Chapter 24: What a Rebellious Little Follower!
The Federal Military Academy was full of Alphas constantly entering their susceptibility periods, so transitioning from a heat period to a susceptibility period at least reduced the level of danger.
This time, the suppressant had truly been put to good use.
Ji Laili let out a breath and felt a little relieved.
【Male lead’s blackening value -5】
“Let’s go back,” Shen Yu said hoarsely. “In the afternoon, you all will have pheromone training.”
Ji Laili suddenly realized how much time had passed. Soon, they would begin their second training session.
“What about you?”
“I’ll return to my dormitory.” Noticing Ji Laili’s concern, Shen Yu hesitated briefly before adding, “It’s a single room.”
With his reputation, he had more than enough qualifications to apply for a single room.
Such rooms were rare in the Federal Military Academy, making them highly sought-after.
Ji Laili nodded and glanced at the ventilation ducts above. The previously strong Omega pheromones had already faded significantly.
Shen Yu’s pheromones, which once carried a trace of sweet iris when he was an Alpha, were now almost undetectable.
Ji Laili felt like his nasal congestion had cleared up quite a bit.
Since it didn’t make sense to return to the dormitory for just a few minutes before training, Ji Laili decided to head to the medical room again, shopping for supplies as if he were stocking up for winter.
The Beta nurse teased him, “Are you treating the medical room like a supermarket?”
He was probably the only Alpha who constantly showed up here every few days.
And every time, he bought a bunch of stuff.
He’d pick up each medicine bottle, examine it with great interest for a long while, then reluctantly put it back.
What didn’t go back on the shelf ended up in his pocket.
“Yesterday, a bunch of Alphas swarmed in to buy suppressants, but today, things are back to normal. I thought no Alphas would show up this afternoon.”
The Alphas who had been tricked by Instructor Aige had finally figured things out.
Since they now knew Alpha suppressants were useless, they naturally stopped coming.
Speaking of which, Ji Laili asked, “Do you still have any suppressants left?”
The Beta nurse looked at him in surprise. “You’re still buying more?”
“Yeah.” Ji Laili tried to keep a straight face, but the tips of his ears reddened. “…My susceptibility period is coming soon.”
“Well, that’s unfortunate. We’re out of stock.”
The Beta nurse shrugged. “Everything was wiped clean yesterday.”
Ji Laili let out a deep sigh. There was nothing he could do about it now—he could only hope Shen Yu had some left in his personal stash.
After paying for his purchases, he walked out of the medical room, carrying a bag of supplies, and ran into Zhai Yifei at the corner.
“Laili?”
Zhai Yifei looked up, surprised to see him. His gaze dropped to the bag in Ji Laili’s hands. “What’s all that?”
“Zhai-ge!” Ji Laili greeted him with a smile. “You’re here early.”
There were still three minutes until training started.
Zhai Yifei nodded and lifted his chin in a proud, aristocratic manner.
One of his followers boasted, “No matter the time or place, our brilliant Young Master Zhai always arrives on time!”
“For years, Young Master Zhai has always been first in everything.”
Ji Laili: “…” Okay, enough of this cringe.
“First?”
A cocky, arrogant voice suddenly cut in.
At the sound of it, Zhai Yifei’s face darkened in clear displeasure, as if he already disliked the person approaching.
Lei Po strode in, followed by five or six Alphas. He walked at the front, exuding an air of overconfidence and untouchable arrogance.
With a smirk at the corner of his lips, he said, “What a coincidence. We meet again.”
Ji Laili sighed. “Yeah, we meet again.”
Like Zhai Yifei, Lei Po also had a group of followers surrounding him. Strong individuals always seemed to attract loyal subordinates.
And naturally, the relationship between leaders dictated the relationship between their underlings.
As soon as the two groups met, they started glaring at each other—one side rolling their eyes, the other lifting their chins arrogantly.
“The only reason you got first place before was because our Young Master Zhai was kind enough to let you win. Some people really don’t know gratitude.”
“Kindness, my ass! Our boss doesn’t need your charity!”
One of Lei Po’s Alphas growled fiercely, brimming with aggression.
Kindness?
Ji Laili blinked and clearly saw Zhai Yifei’s face turn black as charcoal.
His expression—gritted teeth, barely restrained fury, trying to maintain the noble demeanor of a military aristocrat while his eyes darkened ominously…
Sorry, but he really did look like a villain.
“Kindness? If Young Master Zhai lets you off, you should be kneeling in gratitude.”
Zhai Yifei’s followers sneered. “You’re proud of having a super-masculine boss? Just looking at you guys is giving me Alpha aversion syndrome.”
Super-masculine?!
Lei Po exploded.
The cocky, handsome expression on his face instantly darkened, his scowl fierce and full of youthful recklessness—one that sent an instinctive warning to others.
Anyone unfamiliar with him might actually believe what they were saying.
So this is an opponent, huh?
A precise verbal strike—no, a precise insult.
As they walked, the two groups continued arguing, bickering all the way to the training room, attracting countless curious glances.
“Our Young Master Zhai is handsome, generous, and comes from an excellent family. He’s also rich and generous!”
“Pfft, that’s nothing! Our boss is the most stylish one around—he steals from the rich and gives to the poor!”
“Hah! That’s just one of Young Master Zhai’s least significant virtues. Just wait for the pheromone training this afternoon—he’s going to take first place!”
“First place? Did you ask our boss first?”
The painful memories from before suddenly resurfaced for both Zhai Yifei and Lei Po, making their expressions change instantly.
Since there were so many new students, three separate training rooms had been set up.
Clearly, these followers weren’t in Ji Laili’s group, and they were unknowingly stepping on a landmine.
One side boasted, “Just wait until you’re bowing at Young Master Zhai’s feet!” while the other yelled, “Our boss is going to strip you of your dignity—first place is his!”
Neither side cared about Zhai Yifei and Lei Po’s actual survival.
As their shouting grew more intense, their faces turned red with anger.
“Young Master Zhai, slap his mouth!”
“Boss, rip his head off!”
“Young Master Zhai/Boss, go get them!!!”
What a bunch of rebellious little followers!
Ji Laili stared, dumbfounded. He’d seen bosses sending their underlings into battle, but never underlings ordering their bosses around.
“What the hell are you yelling about?”
A loud, impatient voice suddenly cut through the noise.
The rowdy scene immediately fell silent.
Instructor Aige walked over with his arms crossed, looking thoroughly annoyed. Behind him stood several members of the patrol squad, their expressions stern and impassive.
Ji Laili glanced around but didn’t see a certain familiar face.
His lips curled slightly in satisfaction.
A sick little butterfly that knew to stay put and rest? Good, that saved him the trouble of worrying.
“I could hear you lot arguing from far away.”
Instructor Aige clicked his tongue. “Shouting about being first while ordering your bosses to charge into battle—impressive.”
Both groups suddenly felt their faces burn with embarrassment, standing stiffly with their heads held high.
