Chapter 25: Because of Su Chenxi
The bustling scene just moments ago was now empty. Jin Yue stood up from behind a large stone in the woods, quickly grabbing her backpack and running in the opposite direction.
The most dangerous place is often the safest. As soon as the man had taken out the photo, Jin Yue knew they weren’t here for anything good, and she had already prepared.
So, while the group was gathered around looking at the photo, she hurriedly grabbed her bag and hid.
She knew with her short legs, she wouldn’t be able to outrun those boys, so she had to hide here, hoping they’d think she ran forward when they couldn’t find her. That way, they would go after her, and she could escape while they were distracted.
Thank goodness, the situation unfolded just as she had predicted.
However, this trick wouldn’t work for long. They would soon figure it out, so she had to leave as soon as possible.
Jin Yue took a detour and exited the school through the east gate. The restaurant where she was meeting Qian Shasha was nearby, so she rushed over to keep her appointment.
She ran to the restaurant, breathing heavily from both the rush and the earlier escape. She hadn’t fully recovered yet. Her forehead was sweating, and her hair was stuck to her cheek. As soon as she sat down, she grabbed the tea on the table and began drinking to calm down.
Qian Shasha stared at Jin Yue, who looked like she had just escaped from a disaster, and said in astonishment, “What happened to you? You’re still a beauty; you should take care of your image!”
Jin Yue continued to drink the tea at a frantic pace, almost choking as she drank too quickly.
After finally quenching her thirst, she responded, “Who cares about image? Escaping with my life is more important!”
What Happened?
Jin Yue then told Qian Shasha everything about the situation.
“Qi Tian? How did you get involved with him? He’s the troublemaker at our school! Everyone calls him Big Brother Qi. Normally, he’s a big guy; I wouldn’t think he’d bother with a girl like you. Think carefully—did you offend him in any way?”
Big Brother Qi? That name sounded familiar. Where had she heard it before? Jin Yue pondered.
“I remember now!” Jin Yue suddenly slapped the table, feeling excited. She had figured it out!
That day when she was talking to Su Chenxi in the classroom, a girl next to them had said, “Su Goddess, you’re even daring to bully her? Be careful, Big Brother Qi will find out and cause trouble for you.” So, the issue must be because of Su Chenxi!
Qian Shasha, feeling a sense of curiosity, urged her, “Come on, tell me more!”
Thinking about the recent incidents between the Qian family and Su Chenxi, Jin Yue pursed her lips, deciding not to tell Qian Shasha the whole story. “It’s nothing, I can handle it.”
“You’re making me curious now! Don’t tease me like this; you’re going to keep me up all night with suspense.”
“It really is nothing, Shasha. Please, don’t pry anymore. Tell me about your stuff instead.”
“Stop! Don’t change the subject,” Qian Shasha said, thinking for a moment, and then asked, “Is this because of Su Chenxi?”
Jin Yue’s eyes slightly widened, and Qian Shasha caught it immediately, confirming her suspicion: “I knew it! Did you cause trouble with Su Chenxi? Did Qi Tian come after you because of him?”
“You can’t lie to me anymore, I know you too well. After what happened last time, do you think I’d still be reckless like that?”
Well, now that it was exposed, Jin Yue realized there was no need to hide it anymore. If she didn’t say anything, Shasha would probably find out on her own, and that would cause even more trouble.
“I think Qi Tian must like Su Chenxi, but Su Chenxi and I already agreed to stay out of each other’s way last time, so I really don’t know where I offended her,” Jin Yue said, feeling quite confused. She hadn’t done anything to provoke the female lead.
“I knew it, Su Chenxi is not a good person,” Qian Shasha said angrily. She was worried about Jin Yue. If someone like Qi Tian was targeting her, what would happen in the future? She couldn’t just quit school.
The two of them fell silent for a while.
Jin Yue took the initiative to break the silence. “Alright, let’s not talk about this anymore. Since we’re here, let’s just enjoy the meal. There’s no point in thinking too much. Let’s eat.”
She waved for the waiter to come over and ordered food. Then, the two of them sat down and waited for the dishes to arrive.
“Oh, by the way, Uncle Jin called me a couple of days ago. He said he couldn’t get through to your phone. He came back from overseas and brought some food for you. He asked where we’re renting so he could have someone deliver it to us.”
Qian Shasha suddenly remembered that phone call. When she received it, she was very confused. When did she and Jin Yue start renting a place together?
At that time, she had been busy with something else and quickly made up an excuse to get rid of it. Now, she thought about it again and realized that Jin Yue must have been hiding something from her.
Jin Yue immediately asked, “Shasha, what did you say?”
“I got rid of it, but if you don’t come clean with me, if Uncle Jin calls again, I’m not sure what I’ll say,” Qian Shasha teased, eyeing Jin Yue with a playful but insistent gaze.
Jin Yue nervously brushed her hair and avoided Shasha’s gaze, then briefly explained her current situation with Qi Bei.
“What? You two already moved in together so quickly?”
Qian Shasha’s eyes widened in shock, her voice growing louder than usual.
Jin Yue quickly covered her mouth. “Shh, quiet down! Don’t make such a scene! We didn’t sleep in the same room. We just each have our own rooms, it’s like we’re roommates.”
Qian Shasha was still in disbelief. They had just broken up not long ago, and now, just like that, they had skipped the dating stage and were already living together?
Moreover, Qi Bei, who came from a wealthy family and had always been seen as mature and steady, was now acting like a possessive man when it came to her best friend. Was this world turning into something magical?
Thinking about this, Qian Shasha gave Jin Yue a new look. She was indeed pretty, but objectively speaking, there were other women more beautiful than her.
For example, the young lady from the Bai family—she was stunning, probably the most beautiful woman Qian Shasha had ever seen.
As for Su Chenxi, she wasn’t bad looking either, especially with the way she was always around Qi Bei.
Jin Yue seemed to have changed recently, not as willful and spoiled as before, but…
“What kind of look is that?! Don’t forget, you’re on my side!”
Jin Yue let go of her hand from Shasha’s mouth and sat back down, clearly annoyed.
Qian Shasha laughed it off, “I’m just being impartial!”
Seeing the serious expression on Jin Yue’s face, she quickly raised her thumb and said, “Well, Qi Bei has great taste. No wonder he’s my best friend, getting the top bachelor of A City once again!” Just then, the waiter brought the dishes, and Jin Yue knew Shasha would never stop with her teasing. The two decided to move on from the topic and enjoy their meal.
