Lu Youze set an alarm for 5:00 AM. The crew was scheduled to start work at 8:00 AM, and he planned to return to the hotel, meet Gu Xuanze, have breakfast together, and then head to the set. However, before the alarm went off, he woke up in pain at around 3:00 AM. His lower abdomen suddenly hurt intensely. While he could have endured the pain, considering the baby in his womb, he didn’t dare to take it lightly. “Call that Gu kid,” Lu Lihai turned to Lu Bo, his tone angry. “Tell him to come over immediately.”

“Dad, can we wait until morning for him to come?” Lu Youze spoke weakly.

Lu Lihai gave him a glance and didn’t say anything, but his look clearly meant there was no room for discussion.

Lu Bo, showing good sense, immediately dialed Gu Xuanze’s number.

It was just past 3:00 AM, yet Gu Xuanze answered the call instantly. Lu Youze took note of this, thinking he needed to be more mindful of his dear Ah Ze’s sleep patterns in the future.

“Is this Mr. Gu?” Lu Bo’s voice was cold, and he seemed to have some issues with the future son-in-law. “Our Young Master is unwell. The Master wants you to come over immediately.”

Lu Bo, the way you’re speaking, Ah Ze might misunderstand, Lu Youze thought helplessly. He tried to smile and reached for the phone. “Lu Bo, give me the phone. I’ll talk to Ah Ze.”

“Mr. Gu has already hung up,” Lu Bo said, pointing to the phone with an innocent look.

Lu Youze could only hope that Gu Xuanze would be careful while driving and avoid speeding. The last thing he wanted was for him to end up in the police station tomorrow—or, worse, get into a car accident.

Lu Lihai sat quietly on the sofa by the bed, not saying a word, while Lu Bo stood next to him.

Qiao Ma continued to ramble about precautions, but Lu Youze wasn’t in the mood to listen to any of it.

Fortunately, the strange atmosphere in the room didn’t last long, as Dr. Lei arrived soon after.

Dr. Lei conducted a full examination of Lu Youze and gave him an injection. Afterward, the pain in his abdomen eased significantly, and he could at least sit up without difficulty. Dr. Lei prescribed some medication, and Lu Bo took the prescription and left to have the medicine prepared.

“How is it?” Lu Lihai stood up, his expression still stern, but his voice now clearly filled with concern. “Is the baby okay? Should we go to the hospital?”

“Don’t worry too much, Master,” Dr. Lei said gently. “Young Master’s body isn’t in serious trouble. The pain was likely caused by overexertion and lack of rest, leading to muscle strain, which then triggered abdominal pain. A little more rest and time will help.” He thought for a moment and then added, “Though, even though Young Master’s condition is fine and the baby is developing healthily, you know that anything can happen during pregnancy. Hearing this, Lu Youze felt frustrated. It seemed impossible now to finish filming The Days Walking the Jianghu during his pregnancy.

After seeing off the doctor, Gu Xuanze also arrived.
