Chapter 26: The Qi Family
While the two of them were eating, Qian Shasha suddenly had an idea and said to Jin Yue, “Jin Yue, I just thought of something. Since you’re back together with Qi Bei, you don’t have to worry about Qi Tian. Just have Qi Bei handle it.”
Jin Yue was confused. “Why wouldn’t I worry?”
“Don’t you know? Qi Tian is Qi Bei’s cousin. If you let Qi Bei talk to him, he’ll handle it. Who would dare go against Qi Bei?”
So, it turned out Qi Tian was from the Qi family. Qi Tian liked Su Chenxi, and Su Chenxi liked Qi Bei. Eventually, Qi Bei would probably fall for Su Chenxi as well. That was a proper love triangle, and to top it off, it was between two brothers—how exciting!
“Alright, enough thinking about it. I’ll take care of it myself. Let’s just eat.”
Jin Yue didn’t want to trouble Qi Bei if she didn’t have to. Since the issue started with Su Chenxi, she decided to deal with it directly with her.
After returning home, Jin Yue locked herself in her room, took out her phone, and dialed Su Chenxi’s number.
Unlike before, where the phone was off, this time, the phone rang for a while before someone answered.
“Su Chenxi?”
“It’s Yueyue. What’s up? Why are you calling me?” Su Chenxi’s voice sounded calm, though her expression was a little darker. How could she call her so casually after what happened? Wasn’t Qi Tian supposed to be causing trouble for her?
“Qi Tian came after me because of you, didn’t he? Didn’t we agree last time that we would stay out of each other’s way?”
“Yes, but didn’t I also tell you to stay away from Bei Ge? You didn’t listen to me, so why should I listen to you? And by the way, don’t spread lies. I never told Qi Tian to come after you. Did he trouble you?”
Su Chenxi’s grip on her phone tightened. She remembered the photos from the private investigator and realized that Jin Yue must have intentionally provoked her. Jin Yue had just promised to stay away from Qi Bei, but now they were living together. There was no way she would believe it was a coincidence.
Sigh, Su Chenxi, we don’t need to be enemies…
Before Jin Yue could finish speaking, Su Chenxi hung up the phone, not even letting her explain. Was she really that naive to believe her? Su Chenxi thought, remembering that Jin Yue would always go back to Qi Bei no matter what.
“I’ll take care of this myself.”
Su Chenxi gritted her teeth, determined to solve things her own way. She wanted what she wanted, and no one would stand in her way.
Jin Yue stared at her phone, feeling helpless. She had only spoken the truth, so why didn’t anyone believe her?
With Su Chenxi out of the picture, Jin Yue knew she still had to deal with Qi Tian. She didn’t want to feel anxious going to school every day, so it seemed she would have to ask Qi Bei for help after all.
That night, Qi Bei had a social engagement and came back late. He assumed Jin Yue had already gone to bed, but when he returned, he saw her sitting on the couch with her legs crossed, smiling as she watched him.
“You’re back!” Jin Yue ran over, helping him take off his jacket and hang it up. She even offered him slippers, her attentiveness seeming a bit out of the ordinary.
Qi Bei, feeling comfortable, let her do everything without protest. After changing his shoes, he picked her up and carried her to the sofa. The low, hoarse sound of his voice broke the silence.
“So, what’s the matter?”
Usually, Jin Yue would struggle a little when he carried her, but today, she was unexpectedly compliant.
Gold Moon gently poked her head out of Qi Bei’s embrace and said softly, “Qi Bei, is Qi Tian your cousin? It seems like he has some misunderstandings about me because of Su Chenxi. Could you arrange to meet him? I’d like to talk to him.”
When Qi Bei heard “Su Chenxi,” his black eyes narrowed dangerously. Why did this woman’s name keep popping up between them? But how did Qi Tian get involved with her? Qi Tian had grown up in an environment where he was overly spoiled by his uncle and aunt, using his family background to get away with many things. And now, Gold Moon, who usually dealt with her own issues, was asking him for help—was something really going on?
“What did Qi Tian do to you?” Qi Bei asked in a low, cold tone.
He sat her upright in his lap and began inspecting her to see if there were any marks on her body.
Gold Moon, feeling nervous under his intense gaze, tightly clutched the hem of her clothes. “It’s fine, I managed to run away. Could you help me arrange to meet him tomorrow?”
She knew that she had no classes tomorrow and only had a professional course the day after. She needed to solve this matter as quickly as possible.
Seeing that she was fine, Qi Bei relaxed, but a sense of guilt washed over him. He’d been too careless before, letting someone bully her while he remained unaware.
“Starting tomorrow, I’ll have the driver take you to school, and you won’t drive anymore. You’ll be accompanied whenever you go out.” He made up his mind to protect her more carefully.
“No, I’ll sort things out with Qi Tian tomorrow. No one is bothering me, don’t overreact. Besides, even if someone wanted to, what could a driver do? Right?” Gold Moon said as she pulled on his sleeve, trying to act cute and convince him not to have someone follow her around all the time, as it would feel like she was being watched.
She knew that Qi Bei couldn’t resist when she acted soft and sweet.
Qi Bei, however, wasn’t moved. He said firmly, “No, be good.”
He had to be a bit more dominant. After all, this was about her safety, and he wouldn’t let her be reckless.
Gold Moon snorted in dissatisfaction. “You’re just like my dad!”
“What did you do today?” Qi Bei asked, suddenly changing the topic, his eyes still lingering on her lips.
Gold Moon, noticing his gaze, realized that he had that look again—like he was thinking about kissing her. She quickly averted her gaze, feeling a sense of alertness rise in her. This man was up to something again.
She kicked him away and hurriedly ran upstairs, calling out, “Pervert!” with a tone full of embarrassment and irritation.
Qi Bei watched her run away, the corner of his lips curling into a smile, but he also sighed helplessly. This little troublemaker kept running away from him, not letting him kiss her. Now, when he finally caught her, she ran away again.
He shook his head. After waiting for his emotions to calm down, he picked up his phone and made a call.
