Chapter 5: Succumbing to Reality
Although the situation online was chaotic, Tang Qu didn’t feel like dealing with it just yet. First, his previous performance did indeed have elements of Guan Yan’s style, and claiming to be a fan of Guan Yan now would only deepen the misunderstanding. For someone like Tang Qu, who hadn’t truly entered the entertainment industry, the best approach was to let it cool down; the internet buzz would gradually die down.
Besides that, Tang Qu also had another thought. Although he had now taken the place of the original body, he didn’t have any desire to continue in the entertainment industry.
He had already filmed too many dramas in his previous life, and his time was almost entirely spent on acting. Now that he had this “stolen” life, he wanted to do things that he hadn’t had time to do before.
It wasn’t that Tang Qu didn’t enjoy acting; he loved it very much. Portraying different lives gave him different kinds of joy. However, having experienced life and death, Tang Qu had hit a wall. His acting skills were already refined to perfection, but Tang Qu always felt that something was missing from his performances. Although he was currently wearing the shell of a newcomer, his acting skills were enough to make him shine as a rookie. However, he didn’t want to do that. He acted to satisfy himself, not for empty fame.
He sighed. He would find time to explain things to Brother Zhang. He had no intention of entering the entertainment industry in the short term. Whether they terminated his contract or put him on hiatus, he would accept it.
Tang Qu’s future was still blurry. He had taken over this Tang Qu’s life without any clear plans for the future. But he probably wouldn’t be involved with the entertainment industry anytime soon.
He stretched out his body and leaned back on the sofa. Tang Qu looked at the ceiling, lost in thought.
Finally, after much deliberation, Tang Qu decided to let things take their course. Wasn’t he still a student? There was no rush.
On the weekend, Tang Qu sat obediently in the passenger seat. The person driving was a burly man—well, that was a bit of an exaggeration. It was more like his upper body was a bit muscular, giving him a very sturdy feel. And this person was none other than Tang Qu’s manager, Zhang Yong, Brother Zhang.
At this moment, Brother Zhang was taking Tang Qu to visit that acting coach.
Don’t ask why Tang Qu hadn’t terminated his contract with Brother Zhang. The reason was that Tang Qu had discovered he was broke!
That day, Tang Qu opened his bank card to check the balance. Tang Qu was a little embarrassed to admit that the dignified Film Emperor would one day have to worry about money.
After much hesitation, Tang Qu succumbed to reality. A skilled craftsman can’t work without materials. What was he, a penniless college student, talking about when it came to poetry and faraway places?
Tang Qu didn’t have the slightest hope for the original body’s adoptive parents. They hadn’t called in so long. If he hadn’t arrived, they probably wouldn’t have noticed until Tang Qu’s body had rotted.
“Xiao Qu, don’t be nervous. Teacher Zhang is very amiable.” Seeing that Tang Qu had been silent the entire time, maintaining a tense posture, Brother Zhang assumed he was nervous.
“Okay, I’ll try to relax.” But in reality, Tang Qu was just spacing out. His body was also subconsciously arranged into the best posture because he had lived under the spotlight almost 24 hours a day in his previous life.
“We’re here. Let’s get out of the car.”
Tang Qu got out of the car first, standing by the door to wait for Brother Zhang to park.
When Zhang Yong was parking, he inadvertently glanced out the car window and was suddenly stunned.
Zhang Yong had always thought that Tang Qu was someone who could make a living in the entertainment industry, but the Tang Qu he had met before had the potential but lacked something. But now, just by standing there, Zhang Yong felt that Tang Qu had the potential to become a top star.
