Chapter 40 Do you feel there is something strange about Jiang Li?
The proprietress of the clothing store looked to be in her thirties. Her slightly curly long hair hung loosely by her ears, and beneath her curved eyebrows were clear, lazy eyes. Her waist was slender, and she swayed slightly as she walked.
After she said this, Jiang Li and the three little ones looked at their stomachs in unison. Sure enough, their originally flat bellies had already protruded slightly. Jiang Li was slightly stunned. It must be that her spiritual energy had increased, and this child’s development was even faster than Jiang Nian’s. The proprietress saw Jiang Li’s surprised expression and slightly curled her lips. “So you haven’t noticed you’re pregnant yet.”
Jiang Li snapped out of her daze and gave her a gentle smile. “Thank you for reminding me.” The proprietress didn’t say anything, she took a slightly loose snake skin garment from behind the counter in the store. “The garment you’re wearing is tight, the one I’m holding is loose, it’s just right for your growing belly.” Jiang Li was slightly taken aback, just as she was complimenting the proprietress for being good at business, the three little ones behind her reached out to take the snake skin garment from her hands. “Thank you, proprietress, we’ll take it.”
The three little ones saw that Jiang Li was just standing there in a daze and didn’t take it, thinking that she was too expensive and didn’t want to spend money, so they took the initiative to take the garment. Jiang Li turned around to look at the three little ones when she came back to her senses. “You…” Hu Lao Er smiled at her and blinked.
“Sister, buy whatever you want, we have spirit stones.” “Yes, yes, yes!” Hu Lao Da nodded in agreement and took out the spirit stones to pay. Hearing this, Jiang Li didn’t stand on ceremony with them. “Okay, then I won’t be polite!” The group of them had a great time shopping at the market. Hu Lao Da and Hu Lao San bought a bunch of food and toys. Jiang Li and Hu Lao Er went to buy colorful hair ties and had an old lady braid their hair. By the time they finished shopping at the market, it was already noon. The scorching sun hung high in the sky. It seemed like summer had arrived; the midday sun baked on their bodies as if they had shed a layer of skin.
Jiang Li was fine, but the three little ones, being members of the snake tribe, were still children after all, facing this scorching sun, they were already sweating profusely, and even had a bit of a starburst in their eyes. “It’s so hot!” Hu Lao San had already stuck out his tongue to dissipate heat.
“I hate summer so much.” Seeing that the three little ones were suffering from the heat, Jiang Li spoke and took them away. Luckily, there were many lush trees on the way back, and the three little ones felt a little cooler. But when they happily returned to the cave, they saw two unexpected guests. “Hi, Jiang Li!” Guo Xia greeted Jiang Li enthusiastically.
And next to him, sitting down, was Ye Yao. He looked at her and the three little ones coldly. Jiang Li was fine, but the three little ones were so frightened when they saw Ye Yao that they trembled all over, the things in their hands all fell to the ground, and they cowered behind Jiang Li. “Prince Ye Yao…” The three little ones were so frightened that their faces turned pale, and they couldn’t stop trembling. They were afraid that Ye Yao would punish them for appearing here without permission.
“Eh? Your things all fell.” Guo Xia squatted down and picked up the things on the ground. Jiang Li looked back at those icy eyes and questioned, “Why are you here?” Ye Yao seemed to have heard a joke, “This is my residence, why can’t I be here?”
A light and airy sentence, but it left Jiang Li speechless. She thought about it, it was indeed Ye Yao’s residence. “Jiang Li, I heard you knocked down Lei Meng? You’re so amazing!” Guo Xia winked at her playfully and returned the things he had picked up to the three little ones. The three little ones were originally afraid to take them, but thinking that they had bought them with their own money, they still took them with trembling fear.
“I also heard that you’re going to marry Ye Yao?” Ye Yao paused slightly. Seeing Guo Xia’s gloating look, she really wanted to give him a knuckle rap. But before Jiang Li could react, Guo Xia continued on his own, “Anyway, you’re going to live together sooner or later, Ye Yao, he…” Guo Xia’s words were halfway through when Ye Yao coughed lightly, interrupting his words. “Guo Xia doesn’t want me to live with him, so he kicked me out.”
As soon as these words came out, Guo Xia’s slightly narrowed eyes instantly widened, looking like two big walnuts. “Ye Yao, you…” “Huh? What’s wrong with me?” Ye Yao gave him a cold look, scaring Guo Xia into not daring to say a word. Guo Xia was wronged, but he dared not speak… Looking at the interaction between the two, Jiang Li felt strange. Guo Xia looked like he was being coerced. Jiang Li secretly moved to Guo Xia’s side and asked softly, “Guo Xia, what exactly happened?
Is it really as Ye Yao said?” Guo Xia stared at Jiang Li with a pitiful look, as if he was going to cry. “Tell me, I believe you.” “Thank you, Jiang Li, but…” Guo Xia glanced towards Ye Yao again. Ye Yao slightly curled his lips and gave him a faint smile.
But this smile was as uncomfortable as a snake constricting him. He quickly retracted his gaze and changed his tune, “No, what could happen to me? What Ye Yao said is true.” Guo Xia smiled on his face, but tears flowed in his heart. “I kicked him out, I’m a normal male, sleeping with a male, if others knew, my reputation would be ruined.”
Though she still had many questions, Jiang Li stopped asking after hearing Guo Xia’s explanation. Seeing this, Guo Xia breathed a sigh of relief. “Jiang Li, where did these three kids come from?” “I met them last night.” Mentioning the three little ones, Jiang Li remembered that they hadn’t eaten yet. “Are you hungry?” Jiang Li turned to ask them. The three little ones just nodded, not daring to speak. “You haven’t eaten yet? I’ll have someone get you some food.
” As he spoke, Guo Xia was about to walk outside. Jiang Li quickly stopped him. “Guo Xia, no need.” Guo Xia stopped in his tracks and turned to look at Jiang Li in confusion. “We’ll have grilled fish!” As soon as they heard about grilled fish, the three little ones’ eyes lit up immediately. Before Guo Xia and Ye Yao could react, she took the three little ones towards the creek. Just like last night, the three little ones gathered wood and lit a fire, while Jiang Li went to catch fish. She first washed the mud off her face, then picked up a stick and stood quietly by the creek, staring at the fat fish. Ye Yao and Guo Xia also walked out of the cave, looking at her back, Guo Xia’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, and he pouted. “Ye Yao, did you notice? It’s only been one night since we last saw her, Jiang Li feels… different.
” Ye Yao pursed his lips and didn’t say anything. How could he not have noticed? He saw Jiang Li squatting down finally making a move, picking up a stick and stabbing it into the creek. Water splashed everywhere, even splashing her. “Caught one!” Jiang Li turned around and threw the fish on the ground. But at the moment she turned around, Ye Yao’s gaze also fell on her protruding belly.
