Inside an expensive apartment, Yu Li was curled up in his room, browsing online discussions about a recent fan meeting. As he watched various fan-edited videos of Lu Youze and Gu Xuanze showing affection toward each other, his expression grew darker and darker.
“Lu Youze.” Yu Li’s beautiful eyes were filled with cold ruthlessness. At this moment, he had completely shed his usual gentle and refined prince-like demeanor, replaced by a sharp and sinister aura. His fingers stroked the ring on his hand—a gift from Lu Youze on their anniversary. He had kept wearing it because he found it aesthetically pleasing. Now, however, his expression flickered unpredictably, making it impossible to read his thoughts. “Even if it’s trash I don’t want, I won’t let anyone else have it.”
With that, he punched the computer screen.
Despite his usually delicate appearance, he actually managed to crack the screen.
Yu Li didn’t bother looking at the damage. Instead, he casually lay on his bed, his expression shifting. He took out his phone and dialed a number. “Young Master, when do you plan to come back?”
Whatever was said on the other end made Yu Li chuckle.
“Then I’ll be waiting for your return.”
The drama Days of Roaming the Jianghu had gained immense attention. Fans and unauthorized photographers frequently sneaked into the filming set, severely disrupting production. Although the official social media accounts had urged fans to refrain from visiting the set, the warnings were largely ineffective.
Lu Youze usually spoiled his fans, accommodating most of their requests as long as they weren’t excessive. However, lately, his mood had visibly worsened. It wasn’t entirely his fault—he was a perfectionist when it came to acting, pouring two hundred percent of his energy into his craft. Yet, every time he carefully built up his emotions for a scene, the moment was interrupted—because yet another unauthorized photographer had snuck onto the set.
Anyone would be frustrated in his position. What made it even worse was that most of the intruding photographers were hired by shippers of him and Gu Xuanze, making it difficult for him to be too harsh.
Seeing his lover like this, Gu Xuanze naturally wouldn’t just sit by and do nothing. He swiftly took action, resolving the issue in no time. From then on, no unauthorized personnel managed to infiltrate the set.
With one problem solved, Lu Youze soon encountered another.
Days of Roaming the Jianghu was a grand wuxia ensemble drama, and as the protagonist, Lu Youze had numerous action scenes. Since he frequently had to fly around on wires, ride horses, leap off cliffs, and fall into water, these stunts posed significant risks.
For Lu Youze, this wasn’t a problem. He had always insisted on doing his own stunts, believing that only by experiencing them firsthand could he deliver a truly authentic performance.
He vividly remembered his first martial arts drama, when the director had mocked his movements as nothing but flashy, superficial tricks—completely unworthy of a legendary hero. As a result, all of his action scenes that didn’t show his face were replaced with a stunt double.
Lu Youze had refused to accept this humiliation and dedicated himself to training. Now, he executed every move with precision and grace. Even the stunt coordinators frequently praised him.
The past few days had primarily focused on dialogue scenes. But starting today, they would begin filming the action sequences. Lu Youze had even arrived at the set early to prepare. However, something felt off—despite the impending stunt scenes, the martial arts director still hadn’t discussed any choreography with him.
Most of the crew members on this production were top-tier professionals. The stunt coordinator, Yuan An, was a legendary figure known for his dedication—rumored to have once won a national martial arts championship. He was also known for his kindness and willingness to accommodate actors’ needs, making him well-liked by the cast.
Lu Youze didn’t believe Yuan An was intentionally targeting him. But with the action scenes about to begin, it made no sense that he hadn’t been given any movements to prepare.
Seated in a chair, flipping through his script, Lu Youze glanced over at Yuan An, who was currently demonstrating movements to Ou Yan, his upcoming scene partner. After some thought, Lu Youze decided to approach him for clarification.
Placing the script on a nearby chair, he waited for Yuan An to finish his demonstration before stepping forward.
“Teacher Yuan, I hope I’m not disturbing you?” Lu Youze asked with a polite smile.
Upon joining the production, Lu Youze had quickly realized that the original version of himself had offended quite a few people with his aloof personality. More than half of the crew harbored grudges against him. Fortunately, he had a powerful backer—his wealthy boyfriend—who spared him the trouble of having to navigate these relationships himself.
Yuan An seemed surprised that Lu Youze had approached him. After tidying up some scattered props, he finally responded.
“Mr. Lu, do you need something?”
“Teacher Yuan, I wanted to ask about my upcoming action scenes. What are the planned moves?” Lu Youze continued to smile.
“Pfft.” Beside them, Ou Yan suddenly laughed. His peach blossom eyes sparkled mischievously. “Film Emperor Lu, did you wake up confused? Or is our esteemed CEO Gu taking such good care of you?”
He deliberately emphasized the words such good care, his gaze carrying a hint of teasing ambiguity—making it easy for others to interpret his words in a suggestive manner.
Ou Yan was perhaps the only actor in the production who wasn’t afraid of giving Gu Xuanze a hard time. After all, he had powerful backing of his own. He had entered the entertainment industry purely for fun, and if things didn’t work out, he could simply return home and inherit billions.
That being said, he had been doing quite well in the industry, so there was no immediate need for him to fall back on his inheritance. Before Yu Li’s downfall, Ou Yan had been the second most popular idol after him. Unlike many traffic-driven celebrities, however, his acting skills were actually decent—though still not on par with someone like Lu Youze.
Just seeing Ou Yan gave Lu Youze a headache. He couldn’t help but recall their first encounter.
Due to personal reasons, Ou Yan—despite being the third male lead—had missed the opening ceremony of the drama and hadn’t attended the initial cast gatherings. As a result, their first meeting on set had been quite an experience.
That day, there was no filming scheduled. After checking in, everyone spent some time familiarizing themselves with the set before returning to their hotel. To prevent disruptions, Gu Corporation had gone all out, booking the entire hotel exclusively for the cast and crew.
Each person could choose their own room. Lu Youze had picked the quietest one on the top floor—naturally sharing it with Gu Xuanze.
In their room, Lu Youze leaned back in his chair, opening his laptop to search for any past conflicts between him and Ou Yan. Strangely, he found nothing. With no other choice, he turned to Gu Xuanze.
“Ah Ze, did I offend that Ou Yan somehow?” Lu Youze asked.
Gu Xuanze, who had been watching over him for years, would surely know everything about his past.
“Did he get under your skin today?” Gu Xuanze handed Lu Youze a glass of water before sitting behind him. After some thought, he replied, “Funny enough, Ou Yan actually started out as your little fanboy.”
“I find that hard to believe,” Lu Youze said, taking a sip of water, looking utterly unconvinced.
“He entered the entertainment industry because of you.” Gu Xuanze’s voice was calm as he gazed intently at Lu Youze. “You were always his goal. In every interview, he would sing your praises. Back then, your fans used to call him ‘the universe’s number one Lu Youze stan.’ He was your biggest fanboy.”
“That… is really hard to picture.”
Gu Xuanze unintentionally glanced at the computer screen, and his gaze suddenly turned colder.
Lately, Lu Youze had become very good at detecting Gu Xuanze’s emotional shifts, even on his usually expressionless face.
“Ah Ze, why are you unhappy?” Lu Youze asked directly.
Gu Xuanze shook his head, then wrapped his arms around Lu Youze’s waist and rested his head on his shoulder.
“Youze, I am your number one fan,” Gu Xuanze said in an even tone, devoid of any emotional fluctuations. “I’ve been watching you for a long time… Only you…”
Lu Youze found it strange that Gu Xuanze would suddenly say this—until he noticed that Gu Xuanze had been staring at the computer screen. The first result on the page he had just searched was a fanfiction about him and Ou Yan.
This was too…
“Boss Gu.” Lu Youze reversed their positions and grabbed the hands around his waist, teasing, “Are you jealous?”
After a while, a quiet “Mm” came from his shoulder.
This is unfair!
Lu Youze suddenly had the urge to kiss Gu Xuanze—and so he did.
“I never knew our big boss was such a jealous man,” Lu Youze murmured against his face after a heated kiss.
Gu Xuanze tightened his embrace. “I always have been. I just didn’t have the right to be before.”
Lu Youze’s heart skipped a beat. He didn’t know what Gu Xuanze had gone through all these years, but he wanted to make sure that his future was filled with happiness.
“You probably won’t have the chance to be jealous again,” Lu Youze said, forming an exaggerated heart shape with his fingers as he added a cheesy line straight out of a drama, “because my heart is now completely filled with you. No one is more important than you.”
Now, Gu Xuanze no longer had to watch from afar as the once aloof movie king stood out of reach. Living with Lu Youze every day, he discovered more sides to his lover—each one making him fall for him even more.
After holding each other for a while, Lu Youze got back to the topic at hand. “Ah Ze, based on what you said, Ou Yan should actually like me. So how did we end up being at odds?”
Gu Xuanze frowned slightly. Some unpleasant memories surfaced, but he quickly brushed them aside and continued as if nothing had happened. “Ou Yan has always been spoiled and arrogant. He speaks and acts impulsively. He thinks you should be a star in the sky and couldn’t stand how you indulged and protected Yu Li. Plus, he and Yu Li were already rivals, and the media constantly compared them.”
The name Yu Li was one that Gu Xuanze didn’t even want to mention, but it was impossible to talk about Lu Youze’s past without bringing him up.
“There was an interview once where a reporter asked for your thoughts on both of them.”
“I must’ve said something really harsh,” Lu Youze guessed, already knowing what the former Lu Youze’s personality was like.
“Mm.” Gu Xuanze nodded. “You said you’d never even heard of Ou Yan’s name before, and that Yu Li was one of a kind.”
That was even worse than Lu Youze had imagined.
The original Lu Youze was truly an entitled young master. He was a movie king, backed by the Lu family, so he never needed to cater to anyone and could say whatever he wanted.
After all, no matter what trouble he caused, there would always be a fool cleaning up his messes.
“Idiot.” Lu Youze looked at Gu Xuanze and scolded him.
Caught off guard, Gu Xuanze felt a little wronged. He leaned closer with a hint of appeasement in his voice. “You were the one who told me to say it.”
He had no idea why Lu Youze was scolding him.
“Alright, I get the picture now.”
Having said such harsh words, and given Ou Yan’s pride, it was already a miracle that they were working on the same drama. There was no way Ou Yan would give him a good attitude. While Lu Youze had given up on trying to repair their relationship, since Ou Yan played the third male lead and had many scenes with him, he just hoped the young master wouldn’t stir up trouble and would let the filming go smoothly.
“By the way, whose idea was it to cast him in this drama?” Lu Youze asked curiously. “It’s surprising that he agreed. He’s a strange one.”
“Director Wu chose him. He thought Ou Yan fit the character’s image very well,” Gu Xuanze replied. “Youze, you might not remember, but when you were being attacked by the entire internet, the first person to stand up and say you wouldn’t do such a thing was Ou Yan. Because of that, he was scolded by Yu Li’s fans for a long time. Later, no one talked about it anymore because his grandfather suppressed the whole matter.”
“I see.” Lu Youze nodded in understanding. “I should treat him a little better, then. I’ll try to ignore his sharp tongue.”
Then, he felt the grip around his waist tighten—his big boss was jealous again.
Back to the present, at the filming set, Ou Yan’s words carried an obvious implication, but Lu Youze told himself not to react.
“Ou Yan, what are you trying to say?” Lu Youze asked with a puzzled expression. “I don’t quite understand.”
“Movie King Lu truly lives up to his title. Your acting is so good that I’m ashamed of myself,” Ou Yan sneered coldly. His appearance was delicate and fox-like, the kind of beauty described as seductive in legends. Even his sarcastic smirk was inexplicably attractive. “Did President Gu not tell you? All your action scenes will be done by a stunt double. Big stars and small-time actors like us are just built differently. You even have over ten different stunt doubles for this drama. Even for something as simple as horse riding, you need a stand-in. Movie King Lu really is precious. But of course, as the future Mrs. Gu, that’s to be expected.”
Lu Youze frowned. There was too much information in those words, and for a moment, he completely ignored the underlying mockery.
“Ou Yan, explain yourself. What’s this about stunt doubles?”
