Civilian Medical Ward.
Two groups of people stood in a tense standoff, the focus of their confrontation centered on 52 corpses.
One group was guarding the bodies, while the other insisted on eating them.
The argument was heated, on the verge of turning violent.
Each side had its reasons, but the number of people supporting cannibalism was growing.
“If we had a choice, who would want to eat human flesh?”
“But we can’t survive like this anymore! Should we all just starve to death instead?”
“They’re already dead, but we’re still alive!”
“I don’t want to eat human flesh either, but I have to survive—I have a wife and children to take care of!”
“This cursed world forces people to eat each other just to live!”
Seeing that the group against cannibalism was at a disadvantage, a violent conflict was about to erupt.
Then, Song Lufeng entered.
“What are you all doing?”
He was young, but his presence was overwhelming.
A 3S-level ability user, the strongest man in the base.
With his usual decisive and fair leadership, no one dared to openly defy him.
The group advocating for cannibalism hesitated and took a step back.
Meanwhile, those guarding the bodies breathed a sigh of relief.
If the city lord had arrived any later, they wouldn’t have been able to hold their ground.
Song Lufeng scanned the crowd. His heart clenched painfully as his gaze landed on the starving civilians—skeletal figures with sunken faces, their eyes filled with despair.
From the pro-cannibalism group, a frail old woman with graying hair stepped forward, trembling.
She knelt before him.
“City Lord, I beg you, let me cut off just a piece of flesh. Just one piece.”
“If my grandson doesn’t eat something soon, he will die of starvation!”
The others also knelt, their faces full of desperation.
None of them wanted to eat human flesh.
But they had no other choice.
Song Lufeng bent down to help the old woman up, but she remained kneeling, tears falling freely.
“My son… before he died, he cut off all the flesh he could spare from his own body.”
“But he was too thin… Even after cutting away what little he had, it only lasted a few days.”
The others turned their faces away.
They couldn’t cry anymore.
They had all lived through similar horrors.
Their parents, their children…
A deep sorrow hung over them.
Despair was spreading.
Song Lufeng made a decisive call:
“Starting now, the nutrition fluid and protein supplements will be distributed freely—three tubes per person, per day!”
The moment his words fell, the entire hall fell silent in shock.
Until now, the rationing had been one tube per family per day.
Three tubes per person? That was unheard of!
People’s expressions shifted from despair to disbelief, then to overwhelming relief.
They no longer thought about eating the dead.
Most of them had never truly accepted the idea in the first place—it was only desperation driving them to consider it.
“Really? Thank you, City Lord!”
“We won’t fight anymore! We won’t fight!”
“So there’s finally enough nutrition fluid? This is amazing!”
However, those who knew the truth grew uneasy.
Even if they distributed everything in stock, the supplies would only last three days.
And then what?
Without more food, everyone would still starve to death.
Why would the city lord make such a decision?
But looking at the faint hope rekindled in the people’s eyes, and the unwavering determination in Song Lufeng’s expression, they chose to trust him.
The rioters were escorted away.
Song Lufeng ordered the corpses to be cremated and buried properly.
“City Lord, if we release all our nutrition and protein supplies, our base won’t last long. When the time comes…”
They feared the entire base would descend into complete chaos and turn into hell itself.
“I know.”
His face was grim.
If he hadn’t met the savior, he might have walked down that path.
The path of completely abandoning humanity.
After all, even if they had continued rationing, they would have only been able to sustain a small number of people for another three months.
This day was inevitable.
Just then, his phone chimed with Gu Man’s voice.
“I’ve bought the food and water. There’s a lot, so find a warehouse to store it.”
Her voice was heavenly, like the sound of salvation itself.
And the meaning behind her words—
Yet, he still didn’t fully grasp what she meant by “a lot.”
How much food could it possibly be?
But that didn’t stop him from acting immediately.
There were plenty of empty warehouses in the base.
“The savior has sent a message—clear out Warehouse No. 3 immediately.”
Back in Gu Man’s world.
Aunt Zhang had done an incredible job.
She had spent the full 100,000 yuan.
Not only had she bought a wide variety of food, but also a huge quantity.
The supermarket, thrilled to have such a big customer, even arranged for multiple trucks to deliver everything.
Once the food was unloaded and stacked neatly, Gu Man nodded in satisfaction.
She transferred an extra 2,000 yuan to Aunt Zhang as a reward.
Aunt Zhang tried to refuse.
“This is too much, miss. Please take it back.”
Gu Man was firm.
“Take it. You earned it.”
Only then did Aunt Zhang accept the money, smiling with joy.
It would be enough to buy plenty of toys for her grandson.
“Miss, are you sure you don’t need me to stay?”
Gu Man waved her off.
“No need. I’m good—really good.”
She even flexed her arms jokingly.
Seeing her in such a good mood, Aunt Zhang chuckled.
Shopping really did make her young mistress happy.
She left, returning home to take care of her grandson.
Gu Man began taking inventory of the supplies.
She messaged Song Lufeng:
“Are you ready? I’m about to start sending the food over.”
“I’ll send the items that are easiest to store first.”
After receiving confirmation, she carefully photographed each category before transferring them.
First, flour.
Click.
The next second, 1,000 jin of flour vanished, transported instantly.
Then rice, instant noodles, sausages, sweet potatoes, and potatoes followed.
When she got to the meat, she sent another message:
“You’ll need a separate refrigerated warehouse. I bought you 3,000 jin of meat.”
On the other end, a shocked, breathless gasp was heard.
Then a serious, almost reverent reply:
“Understood.”
Once she got the green light, she transferred the lamb and pork as well.
The once-packed villa was now empty.
Yet, Gu Man felt incredibly fulfilled.
With all this food, Song Lufeng and his people should be thrilled, right?
This was addictive.
She wanted to send more.
“According to them, there are 300,000 people in their base… They were so desperate that they were about to resort to cannibalism…”
Such a thing was unimaginable in the peace and abundance of the modern world.
The camera on her phone followed Song Lufeng’s perspective, letting her see the hunger in those people’s eyes.
How starved did they have to be?
Their eyes were completely lifeless.
A dying father cutting his own flesh to feed his child…
It was too cruel.
If she hadn’t seen it herself, she wouldn’t have believed it.
She hoped this shipment would last them for a while.
“No, it’s still not enough. I need to buy more.”
“But to feed 300,000 people… I’d need at least a million tons of food… That’s no small amount…”
