Chapter 4
It was a beautiful day with clear skies and sunshine.
Jiang Rou was going back to her family’s home, and she woke up on her own, without Jinyue having to call her. She even woke up Lu Yun’an, who was sleeping soundly.
This time, when Lu Yun’an opened his eyes and saw Jiang Rou, he didn’t take a moment to remember that he was already married.
Yesterday, Jiang Rou had eaten breakfast and then spent a long time getting ready. Lu Yun’an didn’t have to do the same, so he could sleep a little longer. He would get up when Jiang Rou was done with her makeup.
He could just have a few bites of breakfast.
Lu Yun’an: “I’ll sleep a little longer.”
He said that and was about to go back to sleep, resting his head on the pillow.
Jiang Rou asked softly, “Why did you get up for the tea ceremony, but you want to sleep a little longer for accompanying me back home? I didn’t say to sleep a little longer during the tea ceremony.”
Lu Yun’an: “Okay, ancestor, I’m getting up.”
Jiang Rou: “Are you getting up because you want to, or because I told you to?”
Lu Yun’an: “Of course I’m getting up because I want to. How can I sleep longer for something like returning home? I can’t sleep longer for anything! Wait, I’ll get out of bed first, then you get out of bed. I’ll help you get dressed.”
When Jiang Rou was doing her makeup, Lu Yun’an suddenly leaned closer and appeared in her copper mirror.
Jiang Rou looked at him in the mirror and asked, “What are you doing?”
Lu Yun’an: “What am I doing? You know why I wanted to sleep a little longer, right?”
Jiang Rou didn’t answer his question. She picked up two hairpins and held them in front of him.
Jiang Rou: “Which one looks better?”
Both were gold hairpins, one with a peony and tassels, the other with embedded pearls.
Lu Yun’an: “You know why…”
Jiang Rou picked up another one, this time a butterfly pearl jade hairpin. “What about this one?”

Jiang Rou picked up another one, this time a butterfly pearl jade hairpin. “What about this one?”
Lu Yun’an: “Anything?”
Jiang Rou: “Anything?”
Lu Yun’an took the butterfly pearl jade hairpin and put it on Jiang Rou’s head. “This one, this one looks good.”
Jiang Rou touched her hair. Lu Yun’an said, “This one looks good, right?”
Jiang Rou: “It’s messy, messy. How can you just put a hairpin on me? It doesn’t look good.”
Jinyue quickly said, “Ma’am, Madam, just move the hairpin up a little, it will look good here.”
Lu Yun’an watched Jiang Rou and Jinyue talking, silently taking a step back.
He had laughed at his friend who had married a shrew.
“You, a big man, are even afraid of your wife, hahahahaha.”
“Don’t play with me anymore. Go home and coax your wife.”
Lu Yun’an sat lazily on the couch, fanning himself with his fan as he watched Jiang Rou still sitting at the dressing table.
He was different from his friend. He wasn’t afraid of his wife, he was just afraid of Jiang Rou crying.
Finally, Jiang Rou was done with her makeup. Lu Yun’an got up from the couch. Jiang Rou looked at him for a while before remembering something.
Jiang Rou: “Did you ask me a question just now?”
Lu Yun’an: “…”
Lu Yun’an: “No.”
Before they went to the Jiang residence, they had to see the Marquis’s wife.
This time, Lu Yun’an and Jiang Rou walked together. After a few steps, he remembered what had happened last time. Even if he arrived first, he would have to wait for Jiang Rou, so he slowed down.
Lu Yun’an walked slowly, passing by the garden. He looked at the peony flower. It was the same one Jiang Rou had looked at yesterday.
He knew because Jiang Rou had looked at it for a long time, not sure what she was looking at.
In a blink of an eye, Jiang Rou was already ahead of him. Lu Yun’an reached out and grabbed the hem of her dress. Jiang Rou stumbled and looked back at him in disbelief.
Jiang Rou: “What are you doing?”
Lu Yun’an: “I’ve been waiting for you. Why didn’t you wait for me?”
Jiang Rou: “…”
Seeing Jiang Rou getting flustered, Lu Yun’an laughed out loud. He was just as happy as yesterday when he had told Jiang Rou that the couple who ran the braised meat stall didn’t set up shop often, and she had believed him.
Jiang Rou: “I’m not waiting for you. So what?”
Lu Yun’an’s laughter stopped abruptly.
He was still holding onto Jiang Rou’s dress. He took a few big steps to catch up with her. “If you don’t wait for me, I won’t wait for you either.”
Jiang Rou quickened her pace, wanting to get ahead as quickly as possible.
After a few steps, she realized that she was practically standing still. She turned her head and saw that Lu Yun’an was still holding onto her dress.
Jiang Rou: “Let go, let go!”
Lu Yun’an laughed again. “Hahahahahaha.”
Jinyue and Jinju, who were following behind, looked at each other.
Their young lady and the young master seemed to have a very good relationship.
Sun Mammy was also waiting outside the Marquis’s wife’s courtyard. When she saw Jiang Rou, she immediately stepped forward and smiled. “Madam has been waiting for you.”
Jiang Rou: “Sun Mammy.”
Sun Mammy’s smile widened. Who wouldn’t like to see such a sweet and beautiful young lady? But she sighed inwardly, hoping that Lu Yun’an would be good to her in the future.
Marquis Dingyuan’s wife had been waiting for Jiang Rou. Seeing her gentle and soft, she added some more things to Jiang Rou’s return gifts. She also gave Lu Yun’an a few words of advice before letting them go back.
Marquis Dingyuan’s wife: “Huai’an, quickly accompany your wife back. Don’t keep your father-in-law and mother-in-law waiting.”
Lu Yun’an: “Yes.”
Marquis Dingyuan’s wife wanted to say something, but seeing Jiang Rou there, she couldn’t embarrass Lu Yun’an in front of his new wife. She said softly, “Your father-in-law and mother-in-law have raised their daughter like a precious jewel. When you get to the Jiang residence, you must put their minds at ease.”
He should understand that.
If he doesn’t understand, he can just wait to be punished by copying books!
Lu Yun’an jolted. “I guarantee that your father-in-law and mother-in-law will be satisfied. These past few days of marriage, I’ve…”
Marquis Dingyuan’s wife: “Alright, alright, go quickly. Don’t be late.”
Even Marquis Dingyuan’s wife felt sorry for Jiang Rou.
The Marquis Mansion’s carriage was large. Lu Yun’an got in and sat down. He waited for a long time before Jiang Rou slowly got in.
Lu Yun’an: “If someone didn’t know, they’d think I bullied you and wronged you!”
Jiang Rou watched as the carriage door closed. When the carriage started moving, she pushed open the window and looked out, ignoring Lu Yun’an.
Lu Yun’an: “Talk to me.”
Jiang Rou glanced at him and continued to remain silent.
Lu Yun’an: “…”
Lu Yun’an: “Jiang Rou!”
Jiang Rou: “Oh.”
The delicate young lady sat there, the light from outside the window falling on her azure blue dress, her beauty was dazzling.
Jiang Rou: “I don’t want to talk now. Be quiet.”
Lu Yun’an: “Ancestor, what did I do wrong again!”
Jiang Rou rested her elbow on the carriage window, not answering. She tilted her head, and the bustling city life outside the carriage filled her view.
All the way there, Jiang Rou was quiet. Lu Yun’an couldn’t help but know that she was angry.
The Jiang residence wasn’t far from the Marquis Dingyuan’s mansion. As the carriage approached, a servant spoke to Lu Yun’an.
Even without the servant saying anything, Jiang Rou knew. They had passed by the breakfast stall she loved, the one with the particularly rich soy milk.
When she had first returned to the capital, Jiang Rou had always liked to have the maidservants around her go out and buy it.
Lu Yun’an coughed lightly. “We’re almost there.”
Were they going to return home like this?
From afar, Jiang Rou saw those waiting for her outside the Jiang residence. She immediately showed a happy expression.
Jiang Cheng was already waving his arms at her.
Jiang Cheng: “Sister!”
His voice was clear and joyful, typical of a young boy.
Lu Yun’an looked over from his seat, not at his father-in-law and mother-in-law, but at Jiang Rou’s brother first.
Jiang Cheng and Jiang Rou shared some similarities, with handsome features and a joy that was evident on his face.
The carriage stopped outside the Jiang residence. As soon as Lu Yun’an got off, he saw Jiang Cheng rushing forward.
Jiang Cheng went to help Jiang Rou, who seemed as fragile as a willow branch, his voice filled with excitement. “Sister, go slow!”
Jiang Rou stepped down from the carriage gracefully, with Jiang Cheng’s help, using the stool the servant had brought.
Lu Yun’an seemed to understand in an instant, knowing why Jiang Rou had ignored him since getting in the carriage.
Alright, alright, was it because he hadn’t paid attention to her in the carriage, hadn’t helped her get in?
The Jiang family hadn’t split yet, and there were three branches. Jiang Rou’s family was the second branch, and the third branch was still out of town serving as officials and hadn’t returned to the capital.
The Jiang family’s second branch had also only returned to the capital recently. Jiang Rou wasn’t close to the people from the elder branch, and she didn’t get along with the eldest daughter of the elder branch. Plus, after what had happened, she didn’t have much affection for them.
Today, Jiang Rou was returning home, and her new husband was accompanying her. Considering the new husband and the Marquis Dingyuan’s mansion weren’t people to be trifled with, everything went smoothly.
The people from the elder branch were also very polite.
Jiang Rou didn’t even look at the daughters of the house. She stood in front of Jiang Xuan and Lu Shi. “Father, Mother.”
Lu Yun’an: “Father, Mother.”
They stood together, like a perfect match.
Jiang Xuan and Lu Shi exchanged a glance. It seemed that the couple hadn’t argued on their wedding night, and they were getting along well.
As for Jinyue saying that Lu Yun’an was under their daughter’s control, they didn’t believe it. They knew their daughter’s personality, and they knew Lu Yun’an’s personality.
Jinyue, that girl, was smart and capable, good at everything, but she always had an inexplicable confidence in their daughter.
Jiang Xuan: “Good, good, good. It’s good to have you back!”
Lu Shi: “Let’s go inside.”
Jiang Rou followed the group of women, while Lu Yun’an was called to the study by Jiang Xuan.
After Jiang Rou sat down, she listened to everyone’s inquiries, not giving them any face.
He Shi, from the elder branch, smiled. “Now that I see you two are so affectionate, my guilt is lessened a little.”
Jiang Rou: “Our relationship is so good because I’m good. If I hadn’t been well-behaved, understanding, kind, and generous since I was young, who knows what our life would be like now. Grandmother, since I’m back home today, I won’t say much. When we have lunch, Elder Aunt and Second Sister, please don’t come. Elder Uncle probably won’t have time either, right?”
He Shi: “How are you going to explain this to your new husband?”
Jiang Rou: “Explain? My husband and I are deeply in love. He’ll only spoil me, he’ll understand. I’m sure my husband wouldn’t want to see you either.”
Everyone looked at each other.
Jiang Rou and Lu Shi excused themselves. After they went out, Lu Shi smiled. “Is what Jinyue said true?”
Jiang Rou: “What’s true?”
Lu Shi: “She said you have Lu Yun’an in your hand
