Chapter 31: Eating Poisonous Devil’s Tongue Alive
After they finished reviewing the dungeon, Han Chong, having vented his anger, returned to the living room to practice the newly acquired abilities with everyone else.
“We’re all going to be busy. Chu Xihen, since you have nothing to do, go inside and keep an eye on the injured one.” Han Chong never learns. No matter how many times he gets burned, he always finds an opportunity to take a jab at Chu Xihen.
“Sure,” Chu Xihen was indeed bored, so he went into the room and leaned against Gao Lin’s bed, closing his eyes to rest.
He was exhausted, but he couldn’t fall asleep.
Outside, the day dawned, and the temperature inside the house was already quite high.
Chu Xihen was unbearably hot. He used his points from the mall to exchange for a piece of ice to hold in his hand.
Then, when he looked up, he saw that Gao Lin had also been awakened by the heat.
Gao Lin’s condition had been critical last night, but he had pulled through. Moreover, overnight, the corrosive wounds on his body had visibly recovered a lot.
“Since you’re awake, get up. Zhou Quan is very worried about you.” Chu Xihen said before walking out of the room with the ice pack to the living room.
The people sitting in the living room also stopped practicing because the indoor temperature was getting higher and higher. They all stopped when they heard the door open.
“Gao Lin is awake.” Chu Xihen said, walking to the sofa with the ice pack. He didn’t mind the heat and leaned directly against Lou Su, closing his eyes.
Lou Su frowned slightly when he turned his head and saw the obvious dark circles under his eyes.
Although time in the real world stopped after entering the dungeon, they had actually spent forty-eight hours inside. Chu Xihen probably hadn’t had a good night’s sleep the whole time.
So delicate even in the apocalypse. He’s going to suffer later, Lou Su thought to himself.
Although he thought so, he still reached out and gently pulled the person into his arms to make him sleep more comfortably.
“Where did he get the ice? Did he exchange it with points? What a waste of resources!” Han Chong couldn’t stand seeing the two of them being so lovey-dovey together.
He admitted that Lou Su’s strength was good, even comparable to Bai Jinli, who had been very lucky.
It’s just that his taste in people is really bad.
Zhou Quan entered the room and helped Gao Lin out. Gao Lin was still very weak. Seeing Chu Xihen and Lou Su leaning together, he also leaned on Zhou Quan’s shoulder.
“It’s great that you’re all okay.” Gao Lin played his part, his voice so soft that only Zhou Quan could hear him.
“It’s good that you’re okay too.” Seeing Gao Lin wake up, the stone that had been hanging in Zhou Quan’s heart all night finally fell.
Han Chong looked left and right. If the sun outside wasn’t deadly, he really wouldn’t want to stay in this house and eat dog food!
“Now that you’re awake, can you tell us what you encountered in the dungeon? Why were you almost dead when you came out?” Han Chong asked Gao Lin.
“The teammates I matched with were all dead. I relied on my last breath to kill the Poisonous Devil’s Tongue and come out. Before I came out, I exchanged some medicine in the mall, or I would have died too.” Gao Lin knew that others also wanted to know about his situation in the dungeon, so he answered Han Chong’s question.
“It’s a good thing you had foresight!” Zhou Quan felt terrified just listening to it.
Fortunately, Gao Lin had awakened his ability before entering, otherwise the consequences would have been unimaginable.
Chu Xihen was lying in Lou Su’s arms, but he was not asleep. After hearing Gao Lin’s words, he felt that this was the ending that the first dungeon should have.
The fact that Lou Su and his team were able to survive was not only because they had strength but also because both male protagonists were inside, so naturally, nothing major would happen.
“Then what skill did you get?” Han Chong asked again.
These words made Gao Lin so angry that he sat up. “None of your business!”
Han Chong: “…”
He just asked out of habit.
One’s own skills should be kept secret. After all, in this apocalypse, in addition to killing异种 (yì zhǒng, “different species” or monsters) and entering dungeons, one must also guard against other ability users. Abilities are trump cards and should be hidden from people you don’t trust.
They had all spoken last night because they had come out of the same dungeon.
As for Chu Xihen, he only had two useless cards. Even if he took the initiative to speak, Han Chong wouldn’t be happy to hear it!
“Then tell me?” Zhou Quan asked Gao Lin.
It wasn’t that he was stupid and deliberately wanted Gao Lin to reveal his skills just to compete with Han Chong. It was that everyone here had shared their skills, Gao Lin didn’t know his, but he could relay it, but everyone else didn’t know Gao Lin’s, which was a bit unfair.
Zhou Quan asked this mainly to show Lou Su their sincerity, hoping that the other party would bring them along next time they entered the dungeon.
Gao Lin didn’t know Zhou Quan’s considerations, but he didn’t refuse.
He said to him, “It’s a skill called ‘Ignition.’ It can compress flames into a very small volume and then detonate them. The power will increase tenfold, but I haven’t had time to study how to use it specifically.”
After hearing this, Lou Su immediately thought of Zhou Quan’s skill. “This should be able to cooperate with Zhou Quan’s ball creation.”
Zhou Quan’s eyes lit up. “It seems like it really can. You put the flame into the ping pong ball I create, and then throw it out and detonate it. Let’s go to the window and try it.”
As long as Gao Lin woke up, his recovery speed would increase with the blessing of his ability. After eating something, his complexion looked much better. He braved the high temperature and cooperated with Zhou Quan by the window to use their skills.
Chu Xihen was sweating profusely in Lou Su’s arms, but he was not asleep at all. Just as he was about to get up, he suddenly sensed danger approaching.
He grabbed Lou Su’s waist. Before he could make the next move, Lou Su rolled off the sofa with him.
The noise of the two rolling on the ground was not small. Everyone else in the living room looked over, only to see a purple tendril piercing through the spot where Lou Su had been sitting with Chu Xihen.
Then a second tendril stretched out, and the two tendrils expanded to the left and right, tearing the sofa apart. Then a triangular body with purple liquid emerged from the ground. The liquid on its body quickly corroded the surrounding objects, forming a small pit larger than its body.
“Is this the Poisonous Devil’s Tongue we encountered in the dungeon?” Zhou Quan was so frightened that he pulled Gao Lin back a few steps.
Gao Lin, however, turned red with anger when he saw this thing. “Give it what we were practicing just now!”
“Okay!” Zhou Quan raised his hand and was about to start creating a ball.
Lou Su stopped him. “Don’t disturb it yet, this house will be destroyed, and we’ll be finished.”
After his reminder, everyone remembered that the sun was scorching outside, and they would die if they went out now.
“Are you hurt?” Lou Su helped Chu Xihen up from the ground and asked.
The situation was urgent just now, and he was afraid that the Poisonous Devil’s Tongue would attack from behind, so he directly pressed Chu Xihen under him when he landed, wanting to use his back to block the attack.
“It’s nothing. We still have to get out of the house. Its venom is constantly flowing, and if the tendrils are moving around in the house, we won’t have anywhere to hide.” Chu Xihen’s palm was scratched on the floor. The wounds with blood beads were particularly glaring on his fair skin.
Hearing his words from behind, Han Chong began to sneer again. “Young Master Chu, you analyze things so well. Then think of a way for us to go out without being exposed to the sun?”
Chu Xihen responded softly, “I actually have a method, wouldn’t you know?”
“Based on you? If you can solve this problem, I’ll eat this Poisonous Devil’s Tongue alive!” Han Chong retorted recklessly.
