Chapter 10
Lu Yun’an was in the study room with Jiang Rou in reviewing the account books. To be more precise, Jiang Rou was in the study eating snacks while watching him review the account books.
Lu Yun’an’s speed was incredibly fast. Jiang Rou watched for a while, then picked up the abacus and clattered it a few times, realizing that Lu Yun’an hadn’t made a single mistake.
Jiang Rou said, “These are the dowry from the eldest branch of the Jiang family.”
Lu Yun’an understood why they were given as dowry, and both he and Jiang Rou knew the reason.
Jiang Rou continued, “I don’t plan on using any of the managers of these estates or the shopkeepers of these stores.”
Lu Yun’an nodded. If Jiang Rou wanted to use people from the eldest branch of the Jiang family, Lu Yun’an wouldn’t be comfortable with it.
Wouldn’t that be like openly letting people send spies to you, and you wouldn’t deal with them?
The weather was good today, and Jiang Rou was in a good mood. They had their dinner in the courtyard.
Spring evenings were comfortable.
After dinner, Jiang Rou leaned on the stone table, while Lu Yun’an ran back to the study, saying he was going to help Jiang Rou organize the account books.
Jin Yue felt that the young master was a little strange today. “Madam, what’s wrong with the young master?”
Jiang Rou replied, “He’s a blue-robed gentleman.”
Jin Yue was stunned for a moment, then laughed, “Madam and the young master, how could you not be a perfect match?”
Jiang Rou stayed outside for a while longer, then slowly went to the study. Lu Yun’an wasn’t fooling around at all. Jiang Rou stood outside the study window and watched him.
Jiang Rou asked, “Husband, did you give me the abacus?”
Lu Yun’an replied, “Yes, it’s yours, your abacus.”
Jiang Rou said, “Then I’ll keep it in the study.”
What? She wanted to keep the abacus in the study? Did she want to use it to settle old scores with him the next time she saw it?
Lu Yun’an said, “This one isn’t very good to use.”
As he spoke, Lu Yun’an had already put away the abacus and gave Jiang Rou a smile.
The youthful and handsome smile. Jiang Rou looked at him for a while, but didn’t argue with him.
When it was time to rest, Jiang Rou dawdled. Lu Yun’an had already fallen asleep, and she didn’t want to disturb him, so she went inside and lay down herself.
Jiang Rou wanted to say that she had forgotten to put out the light, but when she turned to speak, she saw Lu Yun’an already asleep, so she got up again.
She put out the light, and then went back to the bed. This time, she moved even slower. Finally, she lay down and felt comfortable.
The next day, a light rain fell outside.
The spring rain gave Jiang Rou a soft feeling, and she loved it.
The willow branches in the courtyard drooped slightly, swaying gently in the light rain and wind.
Jiang Rou gave all the account books she needed to review to Lu Yun’an.
Jiang Rou was quite surprised. Lu Yun’an’s skills in this area were amazing.
Jiang Rou looked at Lu Yun’an from time to time. Lu Yun’an didn’t dare to take a break. Heaven knows, he had never worked so hard in his life, even at the academy!
Jiang Rou said, “It’s raining.”
Lu Yun’an replied, “Yes, it’s raining.”
If he hadn’t married Jiang Rou, he wouldn’t be reviewing account books for her now!
Jiang Rou said, “This kind of weather is perfect for a hot pot.”
Lu Yun’an threw the account books aside, “Let’s have it for lunch. It will be too hot to eat hot pot when the weather gets warmer.”
Jiang Rou nodded.
Lu Yun’an happily said, “So it’s settled, we’re having hot pot for lunch.”
Lu Yun’an was working diligently in the study. After a while, he pushed the abacus aside, feeling a little confused.
What was he doing?
Lu Yun’an looked up and saw Jiang Rou talking to Jin Yue by the window.
Jiang Rou said, “We’re having hot pot for lunch, order extra fish balls.”
Jin Yue replied, “Yes, Miss.”
Lu Yun’an added, “I want more shrimp balls.”
Jin Yue said, “Yes.”
After finishing their conversation with Jiang Rou, Jin Yue instructed someone to prepare the hot pot for Jiang Rou and Lu Yun’an in the kitchen.
The rain had been falling for a long time and hadn’t stopped.
For lunch, Jiang Rou simply had the hot pot in the study. After all, there wasn’t anything important in the study, and with the windows open and the wind blowing outside, eating hot pot in the study wouldn’t fill it with the smell.
Actually, Jiang Rou was just too lazy to move.
Lu Yun’an didn’t have such rules. Even if Jiang Rou wanted to put the hot pot on the desk, he wouldn’t mind.
Jiang Rou was in a good mood.
Firstly, she liked the weather today. Secondly, they were having hot pot. And thirdly, it was because of Lu Yun’an.
A husband like Lu Yun’an was better than those who always talked about rules and acted pretentious.
The two of them happily enjoyed their hot pot in the study. After they were full and satisfied, they had someone clear the table.
Jiang Rou was too lazy to move. She said, “I’m going back.”
Lu Yun’an looked at the account books on the table and didn’t bother to tidy them up. He left them there and followed Jiang Rou back.
Jiang Rou stood on the corridor and looked out for a while.
The rain was getting heavier now, and the sound of the raindrops falling was clear and crisp.
Jiang Rou asked, “Do you think it will rain tomorrow?”
Lu Yun’an looked up at the sky, “I don’t think so.”
Jiang Rou was a little disappointed. “Oh.”
Lu Yun’an said, “Maybe it will?”
Jiang Rou replied, “……..”
She ignored Lu Yun’an and continued walking slowly forward.
Lu Yun’an was confused. Did Jiang Rou want it to rain tomorrow or not?
After walking a few steps, Lu Yun’an remembered what Jiang Cheng had said to him when he accompanied Jiang Rou back to her family’s home.
“My sister likes rainy days. She likes to sleep on rainy days.”
“………”
Lu Yun’an thought for a moment, “I think it might rain tomorrow morning.”
Jiang Rou asked, “What if it doesn’t rain?”
Lu Yun’an was so angry that he trembled, “Jiang Rou!”
Jiang Rou said, “I was just asking. Why are you yelling at me?”
Yell at her? Who dared to yell at her?
Lu Yun’an said, “I mean, I think it will rain tomorrow. If it doesn’t rain tomorrow, we’ll sun our books.”
Jiang Rou said, “Oh, okay.”
Lu Yun’an tried to speak gently, “Yes, that’s right.”
It rained all night, and the weather cleared up early the next morning.
Jiang Rou didn’t forget to tell Jin Yue to sun her books. Jin Yue hesitated, as if there was something she couldn’t say in front of Lu Yun’an.
Jiang Rou said, “Husband, go out for a bit.”
Lu Yun’an pointed at himself, and Jiang Rou nodded at him.
Okay, okay, he’ll go out!
Jiang Rou asked, “What do you want to say?”
Jin Yue replied, “Madam, most of the books you brought are romance novels.”
It was fine in her own courtyard, but this was with the young master. What would the young master think if he saw them?
Jiang Rou said, “Sun them, it’s fine.”
Jin Yue was quick to act. Soon, Jiang Rou’s books were spread out in the courtyard to dry. Lu Yun’an saw the books in the courtyard and was stunned for a moment. Then he quickly walked over and picked up one to look at it.
“The Tyrant Prince and His Beloved Wife”?
Jin Yue secretly watched Lu Yun’an’s expression. Seeing that Lu Yun’an was relaxed and happy, she was stunned for a moment before continuing her work.
Li Yu, the young master of the Li Minister’s family, had someone deliver a letter to Lu Yun’an the day before he went to admire the flowers, worried that Lu Yun’an would forget.
This shows what kind of life Li Yu was living now.
Jiang Rou didn’t know what was going on in Lu Yun’an’s mind. She just felt that Lu Yun’an seemed to be in a good mood.
She was also in a good mood. She was definitely in a good mood to go out and play. She didn’t need this young master from the Li family to remind her. She would go with Lu Yun’an anyway.
The next day, Jiang Rou got up very early, which was rare. She saw Lu Yun’an still asleep and didn’t wake him up. This wasn’t a tea ceremony or a return visit. There was no need.
Jiang Rou took her time. She was almost ready when Lu Yun’an finally came out.
Lu Yun’an was quick. It took Jiang Rou almost half an hour to get ready, while Lu Yun’an was done in a moment. Lu Yun’an waited for Jiang Rou for a while, and then they had breakfast together.
After breakfast, they went out together.
Jiang Rou was in a good mood and was very kind to Lu Yun’an. This was the kind of life she wanted to have after marriage.
They walked side by side, and the tassels on the hairpins Jiang Rou wore swayed slightly as she walked.
Jiang Rou looked at the small carp in the pond, “The carp here seem to have gotten fatter.”
Lu Yun’an couldn’t tell if the carp were fatter or not, but he looked at them and nodded. If she said they were fatter, then they were fatter.
When they reached the outside of the mansion, Lu Yun’an looked at the carriage and quickly stepped onto the carriage step. As he was about to enter the carriage, he remembered what happened when he accompanied Jiang Rou back to her family’s home. He hesitated for a moment, then turned to look at Jiang Rou.
Jiang Rou had already stepped onto the carriage step herself. She asked in confusion, “What are you doing standing there?”
Lu Yun’an understood. This wasn’t something he should do, right? It was a matter of whether Jiang Rou was in a good mood or not. It might also be because the last time they went back to her family’s home, she thought he was doing something wrong as her husband. This time, they were going out to play. She didn’t even think about whether he should help her get into the carriage when they were going out to play.
Lu Yun’an said, “I was thinking.”
Jiang Rou replied, “Think about it later.”
Jiang Rou added, “Sometimes I think too, and it makes me feel a little melancholy.”
“Melancholy,” she said. “What are you melancholy about?”
Jiang Rou replied, “If you’re feeling melancholy, or if your thoughts are low, I would definitely try to cheer you up. But since the Emperor granted us this marriage, I haven’t gone out to play.”
Lu Yun’an said, “My mood is bad, and you still plan to cheer me up?”
Jiang Rou nodded, “Yes, isn’t that right?”
Lu Yun’an said, “Yes, there’s nothing wrong with that.”
Jiang Rou entered the carriage, and Lu Yun’an followed closely behind. The carriage was spacious, with each of them sitting on one side and a table in the middle.
Lu Yun’an asked, “Do you like going out to play?”
Jiang Rou replied, “Don’t you like going out to play? It’s so much fun to go out and play.”
The carriage traveled towards the outskirts of the city. The peach blossoms were in full bloom recently, and many people were going out to see them.
When they reached the vicinity of the peach blossom forest, Lu Yun’an saw Li Yu and his wife, Han Shi, from afar. He pointed them out to Jiang Rou, “That’s Li Yu, and that’s his wife, Han Shi.”
Li Yu looked decent enough, and his wife, Han Shi, looked plump and seemed easy to get along with.
Jiang Rou and Lu Yun’an got out of the carriage. Jiang Rou seemed to remember something and said, “I think I’ve seen him before.”
Lu Yun’an asked, “Who?”
Jiang Rou replied, “Li Yu.”
Li Yu looked at Jiang Rou upon hearing this. After a while, he said, “I remember now!”
