Chapter 19: A Fool Treats Her Like a Treasure
For the next few days, Zhuang Jianxi didn’t see Qiu Yixun at the villa.
She didn’t know if he was staying out, or if he was working early and late, leaving for the company early and returning very late.
Anyway, Zhuang Jianxi hadn’t encountered him once. She felt a little relieved not having to face him directly.
She assumed her cut on him wasn’t serious, otherwise, how could he be bouncing around and entering Tengjing Mountain every day?
Taking this opportunity, Zhuang Jianxi rested for a few days, drawing at home, chatting with Long Ke’er, watching videos, and relieving her stress.
Long Ke’er had just returned to Longcheng for a few days and ran off to the deep forest in the suburbs of Lincheng to be an extra, chasing after Actor Xu.
“Xixi, you won’t believe it, the crew’s lunch boxes are actually pretty good, they have one meat, one vegetable, and one soup!”
Zhuang Jianxi looked at the video and saw the pathetic lunch box, silently turning the camera to her own lavish table.
Although Song Butler had recently arranged for her meals to be lighter, they were all made according to her taste, using the most expensive and nutritious ingredients to create delicious delicacies, filling an entire table.
Compared to Long Ke’er’s lunch box, it was like comparing a small witch to a big witch, causing her to instantly jump up and down in anger.
“Damn it! Zhuang Jianxi, you want to make me die of envy?”
“That’s too much, you’re eating a dozen dishes by yourself!”
“I can’t believe that devil Qiu Yixun actually feeds you so well!”
Zhuang Jianxi slowly sipped her matsutake chicken soup, scoffing, “Long Miss, who can you blame for wanting to suffer?”
Long Ke’er was jealous for a while, then started to devour the watery lunch box.
“Suffering through hardship, you can become a ‘superior person’, do you understand!”
“I don’t understand.”
Zhuang Jianxi really didn’t understand this love-brained woman, who made herself exhausted for a man and didn’t even get a decent meal.
Unlike her, with no love in her heart, naturally, there would be a fool who would treat her like a treasure.
At the Qiu Group, Qiu Yixun, who was so busy he didn’t even have time for lunch, felt a pain in his abdomen and couldn’t help but sneeze.
Long Ke’er watched Zhuang Jianxi’s sumptuous lunch, her appetite was stimulated, but she felt like she was chewing wax, her expression was a mixture of emotions, making her look very conflicted.
She had miscalculated, she should have hired an assistant to take care of her three meals a day, otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to survive.
Halfway through, she couldn’t eat anymore, Long Ke’er angrily threw the lunch box into the trash.
Filming in such a remote forest, even if she wanted to order takeout, no one would deliver it, but Long Miss, who was used to delicacies, would rather starve than compromise!
Long Ke’er kicked the small pebbles at her feet in annoyance.
Just then, Actor Xu’s assistant came over with a beautifully packaged lunch box.
“For me?” Long Ke’er was stunned.
The assistant nodded, “Yes, eat it, Brother Zhou asked me to bring it to you.”
Long Ke’er opened the lunch box and saw that it contained three meat dishes, one vegetable dish, and a large chicken leg, with more meat and vegetables than rice!
Long Ke’er’s originally listless eyes immediately lit up, her mood instantly brightening.
She held the lunch box and walked towards the simple table set up for Xu Chengzhou, with a bright smile.
“Xu Chengzhou, thank you for the lunch.”
Unlike other people, Long Ke’er didn’t call Actor Xu, Teacher Xu, Brother Zhou, etc., it was too formal, she just called him by name, making herself special.
Xu Chengzhou, dressed in a scholar’s robe, with long hair tied up, his face like jade, was calmly and quietly eating while reading the script.
Hearing this, he raised his head and looked at her, his tone as gentle as ever, “You’re welcome, eat it while it’s hot.”
Long Ke’er held the lunch box and sat down on the small stool next to him, and started eating directly.
The girl ate with gusto, devouring meat and vegetables with large bites, her cheeks puffed out. She squinted and smiled at you, her eyes curving into crescent moons.
She was wearing a maid’s outfit, with two cute little buns and butterfly bow hair ties. The simple outfit somehow made her look lively and elegant, like a noble lady.
Xu Chengzhou’s eyes flickered slightly, and he retracted his gaze.
Long Ke’er quickly finished her lunchbox, and then, going a step further, licked her lips. Her eyes were fixed on the drink in Xu Chengzhou’s hand…
“Xu Chengzhou, can I have a sip…”
Xu Chengzhou didn’t refuse. He directly handed her a new drink.
Long Ke’er was satisfied. After gulping it down, she felt revitalized.
When filming resumed in the afternoon, she was particularly energetic. During the scene where they were traveling to the capital, the maid actually knocked her master off his horse. She was even more attentive than the script described.
When a courtesan tried to seduce “scholar” Xu Chengzhou, Long Ke’er squeezed in and launched into a verbal attack, spitting out a torrent of words.
The script originally had some physical contact, like a finger stroking a face seductively. But before it could even touch him, Long Ke’er slapped it away. The actress was both hurt and angry.
Strangely, the director thought this feisty little maid was acting authentically. He liked the effect and let her improvise.
After the filming, Xu Chengzhou’s assistant and the crew members chatted and joked for a while, then teased Xu Chengzhou, who was taking a break.
“Brother Zhou, does that little actress named Long Ke’er have a crush on you? Ever since she’s been here, she hasn’t let you have any intimate scenes.”
Xu Chengzhou unscrewed his thermos and took a sip of water. Hearing this, he turned his head and looked at Long Ke’er, who was chatting and laughing with others nearby.
Long Ke’er had a cute and silly look, her smile was innocent and sweet. Most of the crew liked her. She would often walk around and come back with a bunch of snacks.
Xu Chengzhou said calmly, “Just a kid playing around.”
The assistant shook his head, “I don’t think so. At the airport, she was eagerly calling you ‘husband’ and followed you all the way to the set to be an extra. Isn’t that just to get close to you?”
With Long Ke’er’s superior figure and appearance, if she wanted to, she could definitely find a company or boss willing to invest in her, give her good resources, and nurture her. She didn’t need to be running around blindly by herself.
Xu Chengzhou fell silent, his deep gaze filled with contemplation.
Just then, Long Ke’er ran over again, holding a big, red apple in her arms. She smiled and handed it to him.
“Xu Chengzhou, here you go!”
Xu Chengzhou stared at her. The girl’s bright black eyes were filled with sincerity and purity.
He smiled slightly, but didn’t take it. “You eat it.”
The smile on Long Ke’er’s face dimmed slightly, and her voice was a little dejected. “You don’t like apples?”
“I saved the biggest and reddest one for you.”
Who could bear to disappoint this little firecracker?
Xu Chengzhou hesitated for a moment, then still took it. “Thank you.”
The assistant was slightly surprised and opened his mouth. Xu Chengzhou rarely accepted things from others. Not to mention that he even took her lunchbox earlier. It seemed like this Long Ke’er was a bit special.
Long Ke’er was the type who would shine when given a little sunshine. Her smile immediately returned, and she acted familiarly, “Are you free later? You gave me your lunchbox at noon, so I want to treat you to dinner tonight!”
There were many people who wanted to treat Xu Chengzhou to dinner every day, but Xu Chengzhou couldn’t possibly agree to every one.
He regained his usual calm and detached expression, “No need, you should go home early.”
With that, Xu Chengzhou left the filming location with his assistant and walked towards their business car.
Long Ke’er was a little disappointed, but she hadn’t really had high hopes to begin with. After all, Xu the Movie Emperor wasn’t that easy to chase.
But today wasn’t a complete loss, right? She had a free meal!
