Chapter 37: Encountering Cui Li Again at the Amusement Park
After shopping all day with no results, Qi Bei was unaffected at all, while Jin Yue was exhausted, feeling like a dog.
Why did it suddenly feel like everything she did was just trivial to Qi Bei?
After taking a bath, Jin Yue lay on the bed with a frustrated face, then glanced at the black card on the bedside table she had just taken, feeling even more helpless.
After walking around all day, she was probably going to feel like her legs were useless when she woke up tomorrow. Maybe it would be better to rest for a few days before continuing her “scheming” plans.
As for the next step, what should she choose? Hmm, maybe the amusement park. Someone like him should be unable to tolerate the amusement park, right?
A few days later, it was Sunday, the sun shining brightly. Jin Yue had recovered from her previous fatigue and dragged Qi Bei out, not telling him the destination.
Half an hour later, Qi Bei and Jin Yue arrived at the amusement park. Jin Yue excitedly exclaimed to Qi Bei: “Tada! How about that, you didn’t expect it to be the amusement park! I always wanted to come here when I was a kid, but my parents were always too busy. Now that I’ve grown up, you won’t leave me alone, right?”
Honestly, Qi Bei was hesitant when he saw so many children and students at the amusement park. He wanted to refuse, but looking at Jin Yue’s expectant eyes, he reluctantly nodded in agreement.
Qi Bei bought the tickets and took Jin Yue into the park.
Once they entered, Jin Yue immediately grabbed Qi Bei’s hand and queued up for the roller coaster. This was a must-ride for her.
She had done her research, and this roller coaster was the most thrilling ride in the park, with two 90-degree vertical drops. It combined the intensity of a drop tower and the winding twists of a roller coaster, something few could handle.
But she was someone who enjoyed thrills. She looked at Qi Bei, pouting, and said, “Qi Bei, I’ve always wanted to ride this roller coaster. You must come with me, okay?”
Qi Bei looked at the roller coaster that plunged down high into the sky and swallowed nervously. Deep down, he was terrified; he had a fear of heights. Damn it.
But since it was so rare for Jin Yue to act this cute, how could he refuse her?
At this moment, he just wished time could slow down, or that the ride would be closed, so they couldn’t go on it.
However, things didn’t go as Qi Bei had hoped. The line quickly moved forward, and soon it was their turn. Jin Yue tugged on him, eager to get on.
Qi Bei froze, feeling nervous, but Jin Yue didn’t give him a chance to back out. Seeing him hesitate, she gently pulled him and dragged him to the roller coaster seat.
“Jin Yue, is that you?”
Suddenly, a familiar male voice came from beside them. Jin Yue turned to look, and it was… Cui Li?
They hadn’t seen each other since their encounter at the bar, where Qi Bei had fought with Cui Li. She didn’t know what happened afterward since Qi Bei had pulled her away.
“It’s you! Are you here to ride the roller coaster too?”
Qi Bei, who had been nervous and not wanting to speak, heard Cui Li’s voice and felt his anger rise. He immediately stood up, ready to pull Jin Yue away.
“What are you doing, Qi Bei? I want to ride the roller coaster!”
“Change seats,” Qi Bei insisted, not giving her a chance to refuse. He pulled her up.
“Sir, the ride is about to start, please take your seat,” a nearby staff member quickly reminded them.
“There are no more available seats. This is the only spot left, please sit down, everyone’s watching,” the staff continued.
Jin Yue didn’t care about Qi Bei; she shook off his hand and tried to sit back in her original seat, but Qi Bei immediately yanked her up again.
“I’ll swap seats with you,” he said.
With that, Jin Yue was dragged into Qi Bei’s seat, while he took her spot.
The last time these two met, they had a fight—surely, they won’t fight again, right?
Jin Yue nervously watched the two men. Qi Bei glanced at her and said, “If you’re not going to sit down, we’ll get off.”
Jin Yue chuckled awkwardly and hurriedly sat down, though she kept a careful eye on the situation between the two men.
After their previous fight, Cui Li had recognized Qi Bei as the current leader of the Qi family, especially since one of his company’s biggest competitors was Qi Corporation.
To face your enemy, you must understand both yourself and them to win battles without fail.
Cui Li had done his research on Qi Bei and recognized him, but he hadn’t expected that their conflict wasn’t work-related—it was about Jin Yue.
This was getting interesting.
Cui Li spoke up, “Ah, it’s Mr. Qi, the famous CEO. Last time we met, I didn’t get the chance to greet you properly.”
Qi Bei replied coldly, “Forget it, just stay away from Jin Yue.”
“Attention, everyone,” a staff member announced over a loudspeaker, “The ride is about to begin. Please double-check your seat belts and make sure they are fastened.”
Qi Bei immediately tensed up. Cui Li noticed and mocked him, “Mr. Qi, are you scared of the ride? It’s not too late to back out now.”
“That’s nonsense, how could I be afraid?” Qi Bei responded stubbornly, not wanting to admit his fear, especially in front of what might be a rival.
It was just a fear of heights—what couldn’t be overcome?
The bell rang, signaling the start of the ride, and the train slowly began moving.
A few minutes later…
Qi Bei rushed to a nearby trash can after the ride, his steps unsteady. He looked pale, his lips were ashen, and his stomach was churning. Eventually, he couldn’t hold it in anymore and vomited.
“Qi Bei, you’re so weak! Look at Cui Li, he’s fine, even his ten-year-old nephew isn’t affected, so why did you puke?” Jin Yue followed him over, watching his condition, feeling strangely uncomfortable, almost a little pitying. But she couldn’t let her image falter and quickly hardened her heart to say what was on her mind.
The strategy guide had said that men hated it when their girlfriends compared them to others.
Even though this wasn’t her intention for today, it was just a perfect coincidence that they ran into Cui Li.
Cui Li, who had brought his nephew along, overheard her and was surprised. What was going on with Jin Yue? She was starting to sound a bit like her old self again.
He could tell that Qi Bei was afraid of the roller coaster, likely due to a fear of heights. Even though he had mocked him earlier, Cui Li still felt a bit shocked inside. Qi Bei had pushed past his own fear to be there for Jin Yue.
He hadn’t expected the famous CEO Qi to have such strong feelings for Jin Yue.
Cui Li believed that if he could see it, Jin Yue certainly could as well. But she chose to speak those words at that moment, which made Cui Li question his previous judgments.
The last time they met at the bar, he had been quite interested in the old version of Jin Yue. But now, after some time had passed, she seemed to be slipping back into that familiar persona.
Qi Bei looked at Jin Yue in disbelief, as if he couldn’t believe she would say something like that.
