Just as Lu Youze finished chatting with Gu Xuanze and was about to take a shower before going to bed, a knock sounded outside his room.
“Young Master, are you asleep?” Uncle Lu asked softly from outside the door.
“Not yet!” Lu Youze quickly ran to open the door. “Uncle Lu, is something wrong?”
“Yes.” Uncle Lu nodded, his expression somewhat serious. “Young Master, you have a guest.”
“A guest?” Lu Youze was a little surprised. Who would come looking for him at this hour? “Who is it?”
Aside from Aze and Ye You, no one should know that he was home tonight.
“It’s Ye Xing,” Uncle Lu replied. “The former butler of President Gu’s family.”
Lu Youze didn’t have much interaction with Ye Xing. His only impression of him was that he used to follow Ah Hao around all the time, displaying an unusual level of obsession with him. What could he possibly want now? He quickly recalled what had happened between him and Ye You at the café earlier that afternoon. Since Ye Xing was also from the Ye family, Lu Youze had a vague idea of why he had come.
“Uncle Lu, I understand.” Lu Youze nodded. “Please entertain him for me. I’ll be down in a moment.”
“Alright,” Uncle Lu responded before leaving.
Lu Youze didn’t keep Ye Xing waiting long. After changing his clothes, he went downstairs to the living room. Ye Xing was sitting on the sofa, drinking tea, while Uncle Lu stood beside him with a blank expression. The two weren’t conversing at all.
“Uncle Lu, I have something to discuss with Mr. Ye. You should go and rest,” Lu Youze said as he sat across from Ye Xing.
Uncle Lu glanced at Ye Xing, as if issuing a warning, before leaving.
“Your butler doesn’t seem to like me,” Ye Xing remarked as he watched Uncle Lu’s retreating figure.
“Then you must have done something to displease him,” Lu Youze replied with a smile. In his eyes, Uncle Lu was a dedicated and kind-hearted butler.
Ye Xing shot him a look and sneered, “You really underestimate your butler.”
Someone who had served by Lu Lihai’s side for so long and was one of his most trusted subordinates could never be just a simple housekeeper. Only this amnesiac movie star, Lu Youze, would look at the world through rose-tinted glasses and think that such a ruthless man was just a kindly old butler. Just like how he saw Ye You—who was a scheming wolf that devoured people whole without leaving bones—as a harmless little lamb. But that wasn’t Ye Xing’s concern.
He had already spent too much time outside today, leaving the Second Young Master alone at home. He was uneasy about it, so he needed to get this over with quickly and return to him.
“Young Master Lu, where is the USB drive containing the surveillance footage that Ye You gave you?” Ye Xing asked seriously after downing his tea in one gulp.
Lu Youze was a little surprised that Ye Xing knew about the footage, but after thinking about it, he quickly understood. He didn’t bother to hide it and replied, “The USB drive is in my hotel room, but I’ve already deleted the footage inside.”
“Deleted it?” Ye Xing frowned, his voice rising slightly as he sneered. “You really are devoted to your Young Master.”
Although what he said was true, his sarcastic tone made Lu Youze uncomfortable. He chuckled, “Of course. Aze and I are in love.”
Hmph! In other words, despite Ye Xing chasing after Gu Xuanhao for so long, that idiot was still stuck in unrequited love.
“A few months ago, you weren’t saying that,” Ye Xing remarked, glancing at Lu Youze’s belly before adding with a smirk, “But seeing you so happy with the Young Master now just proves that sometimes, even a forcibly twisted melon can be sweet, don’t you think?”
He was clearly implying something.
“Ye Xing, if you dare make Ah Hao suffer, I won’t let you off,” Lu Youze’s expression darkened. He didn’t bother with subtlety and spoke directly.
Gu Xuanhao was the first friend he had made in this world, and because of Gu Xuanze, Lu Youze already considered him family—just like his own younger brother, Lu Youxi. There was no way he’d let anyone bully him.
“You don’t need to worry about that,” Ye Xing said. “I have even less desire to hurt him than you do.”
Lu Youze studied Ye Xing. He, too, was someone who had loved in vain. He couldn’t help but recall the Gu Xuanze from before he had crossed into this world—at that time, his Aze had likely been even more desperate than Ye Xing was now.
“Ah Hao is soft-hearted,” Lu Youze eventually said, his voice tinged with a hint of sympathy. “You can’t rush him.”
Ye Xing looked at him in surprise. “You’re not objecting?”
“If Ah Hao truly likes you, why would I oppose it?” Lu Youze replied. He knew that AA relationships weren’t widely accepted in this world, but if Ah Hao genuinely had feelings for Ye Xing, the three of them could always protect him.
“Then you should talk to the Young Master,” Ye Xing said, his attitude noticeably softer than before. “That guy is such an old-fashioned fossil.”
“We’ll talk when Ah Hao actually falls for you.”
If Gu Xuanhao didn’t have feelings for Ye Xing, persuading Gu Xuanze would be pointless anyway.
Ye Xing didn’t push the matter further. Instead, he returned to the original topic. “Deleting the video isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Young Master Lu, when you return tomorrow, have the Young Master bring the USB drive to me.”
“What are you planning to do with it?”
“Ye You asked me for help. Wasn’t this something you asked him to do? Now you’re questioning me?”
Although Ye Xing complained, he still explained Ye You’s plan to Lu Youze in detail.
“Then I’ll have to trouble you with this,” Lu Youze said sincerely after listening. “Thank you!”
“You don’t need to thank me. I’m not doing this for you,” Ye Xing replied, a ruthless glint flashing in his eyes. “Anyone who dares to harm Second Young Master will not be spared.”
“Even if it’s for Ah Hao, I should still thank you.”
“Forget it. You should be thinking about how to make it up to the Young Master. Using a wedding as bait to lure someone in—he must be feeling pretty upset right now.”
“That’s not something you need to worry about,” Lu Youze chuckled. “Once everything is settled, I’ll make sure to properly make it up to him.”
Since the matter was now settled, Ye Xing didn’t linger any longer. After giving some additional instructions, he left.
Just as Ye Xing stepped out, Lu Bo walked over.
“Lu Bo, do you have something to tell me?”
“Yes, Young Master.” Lu Bo’s expression was serious. “It’s best that you don’t get too close to Ye Xing.”
“Why?” Lu Youze asked, suddenly intrigued.
“You know the Ye family has its own intelligence network, don’t you?” Lu Bo said. “You should be aware that there’s some information money can’t buy.”
Lu Bo furrowed his brows even deeper. He had suffered at the hands of that intelligence network before. “Back when Ye Xing was still with the Ye family, he was in charge of it. His job was to pry open the mouths of those who refused to speak.”
The methods varied, but they all boiled down to coercion and enticement—ruthless and cunning. He could turn on someone as easily as flipping a page in a book, prioritizing only interests, as if he had no emotions at all.
After hearing this, Lu Youze couldn’t help but sigh. Even someone like that could end up willingly trapping himself in a cage, completely ensnared by that fool Gu Xuanhao.
“Lu Bo, if that’s the case, then you can rest assured,” Lu Youze said with confidence. “Ye Xing has his own weakness. This time, he’ll definitely help us.”
“It’s still best to be cautious.”
“I know. Thank you for your concern, Lu Bo.”
Lu Bo looked at Lu Youze. The Young Master had truly matured a lot—perhaps he and Master didn’t need to worry so much anymore.
“Then, Young Master, I’ll get back to work. Rest early.”
“You too, Lu Bo. Take your time with things—your health is more important.”
