Chapter 37: When I Get Ruthless, I’ll Do Anything

During the latter half of combat training, Eugene was nowhere to be seen.

The patrol team member acting as substitute instructor couldn’t help but grumble about him. What’s his deal? He feels ashamed and just doesn’t show up anymore? Now that the freshmen are mocking us, we’re embarrassed too.

When the session ended, the Alphas finally saw Eugene.

His back was facing them, and his entire Alpha presence radiated suppressed irritability.

The group of Alphas exchanged glances before one stepped forward, his tone slightly displeased.

“Eugene, you fought hard to get the position of substitute instructor, and now you—? What happened to your face?”

The Alpha speaking was momentarily speechless as he stared at Eugene’s swollen, pig-headed face, eyes widening in shock.

The once somewhat handsome face had puffed up like a steamed bun, swollen with purplish bruises. His nose was crooked at an odd angle, completing the tragic pig-head look.

It was the face of someone who had been severely beaten.

“You… you’re really Eugene?”

All the Alphas present were stunned. How did he end up looking like this?

They distinctly remembered that Eugene had left looking proud and haughty, his face still intact and pale.

Now, after just a short while, how had he turned into an entirely different species?

The pig-headed face in front of them turned even redder with rage. Eugene growled, “Yeah, it’s me! Happy now?! Seeing me like this makes you feel good, huh?!”

The Alpha who had just been surprised: … Are you insane?!

Annoyed, the Alpha said, “I wasn’t the one who hit you, so why are you taking your anger out on me?”

Eugene was unusually furious, his emotions breaking down. “No one hit me! Shut up, shut up! You’re not allowed to talk about it—get lost!”

In his rage, he punched the floating cleaning robot beside him, knocking out its system driver.

The shining metallic surface of the driver reflected back his miserable, pig-headed face.

His crooked nose seemed to be mocking him!

Eugene had no idea why Shen Yu had come after him. He had never offended the guy!

After that duel with Ji Laili, Eugene had already felt humiliated. It was clear to everyone that he had lost.

As an upperclassman and a substitute instructor, he had fought a freshman for so long, even letting the other guy learn his moves.

An absolute disgrace.

Unable to endure it, Eugene had retreated to the lounge to cool off, contemplating resigning from his position.

After all, there were plenty of others waiting to take his place. Staying on and continuing to see that kid would only make him more miserable.

But just as he hesitated, Shen Yu arrived.

Eugene was surprised to see him. “Shen Yu? I heard you’re in your susceptible period and resting in the dorm. What are you doing here?”

The pale, sharp-featured young man looked as cold as ice, with only a slight redness at the corners of his eyes.

He said, “I came to beat you up.”

Eugene frowned. “What?”

But Shen Yu had already launched his attack—his strikes were merciless and deadly. Eugene cursed under his breath and had no choice but to fight back.

If he didn’t defend himself, Shen Yu’s attack would have left him completely incapacitated!

Even so, Eugene found himself retreating step by step under Shen Yu’s relentless assault, sweat pouring from his forehead.

Compared to their fight a few months ago, Shen Yu had become even stronger. Back then, Eugene had at least been able to gauge his limits. But now, Shen Yu’s strength seemed bottomless.

As expected, Eugene was brutally beaten.

They were curious about the person who had done it. Sure, Eugene’s arrogance could be annoying, but his strength somewhat justified it.

Then, he transferred the remainder of his balance into the Federation Military Academy group chat, sending all the Alphas into a frenzy as they scrambled to snatch it.

Finally, he downed an entire single-use energy supplement, refused to do any training, and just sat there, playing games online with his pig-headed face.

After losing three or four matches in a row, he sneered, “You think I’m not fit to be an instructor? Fine, I refuse to quit!”

“I’m going to stay in this position until I drop dead, until my body burns to ashes!”

“Shen Yu—ha! I’ll make you so pissed off!”

Meanwhile, Shen Yu returned to his dorm, washed his hands, and destroyed the uniform he had worn while beating up Eugene before going to find Instructor Aige.

“You want to become a substitute instructor?!”

Instructor Aige crossed his arms and sneered. “Shen Yu, did your susceptible period fry your brain?”

“At a time like this, mixing with a bunch of Alphas—are you sure you won’t have a pheromone imbalance and go berserk, wanting to kill them all?”

“Oh, wait—” Aige tapped his foot, spinning his chair in two full circles before fixing his gaze on the cold, pale young man in front of him. With a dry laugh, he added,

“You already want to kill them, don’t you? If you could beat me, you’d probably want to kill me too, huh?!”

His last sentence exploded out of him in a furious yell that echoed through the instructor’s office.

The Alphas standing outside shivered, standing up straight and hurriedly covering their ears to stop eavesdropping.

“Aige, it’s just a substitute instructor position,” another instructor interjected, attempting to mediate. “No harm in giving it to him. I think little Shen is someone who knows his limits.”

Considering Shen Yu’s past reputation and talent, some instructors were willing to vouch for him.

Aige was annoyed. You fools! This brat doesn’t give a damn about your support!

He turned to Shen Yu, who remained stone-faced and indifferent, completely unfazed.

Aige clenched his jaw.

Damn it. Am I the instructor here, or is he?!

This Alpha had gotten way too cocky lately. Aige had to find a way to bring him down a notch.

“… The substitute instructor position—”

Before he could finish, a sudden sigh interrupted him.

“Aige, it’s just a minor position. Refusing him like this is too harsh, don’t you think? You’ll hurt little Yu’s feelings.”
