Chapter 13: She Lost Her Temper at the Young Master?
Long Ke’er smiled sweetly, “You don’t understand, Xu Chengzhou is so good to me!”
“He gave me water as soon as we met. When I was almost heatstroke as a group performer on the set, he let me rest in his nanny car. Later, he even got me a small role!”
Zhuang Jianxi asked, “So you’re chasing him now?”
“Um… not yet.”
Long Ke’er’s voice lost its energy as she said, “Actor Xu probably doesn’t have plans to date for now.”
Zhuang Jianxi was puzzled, “Then you have plans? I remember you used to say that dating was a very stupid thing.”
Long Ke’er, surprisingly, said, “People change, you know. Maybe I’ve been watching animals mate too much while I was abroad, and I’m getting a little…thirsty.”
Just thinking about the aloof yet gentle Actor Xu made her heart flutter. She couldn’t wait to be under him.
Zhuang Jianxi, “…”
Zhuang Jianxi knew Long Ke’er had a wide range of interests, and most things only held her attention for three minutes. She assumed this would be another fleeting fancy, and didn’t take it seriously.
Suddenly, Long Ke’er remembered Zhuang Jianxi’s situation, and her face turned red with anger.
“Xixi, I heard about what happened to you as soon as I got back. Is it true? Did the Zhuang family really give you away!?”
Zhuang Jianxi lowered her eyes, looking at the wine flowing in her glass, her expression dreamy yet slightly shattered.
Long Ke’er, furious, stood up and paced back and forth, her hair looking like a bird’s nest.
“That’s outrageous! How could the Zhuang family do this? What were your father and brother thinking? How could they be so heartless!”
Long Ke’er had already lost her temper at home when she learned about this. Knowing it was already a done deal, she realized even with her best efforts, she couldn’t possibly go against the powerful 裘 family, and that…devilish 裘 Da Shao.
After brainstorming, Long Ke’er suddenly sat down and grabbed Zhuang Jianxi’s hand. “Let’s run away together!”
“We’ll go abroad. I have many friends overseas…”
Zhuang Jianxi’s lips curled into a bitter smile. She shook her head and patted Long Ke’er’s hand reassuringly, “Ke’er, don’t overthink it. I’m fine now.”
Given her situation, not to mention the fact that it wouldn’t be suitable for her to travel around, she would probably be intercepted by the Zhuang family and Qiu Yixun’s people before even reaching the airport. Why bother with these pointless struggles?
“But…”
Long Ke’er knew her idea wasn’t practical, but she couldn’t bear to see her best friend being mistreated and abused. Her heart ached, and tears welled up in her eyes.
Zhuang Jianxi, her heart as still as a well, raised her hand and wiped away Long Ke’er’s tears with her fingertips, comforting her, “Don’t worry about me. Qiu Yixun isn’t as scary as you think.”
“He’s not scary? I’ve heard for a long time that he’s a cold-blooded, ruthless, and vicious person. He not only beat up his own brother, but also sent his own uncle to prison!”
“Anyone who opposes him or goes against him ends up miserable. Do you know how many companies he’s bankrupted, how many CEOs have been divorced and lost their families, and how many have jumped off buildings to commit suicide this year?”
Long Ke’er spoke with a sense of fear.
She had declared at the Long family that she would go to the 裘 family to get Zhuang Jianxi back, almost getting a mixed martial arts beatdown from her parents. They kept trying to instill in her the ruthlessness of Qiu Yixun, afraid that the Long family would be the next to suffer.
“It’s just hearsay. Now that things have come to this, there’s nothing more I can do. Just don’t worry about me.”
Zhuang Jianxi’s expression remained unchanged, clearly she had heard these rumors before. After all, she was a dead woman walking, there was nothing to be afraid of.
“It’s you who needs to live your life to the fullest. Do whatever you want, be free.”
Long Ke’er looked at Zhuang Jianxi with tear-filled eyes, wishing she could immediately take her poor friend far away.
When they returned to the Tengjingshan villa district, it was already nine o’clock at night.
As soon as Zhuang Jianxi entered the gate, she could feel a heavy, quiet, and strangely eerie atmosphere.
When she walked into the living room, she saw Song Butler and several maids standing stiffly.
Qiu Yixun’s tall figure sat on the sofa, his expression obscured, a half-smoked cigarette between his fingers. The smoke swirled, his whole body radiating a cold aura.
Song Butler, sharp-eyed, saw Zhuang Jianxi return and immediately went over to her, saying, “Madam, you’re finally back! The Master has been waiting for you for a long time.”
Zhuang Jianxi glanced at the man in the living room, her voice flat, “Waiting for me to do what?”
“The Master hasn’t had dinner yet. Madam, please go to the dining room. I’ll have them prepare the meal right away.”
Song Butler was about to turn around to make arrangements, but Zhuang Jianxi stopped him, “You go ahead and prepare dinner for your Master. I’ve already eaten.”
What? If Madam has already eaten, wouldn’t the Master be waiting in vain?
When the Master got off the phone, he told them to prepare dinner, but he waited until nine o’clock and still didn’t see her come back.
This young master was also stubborn, waiting patiently without allowing the servants to eat dinner first.
As a result, Butler Song and some of the servants harbored resentment towards Zhuang Jianxi.
“I’m tired, I’m going to rest.”
Zhuang Jianxi ignored Butler Song’s changing expression and went straight to the second floor.
As she passed the living room and stepped onto the stairs, the tall figure sitting on the sofa spoke coldly.
“Stop.”
Zhuang Jianxi stopped and lowered her gaze, but didn’t look at him.
Qiu Yixun stood up gracefully, walked towards her, and locked his deep gaze on the top of the girl’s head.
His voice was bland, “Where were you, why are you back so late?”
Zhuang Jianxi didn’t expect him to actually wait for her to come back for dinner, but someone irrelevant didn’t stir any waves in her heart.
“I went out with friends.”
Qiu Yixun moved a step closer, smelling the faint scent of alcohol on her. “Did you drink?”
Zhuang Jianxi looked at him, calmly admitting, “I did.”
Qiu Yixun narrowed his eyes, “With your health condition, can you drink?”
Zhuang Jianxi remained expressionless, “I know my own body.”
Qiu Yixun, “Knowing that, you shouldn’t drink.”
Zhuang Jianxi was getting impatient, “Are you done? I’m going back to my room to rest.”
Qiu Yixun’s tall figure blocked her path, his tone did not allow for rejection,”Have dinner with me.”
“I already ate!”
“I haven’t.”
He didn’t care about her wishes, grabbing her wrist and pulling her towards the dining room.
Zhuang Jianxi couldn’t break free, her face icy as he forced her into a seat.
Seeing this, Butler Song immediately instructed someone to bring the food that had been kept warm.
Qiu Yixun had the chef prepare a bowl of hangover soup and placed it in front of Zhuang Jianxi.
“Drink it, then you can go upstairs.”
Zhuang Jianxi reluctantly drank the soup in one gulp. Qiu Yixun was still eating leisurely.
She impatiently put down the bowl, about to get up, when the person beside her slowly threw another sentence at her.
“From now on, curfew is nine o’clock.”
Zhuang Jianxi pursed her lips, her thumb nail digging into her index finger, coldly saying, “What if I don’t come back on time?”
Qiu Yixun took a sip of red wine, his cold profile and sharp jawline, “Then don’t go out anymore.”
His voice was calm, “Stay at home obediently, fulfill your duty as a wife.”
Wife…
Zhuang Jianxi took a deep breath, slammed the door shut as she went upstairs.
The sound reverberated through the house, audible to everyone on the first floor.
Butler Song and the chef looked at each other, unable to believe that Zhuang Jianxi was actually snapping at the young master!
Qiu Yixun’s wine glass trembled, spilling two drops of red wine.
Angry again?
He waited so long without confronting her, and she slammed the door after just two sentences. Who spoiled her with such a terrible temper?
Qiu Yixun finished the wine in one gulp, slammed the glass onto the dining table, his expression not looking good. He had no appetite left for the rest of the food.
After staying in the living room for a while, he couldn’t hold back and went upstairs.
