Chapter 139: Long Time No See, Lei Po

Lei Po’s expression darkened as he shouted at Chi Fei. At the same time, he grabbed the girl closest to him, pulling her into his arms and rolling them both to the ground—just in time to dodge the incoming light blade.

The pale yellow energy blade, its edges nearly transparent, embedded itself into the ground. The blade vibrated, slicing the surrounding wild grass, sending bits fluttering down.

Lei Po turned his head and saw a group of Imperial soldiers approaching in military uniforms. One of them leisurely retracted his hand—it was clear he had been the one who threw the blade.

Lei Po cursed under his breath, “Damn it, these idiots got here fast.”

Yet, there wasn’t a hint of fear in him. He yanked the light blade from the ground, his not-so-tall frame standing firmly in front of everyone.

Raising an eyebrow arrogantly, he weighed the blade in his hand before calling out, “What, saw I didn’t have a weapon, so you rushed over to deliver one? What a pal.”

The leading soldier sneered, “Got a mouth on you, kid. I hope you can still talk when I slice your throat open later.”

Lei Po couldn’t stand his smug attitude. His response was immediate and full of mockery.

“You never went to school, huh? Your vocal cords must be messed up if you’re still expecting me to talk. I swear, if I can still speak, you better not close your eyes when you sleep at night.”

“I’ll drag you straight to hell, got it? The fact that trash like you is still breathing is a waste of air. No wonder the Federation has been crushing the Empire for the last thirty years. We’ve had universal education for centuries, and you lot still have the IQ of a brick.”

A cold chuckle.

“Is this all you’ve got?”

The Imperial officer’s face twisted in anger as he let out a mirthless laugh. “Not bad, not bad. I like killing stubborn bastards like you the most.”

Lei Po remained at the front, gripping his blade horizontally. The sharp light reflected in his eyes, which carried an undeniable killing intent.

“You want to kill me? Then do it yourself!”

His deep roar echoed across the wasteland. Without hesitation, Lei Po charged straight at the leading soldier, blade in hand!

The sheer intensity of his movement mirrored his personality—brazen, confident, and utterly fearless.

And the reason why a troublemaker like him stayed a troublemaker?

Because he was all thorns, unwilling to submit. Even when faced with overwhelming odds, there was only one word in Lei Po’s mind—Fight!

With a sharp swoosh, the Imperial Alpha commander yanked a light blade from his subordinate and strode forward, radiating murderous intent as he slashed at Lei Po!

“Commander!”

His subordinates gasped, not expecting him to charge in alone. They hurriedly moved to assist.

“Stay back!”

The moment their commander’s blade clashed with Lei Po’s, he felt an immense force press against him. Gritting his teeth, he locked eyes with Lei Po—who met his gaze with a mocking smirk, raising an eyebrow in challenge.

The Alpha’s voice dripped with venom. “Since you’re so eager to die, I’ll kill you myself!”

Behind him, someone wanted to remind him, “Sir, we were ordered to capture them alive—”

But before the words could leave his mouth, the battle had already begun.

The clash of blades sent fierce gusts through the grassland, the tension so thick that no one dared speak, fearing they might disrupt their commander’s concentration.

Yet, despite his experience, the Imperial Alpha found himself steadily pushed back.

He clenched his jaw, his wrist aching from the counterforce. In contrast, Lei Po seemed unfazed—his strikes relentless, his stance aggressive.

He never defended. His movements left countless openings, ones that any trained fighter could spot instantly.

But for Lei Po, his best defense was always offense.

Even if his opponent saw his weak points, they couldn’t exploit them—his sheer attack pressure kept them at bay.

Realizing he couldn’t win alone, the Imperial Alpha swallowed his pride and barked, “What are you waiting for? Attack!”

At his command, the surrounding Imperial Alphas surged forward without hesitation.

Lei Po tightened his grip around the hilt of his light blade and sneered. “Pathetic. A bunch of losers, that’s all you are.”

“You won’t be talking so big when I drag you back to the Empire! I’ll tear you apart piece by piece, strip your flesh from your bones!”

Lei Po laughed coldly. “Keep dreaming.”

As the wave of Imperial soldiers rushed toward him, Lei Po found himself completely surrounded.

Enemies pressed in from all directions, while their commander stood back, watching with an icy smirk as Lei Po struggled.

Damn it… Lei Po gritted his teeth, blocking a strike aimed at his left shoulder. The force rattled his bones, and the metallic taste of blood filled his mouth.

Chi Fei, you idiot. If you have any brains at all, take the others and run!

“Move!”

A familiar voice rang out. Lei Po’s body reacted before his mind could process it—he instinctively dodged.

The motion cost him—a blade sliced across his arm, but he barely registered the pain.

Whipping around, he saw Chi Fei burst into the battlefield, snatching up a fallen light blade and immediately cutting down three Imperial Alphas.

Lei Po’s eyes widened before he roared, “You dumbass! You should be running, not charging in here! Do you have a death wish?!”

Chi Fei flicked the blood off his blade, a stray droplet landing on Lei Po’s face. Absentmindedly, he wiped it away.

It was warm.

Then, Chi Fei suddenly grinned—his expression a twisted mix of cruelty and grief. “So these bastards bleed warm, too, huh?”

Then why do they act so inhuman?

He turned to Lei Po. “Junior, remember this—you’re not alone.”

“I want these bastards dead, too. Let’s do it together.”

“Screw you!” Lei Po snapped. “Where are the others?!”

“We’re here!”

Lei Po turned to see them—faces set with determination, the hostility and wariness from their first meeting now turned against the true enemy.

“Brother Po, we’re fighting with you. We’re not leaving.”

Lei Po let out a heavy breath, then another, before abruptly turning away. Damn it, he couldn’t even get mad properly.

If that sharp-tongued bastard were here, he could insult them enough to make them leave.

No, too aggressive. Better to have Laili do it. Or maybe Shen Yu. Definitely not Eugene, though.

The faces of his friends flashed through his mind, and for a second, he froze.

His grip on the blade trembled slightly. He lifted his gaze.

Before him—certain death.

Behind him—no way out.

His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed. Then, he abruptly closed his eyes, shutting those thoughts away.

When he opened them again, there was only one thing left.

“Fight our way out!”

“Push forward! No way in hell these bastards are keeping us here!”

Chi Fei smirked. Though his body was still weak, every swing of his blade sent fresh pain through his limbs.

His face was pale, but his smile remained. “Damn right. Who the hell do they think they are?”

Their will to survive burned fiercely—Lei Po wanted to see his friends again. Chi Fei had a home to return to. And the younger Alphas had their whole lives ahead of them.

Dying here? At the hands of these monsters? Unthinkable.

Their unyielding determination sharpened their blades.

They cut through enemy after enemy.

And even dozens of Alphas couldn’t stop them.

The Imperial commander’s face darkened.

Lei Po gripped his knife, his face smeared with blood. He grinned and said, “Come on, I’ll send you to hell.”

“You think you’ve won?” The Alpha’s expression remained cold as he pulled his lips into a sinister smile.

“You’ll never leave. You’ll be stuck in the Empire forever.”

“Cut the bullshit.” Lei Po sneered, spitting out his words with disdain. Suddenly, he caught sight of a familiar aircraft in the distance.

It bore the insignia of the Federal Military Academy and was getting closer. Lei Po raised an eyebrow. “Looks like you’re out of luck.”

The aircraft landed, and the hatch opened. Black military boots stepped out, followed by a figure in a black-and-gold Federal uniform.

Lei Po took a step forward, the corners of his mouth lifting as he was about to call out—then his expression froze.

He saw someone else, someone who shouldn’t have been there.

With a gentle demeanor and amber eyes filled with warmth, the man smiled at him, his presence as refreshing as a spring breeze.

He nodded slightly and said, “Long time no see, Lei Po.”
