Chapter 8: Preparing to Enter the Industry
Since the day he met Guan Yan at Old Zhang’s house, Tang Qu hadn’t paid much attention to Guan Yan’s affairs. The online buzz had gradually subsided due to Tang Qu’s absence from the public eye and some public relations efforts from his company.
In fact, Tang Qu found it quite strange why the company would intervene in his matters. He wasn’t a clueless newbie like some others; he knew that the entertainment industry was the most pragmatic place. Without absolute benefits, even one’s own agency wouldn’t easily step in. Sometimes, they might even sacrifice their own artists to maintain the company’s development.
He had privately asked Zhang Yong about it, but Zhang Yong had brushed it off with a vague response. Tang Qu could tell, but he didn’t press further. After all, the situation was currently in his favor, and there was no need to dig too deep. Besides, what could a student like him possibly have that a talent agency would covet?
Tang Qu carefully assessed his current situation. He was a sophomore at a film academy, and his family had largely left him to his own devices. He didn’t expect much from them, but as a newly adult college student, he had many expenses. The original owner of his body had been quite frugal, and there was enough money in the bank to last for a while. However, Tang Qu didn’t plan to touch that money—it had been painstakingly saved by the original owner.
With tuition fees due soon, after much deliberation, Tang Qu decided to approach Zhang Yong. He had made up his mind to start acting again—it was what he was best at.
Moreover, Tang Qu recalled that a senior had once told him that understanding acting wasn’t just about specific moments or innate talent; it also required practice. Collaborating with different people could yield different insights. However, Tang Qu didn’t hold high hopes. As a complete newcomer, he would be lucky to land a decent script.
“Have you decided to step into this industry?” The two met at Tang Qu’s home.
Tang Qu nodded.
A smile appeared on Zhang Yong’s face. When he had signed Tang Qu, it was based on his years of experience as a manager. He believed that Tang Qu’s looks alone could make him a star.
Tang Qu was a refined young man with flawless skin, deep black eyes filled with emotion, a beauty mark at the corner of his eye, a delicate nose, and lips as full as cherry blossoms. His neck had the elegant curve of a Greek statue, and every gesture exuded sophistication. Now, with Tang Qu’s soul inhabiting the body, his years of experience in the entertainment industry had ingrained elegance into his very being, perfectly complementing his appearance.
The only thing Zhang Yong wasn’t entirely satisfied with was Tang Qu’s height, which wasn’t particularly tall. However, Tang Qu wasn’t aiming to be a model, and at 180 cm, he wasn’t short either. Plus, Tang Qu had exceptionally long legs, earning him the title of “leg god.”
But after signing Tang Qu, the company’s directive had always been to let him complete his studies first. Whether he acted or not was up to Tang Qu himself. Zhang Yong had initially wondered if Tang Qu was some young master dabbling in the industry for fun, but after observing him for a while, he couldn’t find anything particularly extraordinary about him. Since when had their company turned into a charity?
Still, Zhang Yong was just an employee, so he naturally followed the company’s orders. Now that Tang Qu had taken the initiative, Zhang Yong finally had a chance to put his skills to use!
Zhang Yong was even more excited than Tang Qu. After signing Tang Qu, his superiors had instructed him to focus solely on managing this one individual. However, Tang Qu himself wasn’t particularly enthusiastic about acting, and he spent most of his days idling around. Although he still received his salary without fail, as a manager, Zhang Yong felt his professional worth was not being realized.
“Brother Yong?” Tang Qu looked at the visibly excited Zhang Yong with some confusion.
Suddenly, Zhang Yong grabbed Tang Qu’s hands and said, “Don’t worry! I may not promise to make you a superstar, but I’ll definitely push you into the ranks of A-list celebrities!”
Tang Qu stared at Zhang Yong, who seemed as if he had been injected with adrenaline. The words, “He just wanted to solve his current financial difficulties,” lingered on his tongue but never made it out.
Sighing, Tang Qu thought to himself, *Let’s take it one step at a time. Who can predict the future? Maybe he’ll break through his acting bottleneck while he’s at it.*
