zhang Zhilin couldn’t help but nod.

“Go and call Grandpa and the others to eat.” Wang Jinhe instructed the two children to fetch the others.

“Grandma, my mommy made roasted duck for you all to eat. It’s delicious.” After speaking, Xiao Bao took a big bite of the duck leg.

Seeing Xiao Bao like this, the elderly couldn’t help but laugh, “Look at how you eat.”

“The smell is already enticing; we should go and taste it too.” Su Xi liked the food made by Wang Jinhe, so he couldn’t miss out on a new dish.

When they arrived, Wang Jinhe had already sliced the roasted duck, prepared side dishes, and even the pancakes. Even the sauce was ready.

“How do we eat this, Mommy?” After finishing the duck leg, Xiao Bao curiously looked at the duck meat on the table.

“Like this.” Wang Jinhe demonstrated for everyone, and after watching, Xiao Bao began to do it himself.

“It’s delicious.”

“This way of eating is indeed novel, but the taste is really good.” Everyone nodded in agreement.

While enjoying the roasted duck, Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but think of Su Yu. If he were here, he would probably eat the most, right?

She wondered how things were going on Su Yu’s side.

At this moment, Su Yu was in a forest, his arms stained with blood. He leaned against a tree and looked down.

Smelling the bloody scent on himself, Su Yu felt somewhat disgusted. “I need to go back quickly; otherwise, Xiao He will worry.”

Just as Su Yu finished speaking, several people appeared around him. Su Yu muttered under his breath. These people seemed to be omnipresent, as if they could find him anywhere.

What went wrong? Why couldn’t he escape the pursuit of these people no matter where he went? How did they find him, and was there something wrong with him?

Lowering his head and looking at his clothes, Su Yu seemed to realize something and suddenly burst into laughter.

After breaking through the encirclement, he took off his outer garment and hid it in a place. Then, he began to sprint away.

The people tracking Su Yu found the place where he hid his clothes. Seeing the clothes left there, the leader silently chuckled, “Pretty clever.”

“Boss, this young master is indeed quite impressive. He has good martial arts skills and a sharp mind. It’s just that he’s a bit softhearted.”

“Yeah, during this time, let’s have some fun with the young master. Be careful; the young master is not easy to deal with. He ran away from us for so long, and now that he has escaped our pursuit, he’s likely to retaliate.”

“Yes.”

Su Yu found a cave to rest in.

He had been here for half a month, spending each day in pursuit, escaping, and nursing his injuries. He had lost track of how long it had been since he had a proper meal.

To avoid being discovered, he had been surviving on wild fruits. As for meat, he didn’t even look at it. Starting a fire would reveal his location, and as for raw meat, he had no interest.

After resting for a while, Su Yu explored the cave and unexpectedly found a hidden chamber within.

There were traces of someone living there, but it seemed like no one had been there for a long time.

There were also some firewood and other things.

“It looks like I can have something to eat.” Su Yu went out, hunted a rabbit and a wild chicken, and after preparing them, he returned to the cave to roast the meat.

Eating the unseasoned meat made Su Yu frown; tasteless food was worse than anything.

After finishing the meal, Su Yu made sure to rest promptly. After being pursued for so many days, it was time for him to counterattack.

Resting for a day and a night, Su Yu silently left as night fell.

Standing on a large tree, Su Yu could see everything below clearly. These people were still searching for him, but this time, it wasn’t going to be as easy for them to find him.

Su Yu appeared behind a person, patted his shoulder, and as the person turned around, Su Yu swiftly knocked him unconscious with a chop. He then tied him to a tree, searched for anything useful on him, took it away, and soaked it in water for a long time before leaving with the items.

The next day, the person knocked unconscious and tied up by Su Yu was finally discovered.

Seeing his subordinate tied up like this, thoroughly searched, and soaking wet, Yu Shan felt somewhat embarrassed.

“Where is he?” Yu Shan asked, looking at the bound person.

“He’s gone.”

“Untie him.” He knew that Su Yu, after escaping their pursuit, could be elusive and could appear behind them at any time.

After his companion untied the person, the one robbed by Su Yu dejectedly said, “Young Master went too far; he actually hit my neck.”
