“The Cannon Fodder Who Dies at the Start is Actually a Max-Level Retired Big Shot” Chapter 11

Chapter 11: His Intent Deserves Death

“Brother Chu, you and Wan-dage…” Chu Xihen was about to push the fish and Wan Ming’s corpse into the river when Bai Jinli’s voice came from behind.

Chu Xihen turned his head and saw that Bai Jinli wasn’t alone; he was supporting Lou Su, who looked sickly but was still handsome.

He raised his eyebrows in surprise.

Lou Su had woken up so quickly. As expected of one of the male protagonists, even the time it took for his powers to automatically upgrade was half as long as others.

“What happened to Wan-dage? Did you lure this fish here, Brother Chu?” Bai Jinli saw that Wan Ming’s head was in the big fish’s mouth.

Now that Wan Ming was dead, the fish wasn’t moving either.

Chu Xihen took two steps back, using his actions to indicate that it had nothing to do with him.

He didn’t care about Bai Jinli’s words, which seemed like inquiries but were actually slanders, and just kept staring at Lou Su.

Lou Su was also looking at Chu Xihen. Then, he took his hand off Bai Jinli’s shoulder and swayed over.

Although he was awake, he was too weak, and every step was difficult. He finally reached Chu Xihen and collapsed forward.

Chu Xihen subconsciously reached out and caught him.

“Heh…” Lou Su chuckled softly, his deep voice saying in Chu Xihen’s ear, “I thought you wouldn’t catch me.”

Chu Xihen stared at Lou Su without saying anything. Lou Su steadied himself on Chu Xihen, then raised his hand and wiped away the blood splattered on his face.

For no other reason than that Chu Xihen looked too alluring like this, and he didn’t want others to see it.

“Lou-ge, Brother Chu, come quickly! There’s something in the river!” Bai Jinli frowned as he saw the two hugging for a long time without separating.

Chu Xihen had just killed the big fish, and its blood would indeed attract more mutated creatures from the river. So, he lifted Lou Su’s arm and put it over his shoulder, dragging him into the woods.

As soon as they left, three big fish emerged from the river, dragging the dead fish corpse along with Wan Ming into the water.

Soon, a cloud of blood mist rose from the river, spreading rapidly.

“Brother Chu, what exactly happened? Did you kill that big fish?” Bai Jinli must have realized that his previous question was ambiguous, so he changed his wording.

Chu Xihen supported Lou Su, walking not too fast. Lou Su was also turning his head to look at him, wanting to know the answer to this question.

“Wan Ming used himself as bait, using his head to restrict the fish’s movements, so I had the chance to ambush the big fish. Wan Ming didn’t even want his life to let everyone have a change of taste. It’s just a pity that the big fish couldn’t be dragged ashore in the end.” Chu Xihen said with a sincere face.

Bai Jinli’s expression was a little strained: Dage, do you even hear what you’re saying?

Someone like Wan Ming would use himself as bait? And use his head to restrict the fish’s movements? This illogical reason could only come from Chu Xihen.

Who would believe that?

“I believe you.” Just as Bai Jinli’s thoughts were lingering in his mind, he heard Lou Su’s deep and pleasant voice.

Bai Jinli: “???”

Since Lou Su had said so, if he continued to question Chu Xihen, he was afraid it would annoy Lou Su. He wisely skipped over the matter of Wan Ming being bitten to death by the big fish.

He leaned to Lou Su’s right, “Brother Chu, you don’t have powers. It must be difficult to support Lou-ge alone. Let me help you!”

After speaking, without waiting for Chu Xihen and Lou Su to agree, he reached out to lift Lou Su’s arm.

Lou Su dodged, not letting him touch him. “Thank you, Mr. Bai. I troubled you to help me over here because I was afraid Xihen would encounter danger near the river. Now that he’s supporting me, it’s fine.”

This sentence both explained to Chu Xihen why he had let Bai Jinli support him earlier and drew a line between him and Bai Jinli.

Chu Xihen looked at Lou Su strangely.

What was going on? Because he, the cannon fodder, hadn’t died successfully, he had become a part of the two male protagonists’ romance?

“Okay, then it’s hard work for Brother Chu.” Bai Jinli wisely distanced himself from Lou Su and Chu Xihen.

But his delicate eyebrows furrowed unconsciously.

Wan Ming and Han Chong had clearly told him that Lou Su hated Chu Xihen, that the latter was shamelessly pestering him.

Now it seemed that wasn’t the case?

Ever since Lou Su saw Chu Xihen, he had been actively approaching, while Chu Xihen was indifferent, more like the one being pestered.

“Boss, you’re back! Chu Xihen, let go of the boss! Where’s Wan Ming?” As they neared the camp, a group of people stood waiting in front.

The first to rush over was Lou Su’s other lackey, Han Chong.

His tone even carried a hint of complaining that Wan Ming didn’t know what he was doing, how could he let Chu Xihen get so close to Lou Su in front of Bai Jinli?

Just as Han Chong was about to step forward and push Chu Xihen away, Zhou Quan also ran over from afar.

“Brother, you’re finally back! They all said there were monsters by the river. Are you okay? Did that idiot Wan bully you?” Zhou Quan, as if he didn’t see Chu Xihen supporting a tall and handsome Lou Su, grabbed Chu Xihen’s free arm and checked him up and down.

Lou Su narrowed his eyes slightly, staring intently at Zhou Quan’s every move.

“Boy, are you looking for death? Who are you calling an idiot?” Han Chong was tall and burly. With a casual shove, Zhou Quan almost fell to the ground.

“Wan Ming is dead,” Chu Xihen said at this moment, silencing the noisy scene.

“What did you say? Who’s dead? If you dare talk nonsense, I’ll tear your mouth apart!” Han Chong let go of Zhou Quan and pointed at Chu Xihen.

If Lou Su hadn’t been present, Han Chong would have already made a move.

Seeing Han Chong so agitated, Bai Jinli gently tugged at his clothes. “Brother Han, calm down. Brother Chu is right. Wan-dage is really dead, bitten to death by a mutated big fish by the river.”

Chu Xihen felt like he was starting to not recognize how to write the characters for “dage” after hearing Bai Jinli use the term “dage” three times in this one sentence.

“Um, Mr. Bai, may I interrupt? May I ask how old you are this year?” Was there something wrong with calling everyone “dage”?

Bai Jinli could clearly feel the mockery in Chu Xihen’s words, but he didn’t get angry and still replied with a smile, “I’m twenty-three this year.”

Lou Su said, “Xihen is only twenty-two this year.”

Meaning that from today onwards, Bai Jinli had one less “dage.”

A trace of embarrassment flashed across Bai Jinli’s face, but he still forced himself to say, “Really? I was just blind and didn’t see it.”

Chu Xihen smiled. “I saw it.”

After he finished speaking, he supported Lou Su forward, completely ignoring Han Chong and the other ability users, only turning back to say to Zhou Quan, “Keep up.”

Zhou Quan was still a little dazed, but his reaction was still there. He quickly got up from the ground and ran two steps to catch up with Chu Xihen.

“Brother, that Wan really died? Retribution came so quickly!” Zhou Quan was still a little incredulous.

Chu Xihen said, “Yes, he sacrificed his young life so that everyone could have a bite of fish. Let’s all silently mourn for him in our hearts for two seconds when we eat fish in the future!”

This frivolous attitude made Lou Su take another look at him.

In reality, with Chu Xihen’s thin and weak body, even if Wan Ming had really controlled the mutated fish, he might not have been able to kill it.

Moreover, from what he knew, Wan Ming wasn’t that kind of person at all.

If Wan Ming and Chu Xihen encountered danger, his first thought would be to push Chu Xihen out to buy himself time to escape. He would never put himself in danger.

But the scene he saw when he arrived at the river was indeed as Chu Xihen said: the big fish was biting Wan Ming, and Chu Xihen killed the big fish.

There must be some hidden secrets that weren’t visible on the surface, but since Chu Xihen wasn’t willing to say, he wouldn’t ask.

He believed that Chu Xihen wouldn’t actively harm Wan Ming, but Wan Ming deliberately took Chu Xihen to the river; his intent deserves death!
