“Why did you agree so readily? I thought you didn’t want to go back temporarily,” Su Yu teased Wang Jinhe.
“If Gu Xiruo doesn’t want me to go back, I’ll insist on going. I wonder how she’ll react when she sees me there. Maybe she’ll be so worried that she can’t sleep?” Wang Jinhe raised an eyebrow, looking at Su Yu with a playful smile.
Su Yu’s brows slightly furrowed at the remark. “Did they come bother you again when I wasn’t around?”
“They did indeed come, not only Gu Sheng but even Gu Xiruo’s fiancĂ© showed up.” After a couple of times, she found it annoying and didn’t want to talk to these people.
“And then?” Su Yu’s gaze turned slightly cold. These people seemed incorrigible.
“After getting a beating, they haven’t come back. But I think, given Gu Xiruo’s personality, she probably won’t let it go so easily.” The temporary calm was just the precursor to an impending storm.
“In that case, we do need to make a trip back to the capital and take Hong Yi with us. I guess our royal siblings are missing the child,” Su Yu remarked.
“Agreed.”
While the two were conversing, Qi Feng went back to inform those interested in buying watermelons that they wouldn’t be sold temporarily, and the prices wouldn’t be too low either.
Hearing the price at which the vegetables were being sold, the servants buying them began to wonder if the sellers had gone mad.
As the sky gradually darkened, Su Yu, accompanied by Wang Jinhe and the two children, headed back home, taking along the watermelons they had picked.
Upon arrival, they heard Hong Yi crying, and Wang Jinhe hurried to the other side to comfort the child.
Upon entering the house, he saw Gu Jiuning holding a two-month-old baby.
His footsteps paused for a moment as he looked at the baby in Gu Jiuning’s arms, his expressions somewhat bewildered.
“What are you looking at? My mother gave birth to a son two months ago, named Yu Mosun, the Little Demon King.” Compared to Hong Yi, Yu Mosun was indeed quite a handful.
When Su Yu left, Gu Jiuning was already several months pregnant, so having a child was not unexpected.
Although he hadn’t seen it before, suddenly seeing a newborn left him a bit at a loss.
When Hong Yi saw Su Yu, he reached out to be held, his eyes still teary. With his pouting mouth, he seemed ready to cry at any moment. Su Yu reached out and picked him up, asking, “Why are you crying?”
“Run,” Hong Yi replied.
“Run?”
“Daddy, Hong Yi means that we won’t run away when you’re here,” Xiao Bao acted as a translator on the side.
Su Yu’s mouth twitched. He didn’t expect that to be the meaning.
“If he can’t see Jinhe ,Xiao Bao, and the two kids all day until it gets dark, Hong Yi will cry non-stop,” the old lady said, watching Hong Yi quiet down in Su Yu’s arms with some emotion.
Su Yu stared at Hong Yi and noticed the child staring back at him. The two of them locked eyes like that, and it made Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but laugh.
In the end, it was Hong Yi who turned away first.
Seeing the watermelon in Wang Jinhe’s hands, he waved his little hand and said, “Melon, eat.”
“Have you grown teeth? Only wanting to eat watermelon,” Su Yu asked, looking at Hong Yi with a hint of disdain.
“There are two on top and one on the bottom. Don’t be fooled by just three teeth; he can still eat watermelon quickly. If watermelon juice gets on his clothes, he’ll cry about it,” the old lady said. Even at such a young age, he seemed to be a cleanliness fanatic.
Su Yu pinched Hong Yi’s cheek and bent down to look at his mouth. “Let me see.”
“Bad,” Hongyi shook his head left and right, trying to get Su Yu’s hand away. At the same time, he pouted and said, “Naughty.”
Wang Jinhe reached out and pulled Su Yu’s hand down. “Why are you like Xiao Bao, always teasing Hong Yi? Be careful; if his dad finds out, he might scold you.”
“Daddy.” Hong Yi called out, turning his head left and right to look, but he didn’t see anything.
Seeing Hong Yi’s puzzled look, Su Yu reached out and rubbed his little head. “Miss your dad? In a while, I’ll take you to see your mom and sister, alright?”
“Go back.” Hong Yi grabbed Su Yu’s hair and pulled hard.
Seeing Hong Yi like this, Wang Jinhe considered and suggested, “How about this time we send watermelons over and take the kids back for a visit?”
“Sounds good.” It would be a good opportunity to visit Gu Xiruo.
See what she and Xie Yang are up to.
“I want to go too.” Xiao Bao quickly spoke up when he heard Su Yu and the others talking about taking Hong Yi back.
“Brother wants to go too.”
“Don’t worry, we’ll definitely take you guys. What’s the rush?” Su Yu reached out and rubbed Xiao Bao’s head.
When Su Xi heard that they were going back, he considered and said, “Since you’re going back, take me with you. It’s a good time to update the family tree for Xiao Bao.”
“Sure.”
After having dinner at the Yu family’s house, Wang Jinhe and Su Yu took the three children home.
Leaning against the door frame, Su Yu watched Wang Jinhe put the three children to sleep. He expressed some dissatisfaction, “They’re already this old, and they still don’t know how to sleep by themselves?”
“Why do they still need their Mother to coax them to sleep?”
“They’re already very well-behaved kids. Aren’t you satisfied? Once you experience our little demon king at home, you’ll appreciate how good these three are.” Wang Jinhe spoke while covering the three children with blankets.
She quietly walked out and closed the door.
When Wang Jinhe went to wash up, Su Yu leaned on the bed, waiting for her.
As soon as she walked to the bedside, Su Yu pulled her over and embraced her, “Missed me?”
In response, Wang Jinhe tilted her head and raised an eyebrow, looking at Su Yu, “Well, do you believe me when I say I didn’t?”
“Hmm, try it, and you’ll know whether you missed me or not.”
The result of not seeing each other for a long time was that the next morning, even when it was bright outside, Wang Jinhe was still sleeping.
Su Yu spent the morning studying with the three children, playing with them, and didn’t disturb Wang Jinhe.
It wasn’t until noon that Su Yu went to wake her up.
She reached out and pulled her from the bed, holding her in her arms, “Wake up.”
“Go away, I don’t want to talk to you.” Wang Jinhe opened her eyes and glared at Su Yu, feeling annoyed.
This guy was really too much.
Su Yu reached out, pulled her up, and held her in his arms, rubbing her shoulder, “Wife, I haven’t seen you for a long time.”
Outside of improving his strength, he couldn’t stop thinking about Wang Jinhe and Xiao Bao.
In this life, the only ones he cared so much about were the mother and son.
Wang Jinhe leaned against Su Yu in silence, her eyes closed, not wanting to say much.
Looking at her like this, Su Yu lowered his head and kissed her cheek, “Still don’t want to get up?”
“Mmm.” She felt uncomfortable all over and didn’t feel like getting up.
“Then eat, and you can go back to sleep later. After a few days, I’ll have Yuan Bao and the others pick the watermelons. When can we harvest the rice?”
When Su Yu asked about the rice, Wang Jinhe suddenly opened her eyes, “I almost forgot about that. According to the current situation, it will take at most another month and a half to harvest. When it’s time, the magistrate and others will come to inspect the yield. Let’s wait until after the rice is harvested before returning to the capital.”
Harvesting in autumn was more important than going to the capital early.
“Alright, I’ll follow your lead. Let Yuan Bao and the others pick the ripe watermelons and send them back to the capital. Also, we will let my big brother know,” Su Ju said. The emperor would naturally be informed.
“That works.”
A few days later, Yuan Bao led a group of people to pick the watermelons. They were people who had come to pick them last year, so they knew how to do it.
