Chapter 44: Various Attempts to Secure a Title
Amidst the crowded throngs, the group veered into a special passage.
As they were about to exit, Jiang Cheng lowered his head and asked Ji Shuyi, who was nestled in the crook of his arm, “Does your family know you came here?”
“Yes, they do,” Ji Shuyi answered truthfully. “My brother got me leave.”
Jiang Cheng reassuredly responded, “That’s good.”
“That’s good?” Ji Shuyi suddenly asked curiously, “What if they didn’t know?”
Jiang Cheng’s expression immediately turned serious as he said, “Then I’d have to send you back as soon as we get out.”
He frowned and said, “I can’t let your family misunderstand. If a big man like me secretly lures their precious darling to this foreign land, they’d be worried to death.”
Ji Shuyi was a little surprised by his reaction. She didn’t expect him to think about whether her family knew or worried at this moment. It turned out that beneath his frivolous and indifferent exterior, he harbored a meticulous heart. He wasn’t the type to coax a girl with the name of love, gradually isolating her from her family.
She had always disliked men who, when faced with parental disapproval, didn’t make an effort but instead coaxed the girl into eloping. In her eyes, such men were selfish, irresponsible, and low-class.
And Jiang Cheng didn’t seem to be that kind of man.
Ji Shuyi suddenly smiled happily and said, “I suddenly realize your values are quite upright. You do have some good points.”
“What do you mean, ‘still have some good points’?” Jiang Cheng retorted displeasedly. “I have plenty of good points. You’ll discover them slowly.”
“Ew~~ Narcissistic,” Ji Shuyi retorted with disdain.
After exiting the racetrack, the group boarded a top-of-the-line luxury seven-seater Mercedes-Benz.
In the car, seeing Chen Xingyi, Jiang Cheng remembered to ask Ji Shuyi, “What exactly did Chen Xingyi tell you?”
What could make her travel thousands of miles to find him…and give him a kiss!
Hearing the question from the back seat, Chen Xingyi immediately coughed strategically, silently reminding Ji Shuyi not to speak.
After all, many of his words were exaggerated, like last words, corpses, dying on the racetrack…
He could guess with his toes that if Jiang Cheng knew he had scared the prickly rabbit like that, he would definitely get a beating.
When that time came, gratitude would be gratitude, and beating him would be beating him!
Receiving the hint, Ji Shuyi, with a strong sense of contract spirit, immediately cooperated and said, “He didn’t say much, just told me you were competing here.”
She had promised Chen Xingyi not to tell Jiang Cheng the specific details.
Seeing this, Jiang Cheng guessed that he wouldn’t be able to get any useful information out of her at this time. He also didn’t want to exert force on Chen Xingyi in front of her. Besides, he didn’t want to hear it from Chen Xingyi; he wanted to hear it from Ji Shuyi. He wanted to hear her say under what circumstances she had traveled thousands of miles to his side.
Anyway, the little girl was by his side now. Just a little sweet-talking, a small problem.
At that moment, Jiang Cheng gave up pursuing the matter.
The group arrived at the clubhouse. Tang Shiqing first accompanied Shen Yan to the restroom.
The Jiang family had started in Europe in its early years, and its influence made many people willingly look up to them.
The clubhouse owner greeted them personally. Despite being of an age to be an uncle, he took the lead to extend his hand to Jiang Cheng, “Young Master Jiang, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”
His Chinese was a bit awkward.
At that moment, Jiang Cheng shed all traces of his student-like demeanor, resembling a seasoned business tycoon. His aura was cold yet revealed an introverted stability as he reached out to shake the owner’s hand.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, the group went directly to the reserved banquet hall. The entertainment facilities inside could be said to be all-encompassing, and the private dining rooms were well soundproofed, so the diners wouldn’t be disturbed by the noises outside.
Seeing the karaoke area, Chen Xingyi, itching to show off his skills, went over and selected “An Ordinary Hero” to sing.
Surprisingly, it sounded pretty good.
After listening for a while, Ji Shuyi curiously asked Jiang Cheng beside her, “Jiang Cheng, can you sing?”
Jiang Cheng replied lazily, “Yes, I can.”
“Really?” Ji Shuyi’s beautiful eyes sparkled. “What can you sing? I’ll go select one for you.”
Seeing the little girl’s eyes glistening with intense anticipation, Jiang Cheng suddenly crossed his arms and leaned back casually on the sofa. He looked at Ji Shuyi leisurely and dropped the line, “Don’t want to sing.”
The curiosity that had been stirred up in Ji Shuyi was hard to extinguish. She pushed him with her hand in annoyance and chased after him, saying, “Just sing one song.”
Jiang Cheng lowered his eyes to glance at the hand pushing him, then slowly moved his gaze up to meet Ji Shuyi’s eyes. He casually chuckled and asked, “Want to hear it?”
Ji Shuyi immediately nodded, “Mmm…”
Looking at the little girl’s increasingly intense anticipation, Jiang Cheng smiled with interest, put down his crossed arms, sat up straight, leaned closer to Ji Shuyi, and stared intently into her eyes, saying, “Then what to do? I only sing for my girlfriend.”
Hearing this, Ji Shuyi instantly understood that this guy was deliberately taking the opportunity to coax her, and she immediately lost interest and curled her lips.
Seeing that she was deliberately avoiding the question, Jiang Cheng deliberately continued to ask, “Ji Shuyi, do you want to be my girlfriend?”
“No!”
“You!…” Jiang Cheng sighed helplessly, “Then what exactly do you want before you’ll agree?”
At that moment, Ji Shuyi was sitting on a chair. Jiang Cheng reached out and pulled both her and the chair in front of him. He smiled helplessly and said, “Do you want me to dig out my heart and let you see if your name is engraved on it?”
He said this with a shameless tone, and Ji Shuyi blinked in astonishment, then couldn’t help but laugh. “Your shameless appearance is a bit of a persona collapse.”
Her smiling eyes were crescent-shaped, as if filled with stars.
Only then did Jiang Cheng realize that the little girl seemed to like this kind of tone. He chased after her helplessly and asked, “Don’t laugh, give me an answer.”
But Ji Shuyi suddenly stood up and escaped again, saying, “I’m hungry. I’m going to eat a cupcake.”
Jiang Cheng: “…”
He was truly at a loss.
In the evening, Ji Shuyi, being in a foreign country, didn’t dare to drink too much alcohol. She only couldn’t resist drinking a few sips of the fruit wine that the bartender had mixed with particularly beautiful colors, and she only got slightly tipsy.
And Jiang Cheng was looking for opportunities all night to express his feelings and ask for a title, but they all ended in failure.
After everyone had left, already lying in bed, he was still tossing and turning anxiously, unable to fall asleep, because he had a premonition that if he couldn’t confess successfully here, it would be even more hopeless when he returned to normal school life tomorrow.
Because then she would have another excuse, such as: I want to study hard…
In contrast to Jiang Cheng’s anxiety, Ji Shuyi was in an unusually good mood today. The dog thing had confessed, his words weren’t so annoying anymore, and the way he repeatedly asked for a title had dissipated the emotions she had been angered by in the past few days.
It also made her feel that he didn’t seem to be acting on a whim…
Not sure, let’s see.
Slightly tipsy, she took a bath and crawled into bed, falling into a beautiful sleep.
The bedding gave off a sleep-inducing, harmless fragrance, and she quickly entered a sweet dream, sleeping soundly.
However, all the beauty was shattered when a bolt of lightning mixed with thunder suddenly struck the night sky, waking her up.
“Ah!”
Ji Shuyi was suddenly awakened from her sleep, scared into a cold sweat, her hands unconsciously clenching the corners of the blanket.
